It's based around your minor skills. The more you level you your minor skills in between levels, the greater modifier you get for their related attributes.Originally Posted by Revenant2

I gotta go kill some dying warlord by poisoning him. So far I've managed to get all the bonus rewards except for one. I just couldn't see a way of getting past the guards in the sewers to get to that prisoner and kill him so I just butchered them all.Originally Posted by Odon~
Is leveling in this game really that slow? I'm still only level 3 though things still die pretty easy so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.
Yeah its pretty slow, your in for a big surpise in like one or two assignments for the DBH, it kinda made me sad to do it, but meh, the reward is pretty nice!
The enemies level up as you do, so wherever you go, all the enemies in the area will be in your general level range. Though they don't stay that easy.Originally Posted by Russta
I think the enemies go up a "tier" depending on what level you are, and they will stay like that until you reach a certain level that makes them go up another "tier". So when they seem easier, you're probably on the higher end of that tier, and when they are harder, you just reached a new tier.
This seems to have alot of experienced Oblivion users. I have done alot of quests so far but I have one that is really pissing me off:
I obtained the quest "Seperated at Birth" beat it fairly easily, didn't take much of any work actually.
Upon returning and talking to the two brothers I was asked to find Weatherleah... this is where things get messy in my story.
I stole a horse (don't have my own yet) without getting caught and rode it out to Weatherleah after talking to that woman in the Fighters Guild. Upon reaching Weatherleah I proceeded to ride around on my horse and I remember having 3 ogres following me.
I made the grave mistake of entering Weatherleah instead of fighting the three ogres and explored the ruined house.
I found some food and such and took it all and then one Ogre came into Weatherleah and attacked me, I killed it.
I left Weatherlead and headed north to Huntskin or w/e that little half burned village is called and right before I reached the back of the Chapel another Ogre attacked me and I killed it.
So that's 2 ogres killed, and I believe there are three.
I go back to Weatherleah, not knowing slaying these ogres will be my next task and talk to Jamine. He tells me to kill the Ogres, so I figure ok, go back to Weatherleah, slay some Ogres and hopefully I'll trigger a quest update or something. Here's my problem:
No Ogres at Weatherleah, not one at all. I even spent 2 days searching all around Weatherleah, found multiple ruins, forts and a few mines. Didn't find one freaking Ogre.
Right now I am simply going on the fact that there are 3 ogres and I already slayed 2. Are there more Ogres than three? Is there something simple I'm missing. Is the third Ogre glitched and gone for some reason? Please any information on this quest would be greatly appreciated, I'm counting on you guys for help![]()
It made me sad to do that too. They're the only missions I've truly focused on doing and as they welcome you as a family... meh. But you're right, Shadowmare was a fucking awesome reward - shame I knocked it unconcious and killed myself within three minutes of having it lol.Originally Posted by Odon~
I managed to do the the quest where you have to switch the medicine for the poison without getting detected and without using chameleon, hardest shit so far. It felt like FFXI when the bonus reward I got for doing that was a lot worse than an item called Glibbs Tounge I found within ten minutes of starting the game though.
So...
I'm a Wood Elf Stealth with
Block, Blade, Alchemy, Light armour, Marksmen, Sneak, Illusion
at any rate, i've been lvling like crazy(lvl 9-10 right now), namely cause of sneak being my major and it's at like 63 while blade and other stuff is still at 40-50.
So my health is like 130ish 100 magicka, and like 240 fatigue. My AGI is a high 90ish, with str, endu, per, int and others around 40-60.
**** SPOILERS MAYBE ******
So there was this FUCKING amazing quest, you have to find this legendary painter, and he is trapped in his painting, you go in and a thief had stolen his "True brush" or somthing.... the world looks like a impressionist painting world, and it's some of the more creative quest design i've seen to date... BUT ANYWAY!
there are like 6-7 "painted trolls" and he gives you like 6 poisons that do 100 damage, Troll ROCK my world sooo much it's just sick... with Shield spell up and block i'll take 10-15% damage, and these things stagger me almost every time they hit... 6-7 unblock fast ass hits take me down to the ground. Well they have some of the most insane regen i've ever seen in this game.
So i read up and see that they are weak to fire. and I had like No more of the 100 damage poison pots.... so tell me if this sounds right, or is my character a weak ass...
Sneak attack with Elven arrow + steel bow, and a 3heal damage for 13 sec poion. Sneak attack so 3x.... Then I load a fatigue poison on the same setup, and hit... path him to a rock wall i'm standing on. Proceed to use about 15 Flare (weakest destruction) and 8 more elven arrows with the same health poison, swith to steel arrows that just hold his regen in place, wait for magicka to come back up, burn him 2x with flare, switch to my enchant sword, jump down, and hit him like 6 times, and barely live.
Is this a normal troll fight, way do they suck so much, or have a leveled and made a bad build? everything else seems good ><;
*****************************
I did that quest too Ondori. I didn't find it hard at all though and I actually one-shotted them with the turpentine on my blade. The reward you get is pretty damn good (though I don't use it) so stick with it.
Can you tell me your info... i'm thinking i fucked up my character build.
How come i'm getting hit so hard. I use light armour... is that a mistake?
and 1 shot those mobs!? you are joking me......
Having some kind of enchantment on your weapons will make for a huge increase in damage, up to the point that you can easily 1-2 shot some mobs. For example, while doing the Allies for Bruma quest and closing various Oblivian Gates, the Sigils you get could have a really nice damage bonus on them, such as +15 Shock Damage. Put that on any plain weapon (as in, not already enchanted) and you will see a huge increase in your damage compared to normal weapons. Just make sure to keep some Soul Gems handy to recharge the weapons since they tend to go through their charges pretty fast.
I have my own custom build I named "Scientology" in game lol. I'm essentially a Warrior with speech skills and fleetool.exe though. It just took one charged swing from my turpentine enchanted blade to kill them dead, easy. I was only level 2 (maybe 1) so perhaps you being level 7 is making them significantly harder? That's my only guess but I'm sure your build makes many parts of the game easier that my build would struggle on.Originally Posted by rooster
One question myself; is there any place where I can buy lockpicks constantly? I can't find anywhere that always has them in stock or just one big quantity and I go through them so damn fast that it would be great to know somewhere to keep stocking up.

Ya you can get picks there... or I'll just look for a bandit dungeon.
picks, gold, and easy kills.
Also, i really sat down and studied the lvling/skill scaling system and at lvl 10 i have a good understanding and think there is still hope for me. I'm not going to lvl till i get my skills up a lil' more. I'm really really REALLY enjoying the fk out of this game though.
cant wait to get home.
At some point the auto-scaling difficulty system can come back to bite you in the ass. The difficulty of the monsters you face is based somewhat on your character level, but if most of your major skills are non-combat then your combat skills won't be high enough to win. It can be somewhat uneven, too... I was wandering around just northwest of Imperial City at level 17, hit 18, and suddenly I get attacked by freaking minotaurs and sylphs. Then I across a brown bear that kicked my ass. It was tough for a while, but I went and closed an Oblivion gate and did a ton of combat, which really buffed up my block/blade/light armor skills so it isn't as bad now.

Well, how about this Oblivion dupe glitch.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 5384655212
Use two types of arrows, say A & B. Have as many arrow B as possible.
Equip arrows A, draw and aim straight up.
While holding your mouse button, tab into the inventory. Release the mouse and try to equip arrows B *twice*. Drop an item then close your inventory.
It will dupe the amount of your item according to the number of arrow B that you have
My Build is a Breton Female, Mage, majoring in mostly conjuration. For those FFXI fans, this is mostly the SMN build. Once you get the paralyze spell though, the game pretty much ends right there. Oh and for that topic of which platform is better, well i prefer 360 over PC because of the controls. Just like the previous people stated the interface is wacky on PC.
I completed all the Dark Brotherhood missions and now own the guild and harvest it for a small amount of gil each week. The rewards for finishing them all are pretty amazing - the final set of armour you get, access to Shadowmare and enhanced Blade of Woe. The story was really, really good too. I started to get a little bored of it during the monotonous deed drop missions but just when I thought all creativity had gone, BAM, massive twist! I loooooove this game!
Does anyone know where I can get a no cd crack for Oblivion. I do actually own the game but my problem is my PC takes like 5 fucking minutes to read the disc and refuses to start up if it's in the drive. I know I'm not the only one who's had this problem but having a 4GB iso on my desktop isn't a very good solution...
Yeah, I get all mine from http://www.gamecopyworld.com
Its not working for me ><Originally Posted by Vade
