Noct/Seer/Kampf (edit: shade) sets were added (weeks if i remember right) before CoP realeased. With no Proms to get us ready for, dont need to put them out for crafters ahead of time. My guess anyway.

Not true at all. Thats only true when they have to update the servers as well.

They have to have some sort of client update, be it today or the 18th, or else all of the ToAU armors and jobs will crash your game if they load near you =P.

FFXI does things differently.

They're even doing a maintenance today which we don't need to log out for.

The patch for CoP was a standard patch that updated everything immediately; all the new items were accessible in the client files, even before the expansion was released.

The patch they're doing today is a different sort; they've done these type before, where a bunch of files are downloaded packed, and aren't actually unpacked until the "real" patch date. We previously haven't been able to dig out any info from them easily, since they aren't unpacked to the standard .dat files. It might be possible to get into them early, although I'm not counting on it. It would be nice to get a head start on updating all the items for the new jobs, tho...
