You're also aware in order to counter something, you have to hit it first. Perhaps its because your evasion is so high, that he's not hitting you in order to counter. Do you always attack from the front as a THF? I know I dont, I normally attack from behind a mob when I fight it as THF especially.

I move behind when my SA timer is up, which is every minute.
Dont call up on thf evasion for this. Its not THAT good, especially to gods / real HNM's.

I know it's not that good, but it's possible that for some reason you havent meleed Genbu enough, or just plain don't fight him enough (seriously, how many Genbus can you do.) I dunno, I just know its happened and there was NO TP move, and no chance I had hate, same on Tiamat.

And yet with Vudoodoodoo's SS it was obvious. Everyone here that's stating these things has been playing this game for 3+ years, and the slightest discrepancy in chat log or damage, you notice. I've been NIN, WAR and THF 95% of the time I've played this game, probably spend 75% of my time tanking a mob in one shape or form. When something's out of the ordinary, or you take damage for reasons you just can't figure out, it STANDS OUT.

Do your PLD's tank genbu without meleeing ??

In the past 2 (its 3 I guess?) years Genbu has been around, not ONE pld has mentionned having random HP drops. Dont call up on shitty pld accuracy, because even if you hit for 0's you can get coutnered.

We don't tank Genbu. Think we tried once, but 99% of the time we just bring damage which can cast from ranged, kinda pointless to waste time meleeing him. Plus it's more comical to kite him....when you do Genbu, it's best to make it a memorable one.

Even with over 50 ACC in gear, aggressor, merits, and Sushi, I have like 70% acc on genbu? Gods are the most evasive mobs in the game. A PLD with no ACC, DEF food, ect. is going to hardly ever hit Genbu.

As I said before, have a WAR offenisvely haste tank him. He actually attacks when he counters, aswell as making the sound as if he hit you even with shadows up. It's very, very easy to see that Genbu has counter.

You don't tank Tiamat by meleeing? WAR/NIN just holds hate with initial WS, and Trick Attacks/Provokes? I know you guys use WAR/NIN alot, so I was just wondering how you do it without offensively tanking him.

Yeah, but this was before with soley TA WS and BPs for damage, so hate never really was an issue for anything. WAR/NIN wouldn't be able to keep up in hate with SA WS damage, which is mainly what they do now.

lmao I have meleed Genbu as a BRD. My circle blade missed one time too haha. Fucking AOE WS missed a giant turtle. Never remember him countering me. Yeah Genbu is such an easy fight, it isn't any fun unless you fuck around some.

If you had shadows on before and after, thats a breath attack that showed up late...

counter's STILL get absorbed by shadows.

Wrong again Nynja. It was pointed out that the melee gaiters behave correctly and add the correct amount of HP whereas the crown behaves incorrectly according to the description. If it was a max HP boost trait screwing things up the gaiters would be off as well.

My thought is that this is a discrepency on the description text. Someone pull up a Melee Crown in japanese to see if they did the description correctly in that language maybe?

this happened to me a few times... it was my personal mog house moogle.
he was near the lower jeuno AH and was even able to send and recieve things from the DB without moving, i could take out all my items and stuff, outside of the moghouse... it was kinda cool

although it seems much more rare now, the incredibly annoying SMN bug where your pet commands mysteriously vanish for no apparent reason while you have an avatar out (thus preventing you from unsummoning it, using a BP, or telling it to do anything until the abilities either come back or you run out of MP) still exists.

solution: change a piece of gear and it will work again.

My main character is not SMN (PLD and NIN onry), but I play on a friend's account alot who is a 75SMN (well technically 74, not that i had anything to do with it :wink: ) and I ran into this glitch in Dynamis today, annoyed the hell out of me cause I'd never seen it before.

So are you saying that if the NA version has stats text that differs from what the jp version item says, then the JP version's displayed stats are the ones that are correct (always)?
