Agree with Aurik. All the successful endgame linkshells on Titan, which includes Sea, Dynamis, HNM, etc., all run off of point systems. Need before Greed sucks. You work for what you want and earn it. Qb (the WHM) definitely put in the effort to get the earring, and nobody really said otherwise. He can do whatever he wants with it since he earned it: use it for Banish damage, lend it out to people, or tape it to a stick and use it to scratch his ass.

And yet some LSes adopt the philosophy of others sacrificing for their LS members for the good of the LS. Some people like to see the right gear go to the right players (those players which, performance-wise would gain the most from the item), so in turn you can do more things, more often, and with less people. Keep in mind this still also takes attendance into play. Even if someone doesnt benefit from an item as much as another jobwise, if the one person is on 20 times more then the more benefited job, he would still get the item. (a veteran THF in comparison to a newly joined WAR.)

I guess everythings different on Siren though, since nearly no LS on Siren zergs things, and our member counts are usually very low in comparison to other servers. Things are more about how GOOD your members are, and not how many people you can bring to a camp. Everything is much more personal, and usually decided by a council within the LS. We don't usually have attendance issues with things despite not having a point system, and I feel point systems can cause unneccesary greed within the LS. I guess though when you have 60-80 people in an LS, it's really hard to just tell people "its ok, one day you'll get it, just wait in line." We won't stop camping Tiamats till the lowest of members gets them, till the newest members get them. But...when you have like 60+ members, how do you tell people just wait in line, when you need 30+ Gaiters? Basically that is when point systems need to be in place, when your LS is just too big to promise everyone they will eventually get everything they want.

Kinda rantish, and I know alot of this doesnt apply to Seashell, since they're just doing this to get items, not benefit their LS as a whole (since its a compilation LS.)

Need before greed has been tried on Titan. It broke the first shell that was able to kill Fafnir. Since Sky was the big thing back then, attendance issues were big when people were farming the pop items. Magiccally when it came around to kill the gods, attendance was fantastic. Personally, people on titan have come to expect points. Its the "standard" system. It ain't perfect but it works for us. If your system works for Siren, more power to you.

Luckily sky is decent money. We give credit and split drops to people that get triggers as well. However atm bahamut#2 farming> everything as far as fun and money.

Where would PLD/NIN come into the mix? Compare the belt to Speed Belt. The only reason you say PLD/NIN is for the shadow cast right? PLD can use Speed Belt, and they're not going to get use out of the Attack or Subtle Blow. And we all know how much spell interruption down helps on anything above VT...

I'm going to assume if that if you're killing AV your LS probably doesn't have LS events in Jugner Forest to get Speed belts.
