Weapon skills where Double Attack can proc.

Is there a list of which weapon skills are able to have its hits double attack(I know of the obvious 1's), since now any 75 job combination can wear a brutal(or sub war >_>), I was curious which not so common WS's can it also proc in. Just curious if the research was done extensively enough to know which 1's do and don't.

only ws that can't double attack are asuran fists and elemental ws other then that any physical ws can double attack.

Asuran can't double attack? Any reason why?

  4. #4

I suspect it being 8 hits already has something to do with it.

Asuran can double attack, its just that the total amount of hits can't go above 8. No WS can go above 8 hits. If one of the 8 misses, that frees up space for a DA proc.

How would anyone be able to tell that that happens?

sorry no, just no. Double attack gives you a lot more added damage than one hit missing costs you. I'm pretty sure it's a well noted fact that DA was removed from asuran, mabye one of out pre-RoZ players can chime in.

    What?

    8 hit total ws = 8x dmg

    7 hit ws = 7x dmg

8 hit ws where one hit missed, but was replaced by a DA hit = 8x dmg

Hmm, maybe that's why we thieves never see more than 16 TP return on Dancing Edge.

Edit: To clarify, I mean THF/NIN's with 5 TP daggers. Normal Dancing Edge gives 14 TP (6 hits because of dual wield). Dancing Edge with 1 Triple Attack proc gives 16 TP (8 hits).

Sorry, what I meant was more along the lines of has it been documented when they put the 8 hit limit in place anywhere or is it the result of people never witnessing a higher tp return that would correspond to greater than 8 hits?

That, I don't know. I only learned about this from a thread on KI... and here, I've dug it up. But, the poster above me mentioned THFs never getting higher than a 16 tp return, and any 75 MNK will tell you the same.

I double attacked once on One Inch Punch, that was a good day (I WON THE OIP CHALLENGE)!

I don't think DA procs on Asuran Fists at all.
That said, you can't prove it one way or the other.

there probably is a way, but it's as rare as hell.

If you miss the first hit of your WS, and hit all the rest (would leave you with 7), since all "other" hits are 1 TP, you'll see if you got 8 TP back instead of 7. Unless of course, a miss counts as 1 of the hits, and it refuses to hit again because of the cap.

    1) First 2 hits count as full TP.
    2) You can get 7 TP from asuran without DA: hit, whiff x5, hit, hit. Without double-attacks Asuran can legally return every TP value from 0-16 at 75/destroyers. Therefore the only way you can prove anything from TP return is if you get 17 or 18 back (which you never do).
    3) If miss "counts" as one of your 8 hits, then DA can't proc, because the maximum number of attacks in 1 round of combat is 8. The contention here is that DA can work on AF but only if you miss one hit.

Edit: the only way you could meaningfully prove it does or doesn't is to do the following test:

    1) sub warrior, perform thousands of asuran fists on exactly the same mob, count how many hits you average on the WS
    2) sub non-warrior class that doesn't get accuracy bonus, use a dex item to raise your dex to the same as war sub, perform thousands of asuran fists on exactly the same mob, count how many hits you average on the WS

If you can DA to "make up" for lost hits, your AF accuracy in scenario 1 will be very slightly higher than your AF accuracy in scenario 2.
