I think he's just saying that it's better to take things that can later be traded for gil or RMT'ed than ra/ex gear. However, he's investing so much into a relic weapon that he can never RMT away (or regain gil from) without giving up his character along with it. So... it makes him a hypocrite to say don't go for ra/ex things.

Some fag LS botted a nid and Sirlancelot got a M.Body. I put a search comment up saying "The only reason you got a M.Bd is because your linkshell openly uses Argus. Fuck kings and fuck you." I edited it 5 minutes later changing "fuck" to "fk" so I wouldnt get burned for cuss words. Yet, in those 5 minutes, they managed to get a GM and I recieved a 2 day suspension for "a harassing search comment". When I recieved my POL email 3 days later, it had that original search comment, the one that was up for 5 minutes. How do you get a GM to reply to you within 5 min ?? Be in a predominantly french linkshell and get a french GM. Simple.

Of course I felt that's bullshit and was strongly considering quitting. I used my 2nd acct mule (Slrlancelot, the one "I used to steal accounts") to sell most of my shit. I had amassed almost 100M in gil, and still had around 15m in gear as well as ~850 shells and ~350 bynes. It was an emotional ride for me, partially because I hadn't "beaten" FFXI, and a bunch of friends were doing everything in their power to get me to stay. In the end, I couldnt leave the people I met on FF behind, and most certainly, there is no way in hell I would let those botting faggots win.

If you're leveling other jobs and feel strongly about Chi Blasting on your MNK, Osode.

If you're a MNK and only worried about melee, Togi. Seriously, even during WS, I'd probably still say Togi is better, as the acc/att will probably help more then the 10STR/10VIT (A.Fists cant crit so meh on Dex) on Osode, considering the modifier is so insignificant. By "help more" I mean parse better on average, not give you the highest WS possible.

With cap'd h2h merits, shura legs and a p.charm ACC is never an issue. I do carry eye drops for if the mages are lazy.

and as for the attack, as i said, when your atk is already around 600-700 with zerk/food/minuets, the extra 20 is negligable when compared to the benefits of str/dex/vit/agi from the osode, as well as the 30 hp as opposed to the -35 from togi.


And unless you can give me a parse that actually controls for the piece of equipment you are testing (cough aurik :wink: ) then i'm not going to be swayed by a comment w/o evidence.

There seems to be your problem. Drop Minuet III, wear Togi to make up for it and let Victory March do more for your damage than either body piece will do.

Victory March owns Minuet III in so many ways its not funny. Switching to that from Minuet III in an U.Range PT made the fights so much smoother...recasts better, and all around EXP/hour higher. Though I'm kinda dissapointed how little Minuet IV is better then III. (only 7 attack more.)

So since we have basically all agreed that MNK's job is to max merits we have to get into this Togi/Osode horseshit debate. You know what Osode's only claim to fame for MNK is over Togi? +10 STR. That's it. You can bring up the defense over Togi all you want, but I'm fairly certain everyone in meripo that comes MNK has learned why MNK/NIN is the preferred choice of champions, so the 52 defense is virtually meaningless.
MNKs bread and butter is the Togi, because contrary to idiocy, +20 ATK and +10 ACC regardless of how much ATK and ACC you currently have, do actually mean something! Determining what kind of food you can eat as Russta brought up, or doing merit in an area where the mob level range is large really should put Togi into a new light.

And another thing, why are you nigs bringing up other jobs, if in the poll it specifically states that MNK is the only shit you've got? niggaplz.

All this while not giving the mob any TP at all, owns.

In the hnmls I'm in, we have used MNK/NIN as tanks for Ada/Aspi a few times. And I'm not saying MNK isn't good on the Shinra, but really what is bad on the Shinra? MNK only has the kind versatility to run up and beat the shit out of soft mobs like Suzaku, Seiryu and then sit back and Chi Blast on like Genbu and Kirin like you said (which while beneficial, 4 gods are such cake).

Now, we regularly include RDM/WAR in our non-tank pts at Faf/Nid to collect excess hate from tanks to try to protect the blms and bards more. The voking and warcry rarely draws immediate hate, but it has helped collect the excess hate that can be accrued when for some reason the mob isn't on the PLDs anymore. I don't necessarily agree with using it 100% of the time but I think I'd rather have RDM/WAR over MNK/NIN in this case because of the gradual hate collection and survivability, as opposed the bursts that a chi-blast will give.
