Easy. I just put an AIM box over the screen. Hit start, alt tab, free to move about while puppy runs away.

How the fuck do you not shoot him? All I can figure out is that if you hold click on start button it will prevent the gun from firing for a few seconds.

Edit: I figured it out. At level 3 you get a damn pop up

Just wait about 20 seconds and the puppy runs past the hammer. Each level is the same, but there is a temptation to move it each level.

Do not move your mouse. If you move it, it shoots. Just click start and keep your mouse still.

Completed after a million times figuring it out on level 1 The ad tricked me. Apparently tricked this guy too:

i was doing fine up until that stupid overlay ad showed up and ruined my efforts. no matter, it just gave me another filter for my adblock files normally i try to leave ads on blogs like this cause i want to support the fun, but when things get in the way, they get blocked. webmaster take note, that’s what happens when you use annoying/intrusive advertisements!

Hmmm, I did 4 levels of watching that stupid dog trod across my screen; when I saw it pick up a little red ball I just got so disgusted by the sheer cuteness of the matter that I quickly twitchd my mouse, relishing in the fact I had just shot the puppy.
