Go check a globe. Look at it from above. Align the center of NA where the FFXI old world "appears" on that map (IE, the Prime Meridian running horizonal). Notice where China and India and Japan fall--right where the new world "appears" on that map.

lol, oh yeah, and there is also the fact that it doesn't call it "Vana'diel" in Japanese.
EDIT:
I don't have a globe and I'm bad at that kind of mapping, so I can't really say otherwise on what you are saying. But its impossible for Aht Urgan to be closer to Quon that Mindartia, it just isn't that way.Go check a globe. Look at it from above. The bullet on the area you inverted says "Arrapago Reef," BTW.
...So no.
This theory sucks. They said they were going to make a whole new map for expension. Plus, this doesn't look like Tu'lia or Elshimo at all.
Flipping it upside down is retarded. We have a compass in game, it points to north. Why would it get flipped upside down that wouldn't make sense.
There is just TOO many reasons for it to be otherwise. I see it no different than taking Japan, copy it, and flip one copy and calling it Vana'diel.
Size.
Name. (Biggest reason, I don't think we all live in a giant reef)
Islands.
Direction.
How else do you describe a continent?
The Northern most point in the USA is some place in alaska, the southern most point is a spot in Hawaii, the western most point is some place in alaska, and the eastern most point is in... Alaska. Since one of the islands in alaska is atually in the other hempisphere... So far east to us is kinda both ways. The RL 'Far East' isn't exactly east if you live in say Australia.
The upside down thing doesnt work, looks completely wrong, and the compass stuff, well duh. But one thing i really like about the map of Vanadiel as it is now, is climates... You have icy uleregrand range and all in the far north. Forests, vegetation in the center... and the further south you go... the hotter it gets? Elshimo and Kuzotz are very southern on our map, below the equator. Yet there is no ice down there... Further expansions/updates could possibly be south even.
As for the reigion in that image, i do like that it is connected to a larger landmass. I was kinda hoping the new region map we would get that is seperate had something like, the ToA expansion areas on the LEFT of the new region, and blank/burryness the rest. So further expansions/updates could go even more eastward. Either way, i like where its going so far.
For those not familiar with Arrapago Reef http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/ahturh ... apago.html
Let's end all the stupid speculation (Vana'diel upside down? LOL). SE has already said that the new continent will be on a seperate region map, and cited reasons related to conquest display why they decided to do so.
The Japanese down the side of that image says that this is a continent to the east of Mindartia, as we've known it would be for some time now. The orange tags show Arrapago, Western Aht Urghan Region, Harpoon (sp?) something or other, and the Mamool Ja area.
New Expansion Storyline:
OMG the world is flipped upside down lol, you need to find Cerberus and use his three heads to open the gates of Hell and bring the bottom of the world back to the top again. Good Luck Guyz.![]()
Anyone catch this?

Sounds like none of us won't be able to play it until the 20th (0:00 JST) I assume.Service is scheduled to begin worldwide on April 20, 2006. Until then, the new features will be inaccessible even if both installation and contents registration are complete.
Good, time to read the forums and stuff so we can understand and digest all the new info that will be released on the 18th.... and amble time to play Tetris DSOriginally Posted by Remus

Or Metroid Prime Hunters. :D
Read the JP site. I bet it says the same thing, only that service will start on the 18th for them.
lllllaaaaaaaaaawllllll
JP onry again, 2 days in advance.
Exactly what I was thinking. There is no such thing as "JP people". There is only one being called "JP". SE and every 'JP' HNM LS are only a fragments of that "JP".
I spoke with salesman in GameStop today, street date is 19th, but won't be in stores till 20th... meh
I spoke with the guy in my local GameStop, and he told me it'd be released 18th and in store to pick up the 19th.Originally Posted by Hirronimus
