what melee did you guys find to be most effective? we only had a thief there really for melee dmg (making darkness with a war) and the 2 war's tanking. about 5-6 blm's stun rotation and that shit still went off. either our blms stunned too early/late or it still went off for some reason. :/

If you call a single RDM the entire LS, but yah theres a legit way through the door. Its not too hard.. Think about how Square does these types of events .

Yesterday I was running around exploring and I came accross a "???" I clicked it and got a key item called a Cast Metal Plate. This opens the doors. The ??? will spawn RANDOMLY within the area. As far as I know it can spawn anywhere however I may be wrong. I've had access sence yesterday.. Cerberus used Gates of Hades at 20% and pritty much whiped the LS fighting it today, it seems he goes into rage mode.. I guess you would need a RDM/DRK chainspell stun it at 20% Hope I helped sorry if its already been said

just tried it for fun after another LS wiped at 17%..
we started with 12 and got it to 15% within 1hr. we had BLM only pretty much and blm.. RNG came and made it faster and we got flailed by accident (yes he has flail)

anyway gonna try tomorrow with a real setup

i sneak attacked it throughout the fight plus weapon skilled on it from behind, and we did have mages nuking/stunning from behind it and it didn't flail. i guess we were either lucky or ignorant lol.
although, when our rdm pulled hate from behind he got hit with some type of tail attack that did a significant amount of damage through stoneskin and shadows. maybe that's what you guys are referring to, otherwise we didn't experience the conventional flail similar to fafhogg and wyrms-

Have most LSs been kiting or straight tanking him? We settled in pretty quickly into a straight tanking setup, basically Faf/Jorm/Tiamat style with tanks on the feet (this is just out of habit though, it doesn't actually matter I think). When we first engaged at the start of the day we got our first 2 gravs resisted so we just skipped right past the kiting and immediately straight tanked.

straight tank with 2 NIN works fine or 2 tank in general.
he is quite easy if u can dmg him fast and not let gate of hades own u

Just FYI, one person casted dia through the wall just for kicks to see if it actually worked. Then we all ran back around through main gate. Before you talk shit, learn the facts. Before you talk about whats legit and whats not, stop pos and flee hacking.

When we did it, we got to it legitly. hafta go through a couple doors that require 4 ppl. I dont know a whole lot, i just followed. Whoever was leading was looking at ffxiatlas for directions. If you can keep stun in check, its a really really easy fight. We didnt have a single death til our stuns got parad and GoH got through at about 10%.

Ok, we tried this yesterday and things went awry when Gate of Hades started being spammed. I'm just going to share some of what we did. Any suggestions would be helpful

We went with the straight tank method. Since people are largely relying on melee damage, kiting it doesn't seem like a great idea (unless you have a boatload of RNGs).

We also just stunned in a rotation 'whenever we could'. Is it worth setting up a solid rotation where we stun specific attacks (basically GoH)? Is GoH stunnable by watching the chat logs? Or are people just getting lucky when they stunned it a few times?

Mostly the fight isn't that tough it seems until the HP-based rage (which seems to be at about 20%). So any suggestions for that last part? Thanks.

we didnt start getting spammed with gates of hades until about 15% or less. i think the best way to deal with it is have 2 RDM/DRK's rotate stuns on gates of hades only, thats all they do. we tried a make shift BLM stun order, but all the BLMs would stun out of order and shit, not to mention they couldnt MB when we SC'd cause they were all waiting to stun. so im pretty sure the only way to go is 2 RDM/DRK on stun duty @20%.

kiting isnt really an option...gravity resisted bigtime and he outruns my PLD in crimson cuisses.

We got it down to around 15% and it began to use Gates of Hades, the first one hurt but we were recovering fine, then about 1 min later it used another...we were recovering, as we found out its range is not that big (moved him to one of the corners away from mages and spam cures/erase), then we saw a third, we managed and kept trying to damage him, then a fourth one, then a fifth, by then our ally was almost all dead, by the time the sixth hit our fighting ally was dead and it did a seventh one that took out others, and we were left on the ground wondering how the fuck he gets that many off . Awesome fight, pretty sure we will give him another shot soon, though we may have to find out first hand his repop timers if KtD beats us to him for their revenge.

Oh as far as getting to him, is fucking annoying, but we had a someone that had made it to him somehow with other ls mates the previous night and he had logged there so he opened the door for us, though we should note I had him on scan when we first zoned in, and since you first zone in below him, we had one of our Plds flash him through the wall, after I had locked on him to have people target him as well(just sucked to have to have run so much after zoning in though).

Edit: our blms would stun GoH and he seemed to just do it again shortly after bring stunned, I only mentioned the ones that got through, it almost seemed like Bahamut and his Gigaflare (stun it and he would keep trying till he gets it off) which sucked but oh wellz, we learned from it, lol.

We had a stun rotation for Gates of Hades and I think only one or two got through. It's got a decently long enough cast time that if you are paying attention it can dealt with.

Maybe they're just hiding it from us, or they got it made and didn't put the items on AH
