Let me put it this way and if you don't understand where we are coming from then there's no point going on anymore.
People are trying to say that weed is addictive because it causes your body to release more of a pleasure-inducing chemical than normal.
Well, shit, you are absolutely right! It does do that and hell yeah that can be addictive!
But guess what: so is almost every single thing worth doing in this world.
Every single vice, every single pleasurable act can be considered addictive.
Alchohol, tobacco, sex, gambling, videogames, even FOOD can be considered addictive because they cause an abnormal amount of pleasure through chemical stimulation.
Is the only reason we want marijuana legalized is because we want to get high without getting in trouble with the law? No shit! How do you even use that as an argument?
Smoking weed is less harmful to yourself and much less to others then many of the things that ARE legal. Does that make any kind of fucking sense?
If they legalize marijuana you still have your choice. Just as you choose whether to smoke cigarettes or drink alchohol or stuff your face with unhealthy, but great tasting food, play videogames until the early morning and any other things you enjoy doing.
WE aren't the ones bashing you for making those choices, it would be nice if you politely gave us the same courtesy.
If you dont remember it, is it truly wasted ??Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

I'm sure the time you guys spent in FFXI wouldn't be considered a waste.![]()
If your addicted to a video game thats cooler than being addicted to marijuana? Right.
You assumed it was my own assumption?Originally Posted by Shaede
Those who want to smoke it, they will, regardless if it's legal or not. I would like to know why is it illegal in the first place? Anyone?
EDIT: I'd like to add this. Everytime I watch news channels before work, I always see reports on new studies about various things. For example, one day they reported Coffee is bad for you etc etc, next day they say it helps and is actually a good thing.
I don't believe a single study out there about any of the shit people say is bad for you. What I do believe, is that people have different make up of mind and body, every one of us. Hense the reaction to w/e agent is different to everyone.
Because it's bad for physcial and mental reasons. Why isnt crack legal?
Yeah yeah, so are cigs and alcohol, and the only reasons they arnt illegal (yet) is because of the huuuuge bitching across the nation there would be, it would be a huge adjustment to our society, but thats a diffrent topic. Weed has always been illegal so it doesnt run into that problem. Its like letting a tiger out of its cage with a bunch of small animals running around.
It has something to do with the words "cotton" and "slavery".
Seriously, comparisons like this make you look stupid. It's embarrassing. Stop.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

Are you fucking stupid? Yes, you are...
I knew you wouldn't read it in my original post... Anti-drug people are stubbornly ignorant and will do anything to avoid learning the truth.
Here's a link that I posted 2 pages ago, explaining why marijuana is illegal
READ THIS YOU FUCKING IGNORANT IDIOT
I also paraphrased it in in my original post: "Basically, a bunch of fucking stupid americans made it illegal for selfish, ignorant, and racist reasons, then spread their disease around the world and we're still paying for their fucking idiocy."
It's illegal for me to smoke weed because of a bunch of hick american nylon producers and racist cunts.
You don't make things illegal because they're bad for you. Look under your kitchen sink. See all those skulls? Those things are way worse for you than weed.
I don't keep anything under my sink.![]()
And compairing weed to video games is ok? lol sure.Originally Posted by Erebus

I didnt know you could smoke video games, guess this is what happens when drugs dont give you a high any more.Originally Posted by Erebus
Of course it is your assumption, as it's not provable. From my perspective it would seem the opposite to be true. I'm sure there are a lot of people who do not use pot because it is illegal or because of the negativity surrounding it. If it was accepted in our law and our culture, I'm sure more people would do it. I don't see any reason anyone who uses it it now would simply stop because it became legal, so I don't see how the number of users could go anywhere but up. Over time, though, if people are educated more about it, we might see people use it less and less in the pursuit of a more healthy and rewarding reacreational activity. On the long run it, though, it's really impossible to predict with certainty.Originally Posted by Hirronimus
Why is it illegal? Well, these are the facts and opinions I've gained over time on the issue.
In 1906 the Pure Food and Drug Act was passed. At the time, there were many products that contained dangerous drugs in them, such as over the counter cough medicine containing cocaine. The Pure Food and Drug Act put a quick stop to such things, for the protection of the consumer against businesses that would exploit them with drugs.
Not long after came the Harrison Act. This came due in part to the opium epidemic at the time. There was much debate about this act, from it's purpose to how it came to be.
The Harrison Act's official title:
'An Act to provide for the registration of, with collectors of internal revenue, and to impose a special tax upon all persons who produce, import, manufacture, compound, deal in, dispense, sell, distribute, or give away opium or coca leaves, their salts, derivatives, or preparations, and for other purposes ."
This landed hundreds of thousands of addicts into prisons for the first time, creating quite a stir. These addicts, suffering from withdrawl, got no aid. It wasn't long before the drug trade was taken up by the underground market in the 20s, at the dawn of organised crime in America.
When prohibition hit, this only turned attention to marijuana as it became the replacement for the now illegal alcohol. The Federal Narcotics Commissioner started advocating against marijuana, claiming it caused insanity and violence, so by 1937 48 states had passed anti-marijuana laws.
That same year came the Marijuana Tax Act modelled after the Harrison Act, which placed marijuana on the same level as opium and heroin.
*sigh* This is too much effort for this thread, really damnit. Look it up yourself. Basically, laws kept being enacted to control new substances, synthesized drugs and so fort modelled after these old laws and opinions that really didn't have any sense of reality in them until we have a very confused "war on drugs" today that doesn't really do anything but put America's national debt lower each year while filling the pockets of the upper level government assholes with drug money. Blah blah, I'm getting kinda tired of this, stop being so lazy and just educate yourself and draw your own damn conclusions.
People have directly DIED from playing videogames too long. And adding to the fact that your last post makes no fucking sense, I'll be ignoring you now. :DOriginally Posted by SephirothYuyX
To Shaede: Tobacco...
My grandma smokes pot so she can eat. Her kemo treatment takes away her appetite.
So is my grandma a drugged out loser?

Bow @ ignoring, idiotic ramblings are the only thing that get me through work. Rambling to myself has lost the edge it once had.
Very good question. Why isn't crack legal? I'll never advocate cocaine use, however, I don't think the government should be telling us what's ok and what isn't ok for us to do to our own bodies.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

Why isn't it illegal to saw your own leg off?
Did you know that the US government spends annually $20 billion dollars on the war on drugs? And did you know that since the war on drugs was implemented, drug use has actually risen?
It's a pointless battle that they shouldn't be fighting anyway, and they'll never win.
