I watched 1984 (a.k.a. Brazil) few nights ago again for like 10th time. I take it the book is alot different.

All these books like F:451, 1984, Brave New World, even Ayn Rand's Anthem, and to some extent we the living, all have a similar goal in mind. They are all great books, although I don't care much for Brave New World. It's a shame so few people appreciate books these days, movies are fun and all that but there's nothing like the original novel.
I haven't seen the movie, although I plan to. But I keep seeing that speach in everyone's away message/live journals...its rather annoying after a while, one can only take so much alliteration!
Just got back from seeing it myself. Absolutly mindblowing to say the least. Certainly a dangerous film for dangerous times.
Sadly I agree with you, today I was thinking of maybe going out and buying some of the books I was forced to read in High School oddly enough. Catch 22, 1984, Brave New World, Catcher in the Rye, etc.Originally Posted by Banigaru
Even if the movie had a political agenda, entertaining the type of thinking it was suggesting and the whole scenario it presented was a really fun experience. You don't have to be like "Oh man, this movie is showing how evil America/Britain/whatevee other country" and then just hate it.
It was really intellectual, stimulatin, and engaging. That's why I liked it.
lol Catcher in the Rye invented "emo"
He didn't die at the end of 1984, remember he bumps into the girl and admit they betrayed each other.
it really did roflOriginally Posted by Anyway

Lol the part I remember is him getting a prostitute just to talk to her then he gets his ass beat. Then doesn't some guy try to molest him? It's been a while, I should read it again.
Yea, they meet in the park and confess to eachother. then he is in the coffee bar watchin TV and says that he loves Big brother and it ends... I think there are some words added to the end to make it seem like he was killed... but I forget, its been a year.Originally Posted by Anyway
