I hate those fleas.

I swear I remember reading a post on this topic yesterday, but I can't seem to find it again.
If you're up for VT flan soloing, bring alot of your +enfeebling gear. If you have a halvung gate pass, there's an area just past the trolls if you keep going right, instead of left. There's like 6-7 flans with 5mins repop, and there's a zone to halvung really close in a tunnel nearby. I used that tunnel to solo, and if there was anything bad happening, well, a few steps away and Im safe.

Flans have almost no magic defence bonus, and they seem to have no HP either. Aspirable (not so great), and 5mins repop. You should be able to get nice exp off them. If not, just grab a bard friend to come and duo, still nice exp.

and DD swing on fleas for big chains the fleas got like no hp at all and seem to summon fast
This was originally done in sky by holding 2 Detectors with sleep and just chaining the groundskeepers that got summoned. This was the original version of the "limitless chain" since at the time, no other area had enough mobs or fast enough repops to accomplish the same thing.

I don't think that would work with the Marids, since you can't just sleep them and slaughter flies.

I know semi close to the Al Zhabi there are about 5-6 Marid spawns (and the occasional Grand Marid). I assume a lv70 party could get great exp off these if they exp'ed ala bomb queen style (beat the shit out of the marid, keep change target highlighted, kill the chigoe as soon as it spawns, repeat). me and an exp party 2nd day of expansion killed a few, apparently the chigoes don't interrupt chain, and they gave 30-40 exp to a 75 party to boot.

We tried to EXP in Caedarva Mire, in the western half of the first map. F-9 is a huge area full of Treants, with a few Saplings and Imps. The Treants were not melee-friendly, but it might be a viable place to manaburn since the Trees were mostly IT.

WS and nukes have always given me exp for the chigoes. Crit hit makes them fall to the ground, you can get drops but apparently no exp. They were giving us 16-30 exp from Marids in my party, BLM BRD WHM NIN NIN, easy chain 5s off the Marids themselves.

Borrowing this post so I don't have to dig too far to find it later

    Camps in Mamook
Where we ended up going last night given the swarm of people infesting the Puks/Mamools camp in Bhaflau Thickets. On 1st map, go to ( J-12 ), and you'll zone in to the 3rd map (refer to Mamook map on FFXI Atlas). Here on the 3rd map, the following places are great camps:
    • Circle around the two tunnels in ( J-9 ) chaining VT & low IT Mamool Jas.[/*:m:59b68]
    • Circle around the big room in ( I-8 ) killing Mamools, Wyverns, Puks, and crabs.[/*:m:59b68]
    • Didn't go this far in, but I'm sure you can circle around and kill stuff around the big room in ( G-8 ) too.[/*:m:59b68]

    Camps in Caedarva Mire
    • Moving back & forth between ( J-7 ) and ( J-8 ). Mobs are Imps and flies. Having a stunner for AoE Silence move & Cursed Sphere helps a lot. I.e. DRK is actually desirable here.[/*:m:59b68]
    • Ride to the Dvucca Isle staging point, go outside the gate, and you'll reach an area with VT Gutrubs and Lamias. This camp is annoying because of the mobs, but not congested compared to the others, and attainable exp rate is still 10k+/hr.[/*:m:59b68]

Regarding this last camp, noteworthy stuff is Lamias almost always have Ice Spikes up, as well as the mage Gutrubs. Gutrubs have a lot of HP, but take higher damage than normal from both spells and melee attacks (Rampage in the range of 1,500 - 2,500 damage).

If parties can stay far apart enough from each other, I think it's safe to say that for all merit camp areas outside Staging points, three parties max. could exp. there comfortably.

one thing i noticed about ToaU mobs, if mobs spawn other creatures and they dont continue the xp chain (like if a marid pops chigoe, or a skele pops a DC pet), the exp chain continues reguardless. Was very nice especially with the dragon skeletons, that could have potentially ruined big chains, but it was all good

DC mobs have never intentionally broken the chain. They just don't reset the chain timer. I used to get this a lot while soloing the 49-52 hippos in Riverne; I would kill EM->DC->EM and still get the chain on the second EM.

I've seen other people make attempts asking for updated exp locations and information only to get referred back to this old thread.
Since people keep referring to this thread as the place to go for exp locations i will add to it. I hope more people will use this thread and make it more useful.

    Mamool Staging area:
This camp can hold upwards of 5 good parties. I was there last night with 5 parties and still managed to get 12.5k/hr (not including ring). Not the best exp rate but acceptable given the number of exp pts.

The main camp south of the wyverns can hold 2-3 parties, obviously 1-2 pts would be ideal. Being the only party in the southern camp my party easily managed chain 336 before i got nuked by a BLU.

Even with 2 parties in the area my party still managed chain 300.
You just have to be careful about 3 sources of chain breakers:
    1) Puller getting knockback into wyverns
    2) Infiltrator THF mobs have high evasion if your DD eat atk food. They have to be gravitied and depending on situation nuked by a tier -3.
    3) Blu mage casts radiant breath.

In the northern camp also adjacent to the mamool staging area, can hold 2 parties. The mobs here are higher level. Most of the beastmen mobs here give 214-244 exp / kill on chain 5+

There are again 2 sources of chain breakers here:
    Infiltrator THF mobs and Lurkers.
The lurkers have high evasion though i am not sure what job type they are and are almost always the highest lvl mob in the entire area.

    Conclusion:
2 PTs can infinite chain here easily without ever bumping into each other.
2 good pts and 2 crappy ones can also co-exist here happily... provided someone fights the wyverns.

Please share other experiences in other camps !!

The Lurkers are the THFs actually, the Infiltrators are melee-NINs. They don't cast much, compared to the mage-NINs who try to cast a lot, but are pushovers.

The eastern camp in the southern portion is probably my favorite, since you get a nice mix of Mamools and Puks and you don't have to move at all. The northern camp is probably the highest xp, but theres more shifting and more chances for chain-breaking, since once you start pulling the mamools outside the tunnel area, you'll usually have to get the Lurker. The southern-most camp is ok, but theres a lot of Puks in the way of the Mamools, so your chains get diluted with too many of them.

I think that Infiltrators might be both, I could just have been on drugs (long merit sessions can do that), but I'm pretty sure I've seen some of them cast Ninjutsu before.
