We originally had people engaged with weapons. After he used invincible while I was engaged with Justice sword, we figured it was pointless so just went back to nuking.

That wasn't really my point. I was just getting at the fact that it is extremely difficult to order the importance of these drops for certain jobs.Originally Posted by Maxxthepenguin
You can't just order them in terms of importance and hand them out like that. For example, the order might be (for the sash) NIN, THF, rest of melees (not MNK), MNK, RDM, ..., etc. I think you get my point. Then do we give it to all the NINs first (regardless of points compared to other jobs) and move down the list? I think that's more broken than the way we do it now.
Second of all, this really has nothing to do with bettering our sea LS in the grand scheme of things (especially with melee drops). Melees do almost nothing against JoL and absolutely nothing against AV.
Basically what I'm saying is, in a point-based LS, there is no way to put priority on jobs for items equippable by all jobs. The same deal goes for the Justice Torque (STR+5, scythe/g.katana+7). It's a sweet example for stuff like this. Should DRKs and SAMs get priority over other melees because they benefit more? That's ideal, but a random melee with 5 times the points of a DRK who just started will get it. Is it the end of the world? I don't really think so...
think torques might have any bearing on the fight? I dunno how you that would seal his 2hrs though -.- so might be a dumb idea.
I don't get why everyone is ripping on them for giving drops out in an odd manner, they already stated that the LS is made of alot of major HNM LSs on the server and they get together to do sea as a group, setting it up with anything but a points system ala dynamis would be dumb.
Here's how my ls deals with the right job getting items first, while at the same time rewarding people who bust their ass:
In sky anyway, you have two opportunities to earn credits: sky farming on Thursday and demis/kirin on Sunday. Farming earns you 2 credits per hour because it's boring, while demis earns you one credit per hour. Staying the whole time for Kirin nets you 10 credits because it sucks and not everyone gets something.
All of the sellable drops (v.claw, d.log, etc) are sold and added to the bank. At the end of the month, you can either bank your credits to get more of the gil split from the bank, or save them to increase your lotting priority status. If you are going to use these items for getting gear for yourself crafted, you can use some of your credits to buy it from the ls at a 20% discount. At any rate, you still get some of the gil, but the exact amount is determined from an equation, which I can get into more detail if you want.
Lotting on rare/ex items is based off what tier you are on for that item, which is based off your job priority status, and the number of credits you have. For every 50 points you have over the other people that want that item, you move up a tier. For example, our job priority for zenith mitts looks like this:
Aquarian Abjuration: Hands - BLM >>> (RDM, WHM, SMN, BRD)
So say I have 50 points. That means I lot the item before everyone else that has 99 points or less, and is not a blm. In order for a RDM to lot against me, he would have to have 100 points, which takes a long time to do, and to lot before me, he would have to have 150 points, which takes even longer. This system encourages people to come to events, because as long as you help out the ls, it will reward you while at the same time being fair to all jobs. Other items work in a similar way:
Byakko's Haidate - NIN >>> (MNK, WAR) >>> (BST, BRD, RNG, SAM)
W.Abjuration: Lg. - PLD >>> RDM >>> (RNG, DRG, DRK)
Seiryu's Kote - RNG >>> NIN >>> (WAR, MNK, BST, SAM, BRD)
etc.
Osode, pole, and shining cloth are collected by officers, and voted on who gets it based on who ever is the most dedicated, and who has put the most work in the ls outside of sky too. Sea and HNM work in a similar fashion, and snow Dynamis AF can be lotted on by whoever is within 80% of the best person's attendance for that job, with some other restrictions. All of this is meticulously recorded in a huge excel spreadsheet with macros and several worksheets within it for Sea, Sky, etc.
Novio earring would be like BLM >>> RDM >>> WHM >>> Else, so a WHM would have to have 150 credits above all the blm to get that earring, plus be a complete asshole. Not only would a whm never have 150 credits over a blm, but officers would intervene and not let that happen. I don't know how everyone else's ls work in terms of drops, but I am more than happy with mine. Everything is democratic and fair, and your lotting status is viewable by everyone, so there are no surprises. If anyone wants to see our spreadsheet, or the "banking credits to get more gil" thing, I'll see what I can do for you.
In conclusion, a WHM getting Novio is beyond bullshit, especially considering how much work it takes to get to JOL, and I would probably leave the ls if that happened. You should talk to your BLMs Map, because they think that is BS, whether they say anyhting or not.
You all are a bunch of loot whores. Items items items....
Squabling over an item that's not in LS and not yours to distribute on top of that.
LoL![]()
BLM should get Ninurta's Sash, yo.
This is basically another problem. Since we're composed of players from 4-5 major HNM LSs on our server, we can't go with a point-less system. I'm sure the LS would fall apart in days when people accused others of favortism.Originally Posted by Krandor
To Vodo: That system you have for your shell isn't bad at all. The problem with applying that to sea was that the point system was setup before we even knew what we were getting into. You just get 1 point for showing up for 1 day worth of stuff. It's like typical dynamis shells in that respect. So if we wanted to change something about item distribution, we'd have to change something about point distribution.
The system isn't perfect but we really haven't had any offensive bids at this point (the WHM was probably the worst, by most people's standards).
It's their LS and they killed AV.
i don't see you anywhere in the sentence, so don't talk shit on their drops
Ok here's how it went with Novio Earring
Not gona be using names cept mine
Blm#1 Has most points, I think 40 at the time. He is in his own tier and can lot anything before anyone else. He passed earring, because he rather have Justice Torque for his Drk.
Whm Is in tier right below him, and has 37 points I think, he's gotten everything else he wants so he wants to lot this. He decides to lend it out to everyone that can need/want to use it, not just in SeaShell
Blm#2 Is a tier lower than the whm, but didn't show ANY interest at all really, even though he has Rdm and Blm leveled up.
Blm#3 Me! I wanted the earring, I'm in same tier as Blm#2 but I only have 30 points versus the Whm's 37ish points.
So, with our rules, since it was "All jobs may equip" the whm got earring, we settled it within our ls and no harm came of it. Map gave me a neat example when I talked in PM's with him. He told me about how the first Osode was given to a Bst or something, and thats basically like this. Many jobs can use Osode and you would think those many other jobs would get more use out of it, but the Bst got it because he worked hard and had the points!
We also got a Mars Ring today, the acc/att one. Blm#1 who is also drk, passed that ring, and it went to tier lower, which included me, a whm/brd, and a mnk/smn/sam/blm. The mnk/smn/sam/blm didn't want it, and I did, Kinda. I was going to take it but I thought of it and said hell with it and passed it to Avinor. I want sash, chakram, and gkatana moreand knowing we can kill + get drops made me choose to save points.
The whm worked hard, and got a reward, thats it basically. He has attended about 1-2 months more sea runs than I have, so he's put a lot more work into it than I have. He was dedicated and showed he deserved something, so by your rules about osode Vodo, he got it because of those attributes he has shown.
Edit: Yeah I used map and avinors name but uhh...dont think any harm will come out of it >_>
Was that directed at me?Originally Posted by Raineer

The fact the WHM wanted to take it over letting a BLM lot speaks volumes of lootwhoredness. The LS loot distro is fine...it was the WHM that was the problem imo.
Yeah, that system is kinda silly. >.> WHM get's no use out of it pretty much... ever. And liek above, the fact the WHM actually wanted it screams lootwhore.
But to each his own, grats.
Tyche, the whm specifically said in one of his posts on our forums that if it was going to create a huge problem, he would pass the earring. It didn't create a huge problem for us! We solved it, why cant you guys accept what happened to US, what WE decided, what effected US! When you guys get into this situation then you can moan and bitch about it, until then, dont tell us how to do things.
The WHM is one of the nicest guys I know in the shell. It was basically the only thing he wanted (that he didn't already have) so he took it. He still shows up and lends it out to people when we're doing stuff and that's that. I would seriously rather him have it than (conceivably) another BLM who just joined the shell. That is, if we had no other BLMs with any points.Originally Posted by Tyche
I know it seems silly but there's no way to guarantee (with a job priority system) that 'the best job for the item' doesn't get away with putting in very little work for a good item. Plus, all these items are 'rare' and can be traded >_>
I didnt say your LS was a problem...point systems are fine, i said your WHM was a lootwhore, whether it caused problems or not. If your so naive to believe it didnt piss any BLMs off, your a fool.
Damn nice system..Originally Posted by vodo
See if you had this system the whm would have used his points on gil or items aloong time ago instead of letting his points collect dust just because "Theirs nothing for whm to lot on in sea"
But hey, Raineer is right after all Their ls, they killed AV etc.
But the talking shit part, 1: where not talking shit where trying to understand how the hell a whm could get the earring(we asked and got an answer), 2: Even if we where talking shit we could seeing it's not their forum and well 95% of the forum talks shit, so if you don't like it don't post..
Yeah, seriously, that is some lootwhore WHM. No offense, but I think its fair to call it on that one.
I'm amazed at how people on totally different servers feel the need to stick their noses into SeaShell's business. Mind your own goddamn LS business, howabout that?
Congrats, Map, and your LS, on those drops.
You're all gay for using the wall though.![]()
You realize your posting this on an LS's forums from probably a different server (assuming your not on bahamut).Originally Posted by Stilgar
