    It works pretty well.

Think of it like an RPG Metroid Prime if you want. Theres a button to toggle first/third person view too, but the third person view kinda sucks (I can't handle the camera at all in third person, bad aim).
Thanks, that was the kinda reply I was looking for ^^ Anyways, I'll probably buy this just to see what all the hype is about... Who knows, it might yank me away from FFXI and give me reason to take a much-needed break.

For any naysayers on buying this game, just buy it, if not only to support such an innovatice company. These games are always so much fun ^^

wood elf (boo for the cat race not being mithra-ish) archer, born under warrior sign, after you complete the first part of the amulet quest you get a nice treasure box from the guy full of steel weapons and armor, my steel bow is treating me very well.

I bought the feather spell once I was told about it, then bought the open very easy lock spell and spammed it on a barrel, I got enough magic knowledge to cast the feather spell and keep running in and out of the dungeon across from the sewers exit to gather enough money to invest in some acrobat training which helps in running and jumping.

I got a protect spell as well, which helps negate a few damage when I actually get suprised (not often) and then a spell called Detect Life, which is sortof like widescan, shows enemys real bright on the screen for 60 seconds.

Im going to scout around the main town for a few more dungeons to loot, then go back to the guy I turned the amulet into, he gives you his horse

I need to find out where to buy a house, Id like to store extra crap in my house and decorate it with shinys

    What is the feather spell?

There was a shack you could kill a guy in, in TES3 but I can't find anything similar in Oblivion. If anyone finds a suitable house that you can take please let me know.

Also, to Xavier, I chose Kajit with Assasin Job and Moonshadow Birth sign. I chose Moonshadow because it allows 60 seconds of 100% invisibility which can be used once a day. You basically just sleep a day, go use it and then steal what you want, then sleep a day, rinse, repeat. I eventually also want to become a Vampire for the extra Invisibility spells they offer, but I am not sure how to become one quite yet.

feather spell reduces the weight you have by 50 for 240 seconds, essentially
after things are dead in the dungeon your in and you want to run out but have too much shinys to carry, feather yourself and run your ass back to some place to unload
its best I assume for crazy cats like myself who cant stand leaving a shiny on the ground

I made a redguard warrior class/ warrior sign as my first char, level 3 and 10 hours in, pretty fun. My bro has a lot more playtime, he's playing a wood elf/marksman type.

They had that in Morrowind. I always found it wierd ... how would they know if it was stolen? Some of my stuff was from the other side of the continent.

Sono, to buy a house, you need to talk to the leader of the town. They will give the option for it if you have a high disposition (just use persuade, personality potions, voice of the emperor or bribe them etc). So many options 8)

Btw, something happened that was utterly awesome, stole stuff then went to an inn that was miles from where I did it. Then in the morning overheard 2 guards who were waiting downstairs to arrest me. Good stuff.

I made a Nord Scout (light armor/blades/athletics/repair/alchemy/block/something), born under the sign of the Thief (increased agility/speed), but I haven't actually stolen anything save for a few town guidebooks and some torches. (I'm just an asshole, I guess)

You can choose pretty much any class, or even make your own custom one - it doesn't matter. The only thing your class determines is which seven skills are Major skills. All the other skills are Minor skills. Major skills get a bonus at the start of the game (I think they start at around 20-25 instead of at 10?), and when you level up a major skill ten times your character level increases, but that's it. If I suddenly decide I want to switch gears and be a spellcaster, that's fine -- although my spells will be really weak until my skill gets higher.

I'm playing a dark-elf battlemage, figured that'd let me play around with both swords and magic a bit since from what I've read TES series tends to favor mages slightly, but I didn't want to go all out mage. I'm really enjoying the game, love the fast-travel option especially. While I definately enjoy just roaming around and discovering stuff, when working on various quests it's just so much of a time saver to just click the place you need to go (assuming you've discovered it before, but even if you havn't chances are there's somewhere close by that you have been to).

I originally wanted to do Mage Guild quests first, but I accidently stole from one of the members while they were sleeping (wanted to talk to the person but forgot I was still in sneak mode from leveling up my sneak skill) and kinda got suspended and I need to find strange items to be allowed back in...So now I'm in the Thieves Guild for now, but I keep getting caught trying to steal gold from one of the watchtowers, so I'll probably go level up my sneak/lockpicking skill more before doing much there.

Couple of issues with the game overall that most people have mentioned already...not the most intuitive interface, would be nice if you could customize the keyboard (more hotkeys) a bit more...I like third person view a lot, but it's near impossible to aim at items or foes while in that view. Also the increased lag when fighting multiple enemies at a time is annoying (I may need to lower my settings a lot, playing on max detail on PC and everything else looks great and runs fine, it's just when I'm suddenly fighting multiple things I start lagging a bit).

    Future Goal: Become a vampire.

Does anyone know a site with information on Quests?

I'm currently stuck on the first quest I've gotten from Armand of the Thieves Guild. He is asking me to go find some woman and ask her about a merchant everybody doesn't like, but I don't know where the hell this woman is.

Also there is another quest where Jensine or something of the "Good News Bad News" shop is asking me to investigate another shop owner who is undercutting everyone. So I went and investigated, got like 4 quest updates before finally getting to a point where I need to go inside his friend's house when he's not inside it. So I have been waiting outside this guys house and it's just saying it's barred from the inside and he appears to be home. How do I get inside ><.

Quests in this game are set up very poorly, and are becoming frustrating at how much they expect you to magically know. Especially where people are.

Lol, you don't sound like a good thief.

Vampire is the way to go if you want to get powerful quickly.

Although most people hate you and don't want anything to do with you, plus not being able to travel during the day, it makes you strong enough to kill the mobs/npcs that have best armor/weapons.

That's the way I used to take a "shortcut" of sorts when starting a new file in Morrowind. Get to level 10, become a Vampire, get the best gear and weapons I can get then change back and play through the story easily.

Not sure if that would work with this game though and I don't recommend it on your first time through it.

Game is still pretty new so most guides I've found are very incomplete. That being said, Gamefaqs (*shudder*) does actually have a guide or two started up that are being edited as the editor plays the game.

Quest system is actually really simplistic (almost too simplistic sometimes) in terms of it always telling you exactly what you need to do next if you read through your journal and look at your compass markers.

For that merchant quest, you need to wait for him to leave before you can enter it. Just use the Wait feature and find a time when he's not home. The door will be locked when he leaves, so unless you can find his key you'll have to pick the lock. If you do pick it, make sure there's no guards around or when you leave they'll be waiting for you. I saved right outside before opening the door, then after I went in I checked my map and clicked a fast-travel location, if you get the message "you cannot fast travel while guards are chasing you", then you were seen. Oh, you'll also have to pick the door to his basement, just to warn you.
