no, it was always your TP+3
Fixed. I tested this on bst, charming and leaving mobs, and hitting them with different weapons. Its been decreased if its TP+3 now.Originally Posted by neighbortaru

It's only a subtle change but one we noticed tonight was to do with members zoning. I'm sure you all remember how if someone zoned into your area their HP and MP would drop to zero and then they would shoot up as they came in the zone. Now, as they zone in, the name of the zone they just entered immediatly appears and when they've loaded their correct HP and MP is shown automatically. It's a little hard to describe what I mean but get in a party with someone in, say, Lower Jeuno while you're standing in Port Jeuno and tell them to zone in while you stare at the party list.
So...PUP gets more Mage gear than BLU.Seer's Gear...Errant Gear...
This is getting more and more interesting.
BLU no Ridill, but Joyeuse (COR too). Both COR and BLU have Crimson. BLU have Homan. COR have normal bullets, nothing higher (at least nothing on the AH at this time). They both have SH and some other stuff too...
I don't know what to think tbh. The only one that I would have classified as a melee doesn't get melee gear, the COR's get like no bullets, and BLU "mage" gets the Homan set but not Nashira or Zenith.
So...any ideas on sub jobs for a PUP? I'm stumped.![]()
Wth...I figured it'd be blu I'd have to worry about getting all these mage gears for -_-
Yeah, it is odd they'd give BLU melee gear when they aren't a melee job. I can't imagine, from the description so far, that they'd ever engage. I'd just eat pies, nuke and rest, and sub WHM (with a selection of support/healing blue magic). Sounds like the best way to play BLU.
BLUs who engage will likely just end up giving the mob TP and get yelled at, like RDMs past the dunes. Their damage comes from Blue nukes, not melee. Or, they can fall into a support role.
Some people like to suggest BLU will want TP, but don't realize TP means very little to a BLU.. and means nothing at all to them until 40.
Chain Affinity is a level 40 Job Ability. That means, 1-39 a BLU has no reason to ever wield a sword instead of just resting between spells. And past 40, depending on the cooldown of Chain Affinity, they will only have limited reason to melee on occasion. If the ability timers line up, they could sub SAM, but that's as far toward melee I see any BLU leaning. And that's assuming the TP bonus is more than just a few points of damage, and actually worth sacrificing a WHM sub or resting time to melee for that extra few points of damage.Originally Posted by Patch Notes
Just because they have a lot of melee gear available to them, doesn't mean they have to use it. But I suspect the reason they don't have a lot of mage gear is because mage stats don't affect them, other than MP, hMP, and refresh, which should be their main goals. Unless their Blue Magic is affected by other stats in some way (STR, DEX, VIT, etc.), a BLU could probably gear up however they want and still effectively perform their duties. But some MP and refresh gear would definitely be a bonus.
Just keep in mind, they have no abilities or traits to boost their melee damage without subs, and their melee will be subpar. I'm guessing it will be something like inviting a BST to be a melee DD. They might not be horrible at it, since a melee BST is not too bad sometimes despite better options. But at least in their case, if they were to use their main form of damage (pets), they don't have to rest. A BLU won't be able to melee and nuke for long before they have to rest, killing their TP.
No. More than likely, Physical Blue Mage abilities will require TP to use, as demonstrated in the Besieged video where the Blue Mage uses 1000 Needles. Furthermore, there's a reason that Equipped Blue Magic abilities modify the Stat bonuses of your Character. Blue Magic Spells/Physical abilities probably have modifiers, just like most of the spells/weapon skills in this game.Originally Posted by Khamsin

Yeah, BLU is going to be a FRONTLINE mage.
Way over half of the BLU moves are PHYSICAL damage and their damage / accuracy / crit rate is affected by TP. If you're sitting on your ass with a dark staff 99% of the time you'll probably do ass damage.
I can see blu eating meat and sporting attacking gear. They may be spells but the physical ones are most likely based on attack and STR etc etc.
BLU and COR got access to alot of the same melee gear that RDM gets (practically all of it actually)Originally Posted by Not Kuno
SE kinda saved it by not giving BLU Ridill or Joy, you simply can't give such high skill and gear and access to great weapons... RDM is only balanced because we're 26 points under A+ and get Joy

Below level 40, when they get the Job Ability "Chain Affinity", TP has no meaning for a BLU. And past 40, it will only mean something every however many minutes "Chain Affinity" takes to be ready again.Originally Posted by The Official Patch Notes
EDIT: As far as physical blue magic requiring TP, you also missed the Fan Festival demonstration, where the BLU was chainnuking both physical and magical blue magic.
