2.6 ghz dual core processor, 2gigs of DDR ram, Radeon Pro 9600 Video Card.... 80gb hard drive... it cost me a pretty penny and i'd like to think of it as top notch... but i lag when i 2box..... whats your laptop specs?

Kuno's statement of saying "A second PC" is the logical one here. He replied to Kuno like he was saying something wrong, which he wasn't, he was absolutely right. I guess getting onto him for using the wrong termonology is a little overdramatic though.

Also like to add, I play a 56 PLD which is a friends account all the time to PL myself. Since I don't have a second PC I just use windower also to run two instances of FFXI so I can heal myself and still play and shit. I get no lag and my PC isn't amazing but isn't crap either. Your computer is almost identical to mine except for the Ram, which is more actually, so either you have something running in the background using too much of your systems memory, or you just need to tone down your background resolution to the medium setting. So yeah, I know that it's possible to "2box" on one PC, but making someone look stupid, especially Kuno, over your wrong use of words isn't right.

Pretty sure 2box usually means 2 computers but I have heard it applied to 2 ffxi instances as well and I don't think anyone is a moron for saying it.

my system specs are near the same as yours, tiny bit faster processor and a better video card, but I can run 3 ffxi at once with 19 fps, and 2 chars in dynamis with 19 fps constant while running winamp/itunes, xchat, gaim, the vanasig shit (surprisingly cpu hoggy 0_o) and have a firefox open with a couple tabs. Something is munching your cpu funny bud, task manager ftw~

I use 2 different PC's since I got one for free a while ago this is relatively new. Even on the high-end system I will get lag if theres lots of people/animations around, especially in Jeuno, so it's to be expected.

Regardless, Rustymetal probably had the best idea to reduce the lag for your system. There is nothing wrong with omega drivers either. But they are more useful for newer video cards where you want to run FFXI without lag during fucking fire and bard spells. However, older cards generally can run with newer drivers and not lag too much (Geforce4, etc).
