Of course this a crafter forum so my view in your eyes is mute. Maybe we should move to this to all of FFXI talk. I am positive people support my views on this. You people need to get off of your high horse.

(Points out he admitted that commas were difficult for him to understand.)

Meh, whatever. I wasn't writing an essay so I am sure there a mistakes, but it wasn't that hard to understand. The whole comma argument is funny as well, because you are too dense to think of your own comeback. Pretty pathetic. You guys are missing my point obviously. I am not saying a person should rip off a crafter of an HQ. The crafter needs to protect his ownself and settle on an adequate HQ fee if it happens. The crafter doesn't have any control on breaks I know this, but it does suck when it happens. The crafter can continue on with his day no problem at all. The synthee now has to redo all his work to acquire said items. In the end it evens out between your breaks and people ripping you off. I am gonna bold something and quote myself so that the last sentence shouldn't happen. " The crafter needs to protect his ownself and settle on an adequate HQ fee if it happens. "
You said it, not me. There's nothing funnier than someone trying to use logic but so obviously failing. I would suggest that you try some reading comprehension before you attempt being witty.

    ZOOOOOOOOOOOM
(thats the sound of you getting booted to Zam, where your type of 'reasoning' is more accepted)

You never responded to Septimus' example of fishing up a ton of grimmonites for someone as a favor and then they sell them all on the AH. I'm dying to know your response since you are so morally superior to us crafters who obviously just want to rip everyone off.

As for my "moat carp level fishing", just how many Ryugu Titans have you fished up? Just curious.

When I HQ'd both Onyx Legs and Onyx Feet I set a HQ price before the synth, which the people both agreed upon. After the item was HQ'd, both people didn't actually have the money to pay for the HQ. What did I do? I bought synth materials for them, made them NQ, and sent them on their way. Be a smart crafter and set HQ before the synth so no one can feel cheated if HQ happens.

There is no merci-fishing so to speak. At least I have never done it. Your right Shrimp Lures and the risk in SSG would be hard. But I guarantee that RMT that was right next to me will kill the profit for that guy. The analogy was good, but flawed.
There you go. I am 1/3 on Titans. I just acquired my Lu Shangs thank you very much. I just assumed based on your assumption on Fishing you would be that level. Sorry. But the quoted part is my response to the SSG fishing.

So you are in an activity that has no risk, no chance of loss or HQ, and no interaction with other players.

Sorry, that really doesn't define a "craft", fishing is no more a craft than harvesting or mining... If anything it's most like chocobo-digging where it does take time to skillup to have better results, but still just a way to farm.

Back when archer rings were plentiful, I used to make snipers by the dozens, I always set HQ fees, and break expectations.

    For instance:

    Sniper price: 900k
    Archer price: 1M
    HQ sniper price: 5M

HQ fee: 1.5M, if you can't afford it, Ill make you a nonhq + 500k.
    Break: you lose

People would bitch at how unfair it was. Yep, getting a HQ sniper at 50% is really unfair. If you are scared of breaks, go buy from the fucking AH, its probably cheaper anyways. I don't need idiots driving up the price of my mats anyways.

I've HQ'd for people, gave them a nonhq+bonus for being lucky (if they coudn't afford my fee that they agreed to), still get complaints from them and their retarded friends. There was one individual who was so scared of a break, I finally just offered to give him a Sniper Ring + difference for his archer. He didn't trust me so he wanted an even trade, I even told him this archer will be mine, you have no claim on it. He agrees "I just want a sniper".

I proceeded to HQ it right in front of him. "THAT'S MY RING"..... I think I eventually just gave him a 100k pity bonus (but that still didn't make him go away). People can be such douches.

Wow, went and watch opera, and already 3 pages. hehe
Anyway, that's all I want to hear. Thx.

Anyway Tekki, guess both our principle is different somehow. For eg, when someone ask me to craft a noble (yea tier 1 for me), I always state a HQ fee of 5M flat. If HQ, I get paid, and I do not mind whatever he does with it as I already BENEFITTED from the synth by sitting my ass down synthing just 5 seconds.
Same goes for Subligar Desynth. I do not charge for HQ result (Shining), but only charge a minimal tip if it NQ to Cashmere (ie whatever they feel like tipping, as I only do this to close friends that I know). Do I give a damn if they make 2-3M off selling the shinning cloth to try subligar again? Hell no. Well, that is just me. I do not feel jealous about other people making profit out of me, as I myself can make my own gils without worrying too much. Apart from that, a "legal" online agreement between crafter and commisioner already been made BEFORE a synth.

As for the Manteel, do reread what I posted. I said I HAD OFFERS. I did not advertise to sell or anything. I just want to know that the damn price is as it is never listed on AH before. Besides, I am a sucker for HQ stuff, and will 99% keep it. As Raineer suggested, that's fair enough, if that 1% chance that I do sell it, I will leave a hefty profit ratio for crafter.

Glad to hear you likely won't sell it/sell it and shaft the crafter, wop.

As long as you follow through on this, no one will think you are a shithead. It's all about ratios and rarity I guess. The arguement can always be made that "omg all he did was take my materials and kneel, that's not worth all that much" without seeing the rest of the story.

/salute to you, good sir :D

It has nothing to do with the fact that you fish. It has to do with the fact that you're an idiot.

Ya My example was from someone I made a HQ for free. If I HQ something that is insanely rare, e.g. my dusk gloves +1. Id be upset if he sold them for 150M and pocketed everything. Yes, if someone sold one and had previously paid my asked fee, then I wouldn’t be upset. I got my cut that I asked for.

I went ahead and read your original post that started with "First off, I am not a crafter". I didn’t stop there but all the text following that statement, including all of your other posts, do only one thing. Reinforce your original statement, "You are not a crafter"

By saying that yourself you really don’t have the authority or the perspective to judge or make such a strong opinion on this subject. The regulars around this board have BILLIONs invested in simply leveling our craft from 0-100 so that we can make gear for yes sometimes ourselves but for the most part, to make money and make gear for others. For the most part, especially around 80+, we have lost millions upon millions.

Saying we are "ripping people off" when we break a person's synth is a statement I would expect from someone with 0 experience in the hell of leveling a craft, the hell of losing money trying to make money, the hell of breaking your own gear and the hell of making only modest profits in flooded markets and a deflating economy. All while crossing your fingers and hoping to get rich quick with a tier 0 super synth. So ya.... expect a few of us to be upset over this topic.

Fair enough. My highest craft is Goldsmithing of 34, so no I don't have any experience with expending millions, possibly billions to get a craft to 100. I know what a pain it is to get Fishing 60+ so the hassle I can understand to a degree. I guess I was kinda venting for my friend that just had a Plastron blown up and the crafter didn't blink of course. I know it is a waste of gil, but he has had his eye set on it since it was introduced. I know for a fact I wouldn't know what to do as him. I could fall back and profit fish for 2 weeks and make the money back. He has no options. My only point in this thread was to maybe have you crafters think twice about it. I know I came across as a dick, and you'll never see me again so it doesn't matter. Good luck on future endeavors and crafting. Who knows maybe I'll join you guys someday the "rip-off" artists. LOL

Anyways. Why should he blink? Give me a reason

Blame SE's random crafting generator. All the crafter did was press a button.

Seriously. It does not matter how much "skill" you have, even a level 100 +3 crafter making a level 1 item has a 5% chance of blowing up the synth and losing everything. Every subcraft involved adds an extra 5% chance of blowing it up. That is why I always tell non-crafters that this is always a risk when you get something synthed.
