Ballista is a far different beast. I don't play ballista so I wouldn't know the best about it.
All you need to know is mnk owns in ballista..Originally Posted by aurik
The only 2 times I ballista'd I spent 95% of my time gravitied/bound/slept. Wasn't very fun.
Brenner on the other hand is a blast.
Yea bernner is lots of fun for a mnk, well it was fun for me too but only when i had mp, i actually just ran to a mnk when i ran out of mp let him kill me so i can spawn back with full mp lolOriginally Posted by aurik
I had a few blm vs blm fights, pretty cool, it's basically who can silence who first like an old western draw seqence lol! whoever gets silenced just runs for their lives(no no echo drops, we take all spells like men! 8) )
Dear god, finally someone who actually mentionns that people with multiple 75's will merit multiple jobs !Originally Posted by Raineer
I didn't try brenner yet, something else on my todo list i suppose. For ballista yeah 10 against 1 is not as fun and good teams are good at luring ppl in and gang-attacking them one by one, scoring, etc.Originally Posted by aurik
But you can usually just agree with someone to meet in a more recluse area without interference and with time to prepare, and just do 1 on 1.
I usually at least dig up a poison pot before engaging, so sleep is never a problem. bind and gravity i usually take care of with shadows, and often they will use diaga on you to remove shadows which kinda only helps you so you can save that poison potion for later.
After that they can either engage you or try to attack/cast from a safe distance. If they engage obviously bind and gravity don't matter as much (assuming they can really cast one through your shadows, long cast time, you can save a ni for that) and they will likely die (especially if they are a mage or a melee without full tp). Bind also doesn't last very long.
If they don't engage kinda defeats the purpose of a one on one, everyone knows monk's pebbles are not quite as fearsome.. A rdm could gravity and try to solo a mnk the same way they solo a big NM like genbu, run, cast, gravity, run, cast, etc. You can avoid that by using the dash (flee) command and basically stall, but yeah at that point it would be meaningless to have that one-on-one.
But we're talking about good MNKs. Not someone who just leveled the job into a Black Belt and uses it for meriting.Originally Posted by NynJa

The chances nowadays of a MNK75 (or any other DD75) getting into a very established/good HNMLS is very low, most if not all want people with multiple jobs, exceptions bieng brd or rdm.
Who's talking about HNMLS? Am I? Were you? Is the OP?
Here's the truth: If you're a MNK, and you don't have 8 merits in H2H, you are at least as gimp as someone with a Brown Belt, without a Brutal, without Dune Boots, whatever. You're not at your best. So again, who the fuck cares what some second-rate gimp MNK uses to merit with?
Osode>Togi from my experencies. I've tested them both and found better results with Osode. I actually regret wasting the gil to uncurse togi![]()
If you have 3 mage job's like me for example, theres nothing meritable in any of them that conflicts with maxxing out MNK merits, or any DD for that matter. (I'm whm, smn, blm for LS stuff) I can merit as MNK and be just as able to be geared and meritted as any MNK who's only job is MNK. Second rate is perhaps someone with only melee jobs leveled, and he has merits in axe, sword, Gkt, etc, but for those who are mages for LS and MNK for fun its hardly second rate.Originally Posted by Tom Chambers
Uhhh...okay dude, argue with Nynja then. He's the dumbshit that brought other jobs up.
See where I specifically responded to someone talking about people who didn't merit H2H? And then see where dumbshit came in and started talking about other jobs, like I meant you had to be MNK-only?Originally Posted by NynJa
This begs another question: I'm MNK-WHM-NIN and I would never dream of meriting katana. What the fuck for? To be a gimp MNK/NIN when it comes to tp burns? To solo marginally better? It certainly wouldn't help me tank HNMs and Wyrms any better. And i would merit club for...what exactly? 8 in H2H and 4 in evasion finishes combat skills. And it makes me not gimp in my DDing job.
Who the fuck levels multiple DD jobs anyway? Pick one job for each role in a party (tank, DD, healer/support) and be the best at it. Don't be a gimp DRK, gimp WAR, and a gimp MNK because you wanted to put a couple merits in multiple jobs. Or, at the least, don't fucking cry when someone tells you you're half-assed at those jobs.
So Nynja, level all the jobs you want and put one merit into every type of weapon you can. Go right ahead. But I don't want to catch your silly ass talking about what gear is optimal for the job when you don't even know how to maximize your potential in just one. Now shut the fuck up.
this Tom Chambers is a fucking retard.
Ban him alongside Maxxgeokitty ffs.
Ban nynja too, how retarded to you have to be to make this post:Originally Posted by NynJa

Nynja didn't post that. WOW
Last I checked I wasn't NynJa >.>
Level what you want, merit what you want, who gives a shit.
That being said, I'll agree its pretty damn gimp to not have 8/8 combat merits for whatever you consider your main melee job.
But comparing merits to stuff like a blackbelt is silly, one requires a couple hours of time, another requires months of camping shit, and getting in a linkshell that more than likely isnt going to accept someone who is only a 75 monk.
