can you prove that and refute vegetaa's post?
What I said doesnt refute Vegetaa's post. In fact it somewhat agrees with it. Though there is some difference.

I'm not saying he's wrong because it could very well work that way. It took me a sec to click the submit button. His post wasnt there when I started typing mine

Taken with FFXI tool, that's the Horalis Peak zone. I counted 3 battlefields... so my best guess would be that when a party chooses to enter, it sets up an empty one with the battle you select, then moves you over there.

    So no instance at all.

The Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion disc will introduce an entirely new way to play FINAL FANTASY XI--“Assault” missions!

The FINAL FANTASY XI development team created the "Assault" system to provide a means of casual enjoyment for high-level players--the main target audience of the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion disc. Assault allows for parties of three to six members to enjoy gameplay that does not last a long period of time and requires little recruitment effort. Players can choose the location, decide whether or not to impose a level restriction, and select the type of Assault mission to fit with their objectives and party organization.

Players who often participate in Assault missions will earn "Imperial Standing" credits, which can be traded for items in the various Assault locations. In addition, players who succeed in an Assault mission have the possibility of obtaining a mysterious item. After receiving an appraisal in town, the mysterious item will then be displayed as a normal item.

Repeat success in Assault will also raise your mercenary rank, which will even further increase the number and variety of available Assault missions!
I thought TOAU wasn't going to be focussing on end-game player but more on mid-level to soloable content?
Sage Sundi has been wrong on more then one occasion. The expansion shows promise. :D

    Access to decent end-game gear?

    Or more crap?[/quote:32323]

I'm not realy worried about the gear anymore... Ive decided that S-E will never stop sucking in this department.

I'm hoping for more "fun" things to do... that dont entail sitting in a god forsaken pit for 3 hours wasting my life for garbage.

ToAU is looking realy promising in that aspect... lets see how long we can do it before we get totally sick of it

If this is set up like Limbus (with similar rewards), it will be a terrific addition. Even if it's only "ENMs without the annoying prerequisite steps", that will be a nice way to spend time in the game. The best part is that they're going with the Limbus-style reward, doling out points that you can then trade for what you want, instead of hoping for the 2% uber drop. The main difference from Limbus, as far as that goes, it that it sounds like it's going to be a key-item (the "credits" you earn) type of intermediate reward. If so, then there's no chance of buying up Ancient Beastcoins and skipping the effort yourself, which is no doubt a good thing.

As for instances, nothing in FFXI is instanced. All standard BCNMs are set up with multiple copies of the fight inside of a single zone, with some basic restrictions in place so that you only see the people in search, who are in your group/alliance. If they ever did get proper instances set up in FFXI, it could feasibly eliminate some drama; Dynamis and Limbus properly instanced would cut down on a lot of standing around that people have to do. So far, though, the developers haven't come up with a way to put that into the game.

Hmm.. Cuer thats a very good way to look at it. I've been crying for many months about the fact that FFXI is geared towards "group" activities... but rewards arent presented as "group" rewards.
Usually only a few people in any given group can benefit from the rewards that are given to us in-game. Limbus was a good start, for sure, and this seems to be taking it in a more positive direction.

I cant help but liken it to some systems in place in WoW and I might even go as far as saying they should take some tips in the area of instances from WoW as well, but if FFXI was ever strickend with the kind of lag we have to deal with on Kel Thazud I dont think I would ever play FFXI lol.

this sounds like a great feature for us living on odd timezones.

Now I can login for 1-2h , do some Assault (if it's fun, and I bet it is) with a few friends, then be off on my way.
