If they put actual effort into the room it could be good.
I.E. Minigames to play with ppl or perhaps being able to choose different layouts or themes when you reserve it. PvP arena amongs friends.

There are so many things that they could do to make it have an actual purpose for which ppl will go there. However judging by their track record...

I can't think of any other reason for this to exist

I've walked in taverns(non-Eco Warrior) in the main town to see LSes gathered together, talking to each other in /say.

Its not practical, but it has a reason.

You have to stop and think though, why the hell is an LS gathered to talk in /say? Why the fuck would anyone type in /say for a LS meeting in some reserved area when they could just as easily type in /linkshell lol... it eludes me.

The only thing that this will be nice for is for those few linkshells on every server that "roleplay". You know, the one where everyone pretends to be their characters and cybers the hell out of eachother. The one where you have to type "ooc:" before anything you say that is "Out of Character"; or you will be kicked from the LS... Yeah SE loves it's weirdos

Instead of seeing it as so alien, just think for a moment. You don't need to roleplay to /sit next to someone you are /telling while bored in Jeuno. It is just that to a greater extent.

I don't see what the big deal is. It doen't take up a "Fix the game" slot, and it's not going to be used for cyber more than its going to be used for "pointless" LS meetings. You can go joke/complain about something important.

lol, I get what you're saying, but that way is so un-sociable, you cant really tell if half the people are AFK, non face to face communication isnt the same as face to face ( even in game ).
