No. The way he set it up he made it seem intruments were possible but they just didn't do the correct songs, or songs at all. You see the way he set it up he'd put what an NPC can obtain then a suggestion to how this would affect them. Based on this pattern I assumed that maybe NPC's could get instruments but just didn't cast songs or corresponding songs. So gtfo .

Question, what do the Tactics Manuals do exactly, I just got the quest for the tactics manual but I've never done the quest where you have to kill the Gigas in Qufim Island. Based on the wiki.ffxi site it seems like I should have killed this Gigas before getting this Chameleon Capers quest.

They can't use Bows, Guns, or instruments.

They upgrade the NPC 'jobs' to Soothing Healer, Stalward Shield, and Fierce Attacker. The Stalward Shield gains spells to cure itself, the attacker gets double attack and it seems like some TP gain, Soothing Healer gets better reaction time it seems.

My NPC is attacker, but didn't they already have double attack, seems we get the short end of the stick since our NPC doesnt really get anything :/.

Now they tell use their MP is ready at 90% instead of 100%. Which isn't a whole lot really.

Ummmm Soothing Healer seems to get NOTHING. I guess the attacker just gets a TP bonus though, but that aint bad at all.

Soothing Healer uses enhancing magic twice as often than Healer, uses na spells faster, and does not wait for your HP to get as low before curing you.

Stalwart Shield can cure him/herself and provokes more often.

Fierce Attacker will only use upgraded weapon skills once learned (for example it will never use Burning Blade once it learns Red Lotus Blade), has a higher chance of only using stronger weapon skills, warns you when it has 90% TP if you have over 100%. (They may also have some amount of Store TP and have been known to use stun weapon skills against moves like Goblin Bomb.)

One thing that I really hope they do eventually is give you a list of weapons you have given your NPC that you can select from the Rendezvous Point. It would be nice to no lose weapons when you upgrade, or even to just mix and match depending what job or weapon you are using.

The "casts enhancing magic twice as often" thing about soothing healer is a load of pure crap. When I upgraded to soothing healer I almost never had haste. The regular healer kept haste on me all the time.

I've always wondered why Crabs and Beetles have MP. PErhaps because their HNM counterparts, i.e. King Artho and Lumber Jack are able to cast spells. Who knows maybe they /were/ meant to cast spells. If that's the case, imagine what Bubbling Bernie would cast.

Getting back on topic. I just turned in GK for my first upgrade. My question is this:

    - Do I have to wait till next weapon upgrade to change it to something else if I'm not satisfied with GK or I can change at any time between the upgrades?

Just trade the current tier weapon you want.
