I agree completely with Faranim.

Square-Enix learned from their mistakes with CoP (their first expansion to release semi-simultaneously in more than one market). This is the way that it should be done so that everyone has a chance to get their expansion and get it registered and updated before the content itself is released. Then release the content in a system-wide update so that everyone gets in at the same time.

All of this JP bias paranoia (at least regarding this instance ... I won't go in to GM bias, etc.) is just dumb. If they wanted to, they could just release it in Japan 3 days earlier than they do in the US like they did with CoP.

But they're not, they're releasing it the same time everywhere. and now they say the ToUA content will become active on the 19th (PDT):

* "Treasures of Aht Urhgan" content will be active simultaneously in all regions from April 19, 2006 (PDT).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the CD/DVD won't include .DAT files like new armor, quests and titles... I'm pretty sure those will come via version update...

So what do you think will be stoed on the disc then? a 100,000 page essay on the creation of the universe?

April 19th PDT = April 20th JST (at least in terms of the hours that they will probably be doing the patch) ... they just screwed up in their original news item.

Yep, I remember when CoP hit, JP and EU were in the new zones for 4-5 days before any NA could get the package.

However, the new quests like gobbiebag #5 were available to anyone.

Cue massive demand for gobbiebag items when only the JP (the EUs just got the game and thus were in gustaberg) could farm them...moblinthreads went for 100k each for a few days........
