Ulli isn't like Zippy at all. You kite Zippy? Ulli spams AoE? I'm not going to play the fun card because progressing is half the run. Doing Ix's are not fun when you get nothing on your 4th try. I enjoy a lot of what this game offers(even if the reward blows), with Dynamis(non-CoP) and exp partying probably being the only things that I will just get very bored with. Problem with Sea is, sometimes you just get no progression at all. And you can't even beat the NM line legally(yet).
I think CoP provided a lot of good end-game content. Pop NMs(we got at least 7 of these right?), Limbus, and ENMs changed the end-game up quite a bit. They added a whole lot of NMs, I believe two being good for high levels(that bird in Cape and scorp in Altepa). Like I said before, In the Name of Science is sex for hMP earring(do BST like hMP earring?), gorgets, and obis. Wyrms are debatable, but at least they were added. I think a lot of people wanted RoZ pt 2, which is alright, but I don't think ToUA will give that either. They want casual end-game(which their main competition, WoW, has little off), that is how they are going to sell a lot. I expect more ENMs(maybe with a different name), of course Assault, and maybe only a few HNMs.
Anyway, one more thing to mention, I realize everyone in focused on End-game here, but I think if you want to really enjoy all of FFXI, you can't have the same mentallity as you would in WoW. Not that I want to see "CHECK OUT, NEW HOLIDAY EVENT" threads, I go to FFXIonline.com for that. But, the fact people can't seperate a bad expansion from a bad end-game expansion is just bad. Not that CoP has any right to be the latter.

The only bad thing about the claim and call for help was that it eliminated any possibilities to try to experiment with it still in a low health state for its behavior with the 20 or so people still left behind.
In the end though, at that point, it was clear that AV likely was no going to be beaten anyways, so that really wasnt a huge deal in my mind. I think the bigger issue here to me is simply the amount of immature teenagers running around in the game who get thrills off of ruining things for others. Im guessing several people probably called the GMs, but you can tell when all of the people coming on here gloating about it are from the same linkshell that something is up.
Its unfortunate especially for me since several of the people who have come on here to gloat are people I have helped either with killing stuff in the game, or getting some item, or just given suggestions or helpful hints. I'm sad now that I even helped give pointers when they first got started with Sea pops, if this was the appreciation I was to receive for it.
A.body@Turlos today. Lag went AWOL after he got his. I hope PO doesn't ever get AV to pop wwwwwwwwwwww. Anyway, getting up 5 hours early to camp aspid since 1st window wasn't so bad knowing A.body went to someone who is reasonable. bearded-hume ftwOriginally Posted by Turlos.

End of story.
I see what you mean about progression, and yes progression IS fun, but I still like fun fights.Originally Posted by BRP
As for Zip and Ulli, the main difference is pop condition and 'complex topography'. Zip you straight tank because
A) You cant kite it in the area it pops in
B) You can usually get the people to its area easily
It spams TP because you do straight tank and toss melees at it.
Ulli you usually pop with a group of 6 people which can NOT straight tank it, plus you have nice kiting areas. We have fought it with 12ish people straight tanking and it was the same as zippy...
Ulli you can't straight tank because he SPAMS a hate reset move, so you kite in order to avoid said hate reset move.
You can solo tank it fine with like 4 people... but who the fuck cares its ulli ;\

Sea isnt bad, it could use some tweaks. Torques should drop more than once in 20 kills, and virtues should drop more than once every 30 kills. AV is a major problem, but overall the area of Sea is really nice.
The major problem with the end game is so far there is no progression. No matter how many DL kills, JoL kills, you still have to go back to Sky for haidates and still have to waste 3 hours a day camping the kings. I remember when LSs would wipe to KB, now every stupid group of 12 random monkeys can kill it, but yet it drops a ring that is one of the best items in the game, and yet on my server as I am sure on many other servers Vrtra goes unkilled and sits around doing nothing for months waiting for a maintenance.
You've obviously never pulled Zip. Zip is straight tanked because he runs at flee speed (maybe like +50%?). Therefore no amount of kiting would be effective. Secondly Zip DOES spam TP, again you've probably never pulled him, but when a mob uses a TP move the second you pull him, he has TP Regen, exactly like Fafnir. Thirdly Ulli is straight tanked because he spams a hate reset move like said before. Even if you could manage to keep shadows up most of the time, all it would take is one Heavy Strike to have him running after the mages, and then you're kiting again.Originally Posted by Maxxthepenguin

Using your logic you can't kite Ulli because of the area it pops in as well. I don't know about you, but we drag Zip to the hallway where the detector spawns. Which btw, is also perfectly fine for kiting when you have only rdms and blms.Originally Posted by Maxxthepenguin
Then I guess I just imagined watching a RDM/NIN solo Zip by kiting him, eh?Originally Posted by Lockecole
Kite Ulli too, only because we usually kill with a party or less.
Gravity works wonders. Never soloed it, but trio'd it with WHM,RDM,NIN on the stairs.
I've kited ulli every single time I've fought him. Its not hard at all to avoid heavy strike, I got hit with it once and that was on the pull when I kited as NIN. I've kited as BLM as well. Just keep circling the teleporter and there is no way he should get near you.Originally Posted by Nerull
Edit: looks like grandparent post is just a mistype maybe you meant to say
"Thirdly Ulli is kited"
or
"Thirdly Ulli is not straight tanked"
Objective of kiting = not getting hit by hate reset move.
fyi: AV popped again tonight, by +1. Little progress has been made.
Well, I'm glad we haven't lost focus....--;
Which server? And are they using the wall?
Yeah! I would like to know! This kind of information couldn't be found on the title!Originally Posted by Vlaid
