    Re: Blue Mage: Job Findings

just a quick question. as an elvaan female feet options are pretty asstastic. my 2 tiers of rse give mp but one subtracts str. so im wondering if it would be ok to melee in rudder saubutons? i'm thinking strictly of exp party situations. and you can keep refeuling up so maybe it would be ok,and i already have the air tank for it. also a second question:how long should i use my rse boots? at 50 i can use crow gaiters theres also the af boots at 52 , but if we are talking about exp parties my rse boots are probally superior to af boots plus af boots are kinda ugly imo >_>.

AF boots are superior to both of your RSE boots because it gives you stats that are directly relevant to anything you'd be doing. If you want to use rutters, go for it.

    AF..... boots?

They're worthless, and no BLU worth their salt should ever melee in them, much less cast spells.

Honestly. Just wear Leaping boots, at least a few spells have secondary DEX modifiers.

    Mountain gaiters give STR+1.

Relevant stats as in... evasion skill? lol

AF boots not bad for solo until you can wear homam I guess, but no reason to melee in them really. Tabin boots +1 (level 59, acc+3, eva+3) a decent option untill 72+ for elvaan.

    Re: Blue Mage: Job Findings

Enmity down, HP/MP, and some evasion skill are more relevant than some petty stats that may not even apply to any of the spells you have set. There are no decent STR boots besides rutters for elvaan and +3 DEX isn't enoguh to outweigh a decent MP boost and the added def. When the two most used physical spells are under 16MP, yea, 13 is at least decent. Who would buy an HQ piece of equipment for +3 acc when you're probably eating sushi and have lifebelt/chivchain/dual snipers? There's just not a lot that's really SO much better. If she were a hume female, I'd suggest Marine F Boots, because those are cheap anywhere. ¬¬

None of those stats matter didly squat in an XP party. The two pieces I listed will at least help crit % or damage slightly even if you don't have any AGI or DEX spells set.

Possibly, but not to the extent that AF is so inferior.
And yea, Homam is what people should aim for.

which is more influential for cannonball between the situations

    defense or str?
VIT or defense? (Ignoring the defense bonus from vit for testing purposes)

STR > VIT > DEF in that order without sacrificing huge amounts of DEF.

ie. Dusk Mask > Voyager Sallet

but mainly Flame Ring > Phalnax Ring (sp?)

    Re: Blue Mage: Job Findings

    I'd probably say 3 STR > 2 VIT > 15 DEF as a rule of thumb

If you have a major deficit in STR or DEF then value that stat higher.

    Re: Blue Mage: Job Findings

ok this is a newbie question, forgive me. i read and read but still it seems i'm not getting it :

what's better for BLU (taru) : Peacock or Chivalrous?
from 55+ suggest food would be sushi, so is there a reason for +10 acc instead of some more STR?
is Chivalrous, maybe, a macro piece over PCC as some of you suggested?
or is PCC a macro piece for, say, any multihit spell?

    Re: Blue Mage: Job Findings

Personally I use Chiv for Spells, PCC for Melee if I really need to but I get tired of swapping 90% of my gear every 20s. I usually just spam spells so Chiv stays on most of the time. With sushi I really have no problems hitting.

    Not really.

Blu "ranged" spells, like Pinecomb Bomb, use ranged acc though, so p charm would be better for that.

And this may be placebo effect, but when I got fortitude torque I noticed Pinecomb Bomb work better, so sword skill = racc for blu racc spells?

Yeah, I need to get me some Denali.

I'll still use Homam for TP/DoT and Utsu recast.

I know ranged spell damage is calculated like ranged damage, but is this true of ranged accuracy? BLU doesn't have natural archery/marksmanship/throwing skill, unless you're suggesting that the base accuracy is based off mainhand weapon same as the other physical spells except further modified by "Ranged Accuracy+" gear rather than "Accuracy+" gear but I've never read of this previously.

I don't remember where but somewhere it's said the ranged spells have a sweet spot at a very close range like throwing is suppose to have.
