Im pretty sure that the standard understanding of a pickup party is simply a party of strangers who are "picked up" through /search invites - IE, anything that isnt a static party, or a party of people you know. Hence the lack of understanding of what the heck you are talking about.

As to preferring a pickup party starting in jeuno, or a pickup party to which you are invited as a replacement, I prefer neither - but atleast the pickup party that starts in jeuno doesnt have such a large chance of me getting there, eating a 3hr 40k food, and then disbanding 2 minutes and 1 mob later.

I got a replacement PT for an hour just before Dynamis. I was told I was replacing BRD and they were getting 2-3k/hr... with BRD... Surprisingly enough, NIN/3WAR/2SMN worked like a charm and we got 8kEXP, before I had to leave.

NIN/3WAR/2SMN? What job were you? Your sig says you have BRD/PLD/RDM at 75 >.>

At first I hated the last pt'ing adjustment, but at least it taught everyone, sorry, forced everyone to use the /sea all inv range-range. Now I can seek anywhere, I dont have to stay stranded in jeuno, and I will get a party.

never thought that was possible .

only ways you can not get BRD to 75 quickly is if you static or just don't XP.

the farther you go back in time, the better invite rates were for PLDs because a lot of people were too poor to level NIN and any tank is better than no tank. PLD invite rates were probably never great but at a certain time it was decent, unlike how it is now.

You'd be surprised how much invites a BRD gets, or in my case doesn't. 40-50 I lfg for close to 6ish hours? My freshly renewed signet wore off.

How long did it take you to get BRD 75 with your static?

I leveled PLD on the cusp of NIN craze actually. Sometimes I was seeking against 2-3 other NINs my level range. It gets especially worse once you hit Lv.73 mark considering now you can PT with Lv.75 people who either do merits or trying to get buffer.

Just sit in your mog house with the job level menu up, and switch your jobs that you want to level every 30-45 seconds. Rotate between the jobs you want and if someone is searching properly they'll find you.

I've known people to do that and it works well. It requires you to actually do something while seeking, but it is possible to seek on multiple jobs.
