Blue Mage: Best thread ever

Could it be related to the whole "BLU being created to defeat the chimeras"? It would probably only go for khimairas since they're the originals, though. Plus, it would be redundant to add it also to Lamiae/Merrows/puks/mandies/hydras/etc. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it has multiple traits.

The Monster Correlation is kicking in most likely. As stated on the VZX/Studio Globi sites, the multiplier for damage is raised 0.25 when you have a mob weak to the spell. This is interesting if so. It would mean Khimaira is also a Plantoid Type Mob as well as Arcana. I wouldn't be so surprised if I'm right, chimera are gene spliced organisms-- I could see SE giving that mob an intimidation/weakness to mobs of many types.

My advice to you would be to use your AF hat next time you go out there, to confirm the Monster Correlation effects going off. That or have a BST try and get hate from the tank, see if he gets intimidated due to Plantoid Killer, haha.

(P.S. Cannonball is a Vermin Spell; Vermin > Plantoid)

Actually, if you can get a tank noshing on Ginger Cookies, that'll do the trick. IIRC, the Mission Khimaira intimidates pretty strangely, too. If they're the same type of mob, getting one scared of you would logically transfer to the other.

We just finished the ToAU 22 fight, and our MNK/NIN (out of a party of MNK, WHM, RDM, and BLM) was intimidating it off and on. It was so odd that I asked him what he was doing and he had no idea...no food or gear that would cause it.

Hmm, definately more leaning towards this being the reason for the higher damage now with all these weird intimidations. Im still stumped on the gear thing though. Since Minnes made such a difference, should I be using phalanx rings instead of str, and shadow mask(which id have to get -.-) instead of voyager sallet? Its borderline impossible to decide ;/

The work in progress continues. /whm NQ staff, no weather/day bonus/ugg pendant. Ive also been using AF body instead of errant to ward off any resists, since im still just gauging potential. Setting the bar at 1000 for weather/full damage gear.

well one thing is for certain on our last khim i had the rdm/drk use arcana circle in the tank party and no one intimidated it. I had asked our pld to try his tatami shield for shits and giggles from a koeing shield and it started to intimidate it ;x.

You sure he wasn't using Red curry? It has demon killer and Khimaira sure looks like a demon to me. If there's any BLUs with Devil Slayer you could try that and see if you get and intimidations if you pull hate.

Mission khimaira would occassionally become worn out, during that ~30-60 seconds period, anything will occassionally intimidate it.

Maybe it's related to the whole open/closed wing animations in the .dats? Seems similar to wamouracampa/colibri/flan "mode" changes. Well, maybe not wamouracampa since they do it when they're not claimed, too. (Is it timed?)

Remember CoP? Khimaira 13 basically uses an anima on itself to be intimidated constantly for 30ish seconds while you beat on it.

She says that when casting an ice spell. It's not related to Khimaira 13's intimidation phase.

Shantotto has a line for each element she casts, as well as several lines dedicated to bitching at you for not healing her.

Either she doesn't say anything special to make it breathe ragged or it's just one of her incantations in general that will do it.
