    we don't need auto refresh 3 or a solid aspir because were just fine being lowest dd in a party?

    hell screw every spell but head butt and I'll go /thf on colis just to be more mp efficient and for those omg 1337 SACA head butts!

    yeah thats the trick cast 3-4 head butts a fight and melee who cares if that puts us in 5th place on parse right under the rdm who decided to cap their sword skill during a few fights!

    oh and for gods sake don't spout off some nonsense BS about how u can easy cast 6 head butts a fight.

    1) lets say your super pimped awesome and actually manage to get 50% haste... yeah ok but w/e

    thats 5 sec recast and .5 second cast for each head butt

    5.5 11 16.5 22 27.5 so thats 5 head butts per fight. which is 60mp

    lets be ultra nice and say each and every one of those hits for 130 thats 650.

    so 650 damage for 60mp, and that with you know 100% acc in there and totally unresisted damage.

    2) lets say I'm having a horrible day and my diss are only hitting for 500. QQ

    thats 500 damage for 74mp

    oh but wait what about that 18hp/tick affect lets say instead of 10 ticks it only gets in 8 thats 144 damage

    so now magically we are at 644 damage for 74mp

    3) oh noes you win... i must go /wrist now the world is coming to an end.

    or
    in reality head butt damage ranges from 30-130 and has some weird numbers with the same exact equips on.
    then there is diss where I rarely see less then 550 especially on birds (go go piercing) and sometimes see 900 with a pretty nice average around 600-700.

    and thats not counting the posion, which if u let diss rip right at start of fight is 9 ticks of 18hp/tick or 162hp.

    so lets compare your fake imaginary headbutt totals with some realistic diss totals.

    650 damage for 60mp
    or

    762 damage for 74mp.

    oh yeah and prey that you don't miss one of those head butts or that the fight doesn't end in 25 seconds instead of 30.

    but u and ur 441 chain self never has to worry about a 25 second fight right? all your fights last the full 30 secons u do the magic timing to make sure every kill is perfect to keep chain.

    I'll give you a cookie tomorrow if you go and slit your wrist today.

    You realize, BLU are not top DD, right? If we could out DD a MNK, while self curing, and stunning every few seconds, and hasting ourselves, and sleeping mobs, there would be no point to leveling any other job, ya? As long as you have decent MP flow going, it's not nearly as bad as you are making it out to be. I don't find it particularly difficult to parse 25%~ or so in a PT, and at the same time lock down mobs so there is less MP spent curing the heavier DDs. Seeing 0-1 TP moves per mob is very nice. You don't need to be the #1 DD in an XP PT to be worth an XP slot.

    Not every PT can be 3x E.Body x3 BRD BRD RDM, you LFG sometimes, sometimes an LS mate or friend wants to XP their BLU. We can do 25% which is a decent amount of damage, help the healer save MP with Head Butt (or occasional back up cure), and Flash to help people with Utsusemi timers. I could see a case being made for Auto-Refresh 2, at the cost of a decent # of set points, because I don't think it'd break the game, but it'd have to balance out well.

    We won't get, nor do we need, Auto-Refresh 2, or lol3 for that matter. Magic Hammer being like Spirit Taker makes sense, and I'd love seeing that happen, but I don't think it will. Battery Charge would be nice, but is also very unlikely. BLU is very much a jack-of-all-trades job, in being able to set different spells dependent on the situation. If we were a top tier DD, we would be flat out overpowered, end of story. QQ moar, this stuff isn't going to happen, and if in the impossibly unlikely event that it does, shame on SE for "fixing" a job that didn't need fixing, rather than those that do.

    Blu is a mid-tier DD, going down the route of being versitile at the expense of being a top tier DD that needs support to survive. So long as a blu is getting refresh the job can do what a top tier DD could do without as much support.

    Its imo one of the best crafted expansion jobs (between WoTG anf ToAU), it isnt broken and it can do a hell of a lot. You can heal, offtank, damage and crowd control and is the only true melee damage mage. (what some rdms wish rdm was.)

    Fix the magical spells MP cost and recast and BLU is as good as it'll get.

    Nazrious really needs to chill out and take a look at his own play style before attacking others. It isnt anywhere near hard to reach chain 100+ on 1mp pool and still competeing for "decent" damage. I've personally parsed(according to the person running it) 2nd and 3rd DD in mire and at mamool ja SP with a 3-4 DD pt usually with either a well geared thf, mnk, war in first. But i've also come happily in last DD slot dealing excellent comparable damage to well geared wars. BLU isnt about OMGWTFPWNZORLEET damage in merits its about using your MP wisely while still outputing comparable damage.

    hmm every blu does play differently. one thing I have to add I usually get asked to come blu when asked to merit by my brd freind if we are going to colibri camp, mind you I have sam and mnk leveled and pimped. I just need 3 spells disservement frenetic and mp drainkiss to keep up dmg/mp

    disservent 700+ on the LOW end 1K+ with CA, frenetic 500-800 normal mp drainkiss 100+ mp back np.

    I dont undertand the arguement. Blu Is a top DD when played right with the right setup. There is one thing alot of blus fail the see the worth of is setting and equipping conserve mp. it does alot for blus in xp situations. alot.

    For example I met this blu the other day wanted to duo imps. his technique was spam spells then rest. while i usually can kill like 3 imps before resting, solo.

    I have made 100+ chains on blu many times, in merit pts. I have gone to blu burn pts also with 4 blus brd rdm. at bird camp. and ran out of colibri.

    For those who are curious about the damage output of a nearly full merited blu/nin VS. half merited BB mnk at bird camp.
    We had 1 rdm that sometimes give me refresh and haste the dds, and a brd that do 2x attack songs.

    ==== Setup ====
    The mnk had some h2h merit and use Pahluwan Khazagand, sniper+1, pcc, bb belt, and destroyer etc.
    The blu had homam body, and other decent acc gears.
    The nin had full haste gears, pcc, etc and didn't know if he had full merit.
    The war was nq and afk for a few fights.

    The blu gear-swapped a lot for healing breeze (250-ish curaga) with 110mnd, and spammed magic drinkkiss. The blu cured 40-50% of total party damage, but its not a lot since mob died so fast for chain#100+.
    For damage, the gear-swap gave 110-ish str, and didn't have problem with MP for casting 1 disseverment and 1 frenetic rip almost every battle. Of course, blu had sanction refresh and conserve MP/refresh job trait.

    Oh, there's no doubt a BLU is a competitive contributor to any merit party ... no way would I say otherwise. It just drives me nuts when retards like this Naz person spam their entire MP pool away thinking it's the only way they're gonna do acceptable damage on a parse. Properly-geared BLU's can put up a lot of sword DoT to compliment their casting and walk away with MP to spare.

    If you want to really see BLU shine in a merit party, get a bunch of them, buffers, and go to town. While BLU can do amazingly respectable damage with swords in a standard merit party, the only reason there is such a balance between sword and spell in these scenarios is because BLU is forced to concentrate on sword as that is where they are recieving buffs.

    3BLU RDM BRD COR, 4BLU RDM BRD, maybe BRD DNC 4BLU, any such combination which focuses buffs on mp recovery and accuracy will shoot BLU through the roof. With only haste spell and 8-10mp a tick along with drainkiss, the amount of damage BLU can output on a consistant basis from spells is just phenomenal. I barely ever see "blu burns" around and I think it's amazing, since there are an absolute shit ton of blus at 75, the parties are great fun, and on the right target (namely: colibri), are probably second in xp speed only to mnk burn with outside healing.

    Of course I am not merit level or any of that, but I have a quesation of the topic of Head Butt usage. Usually I can stop TP moves fairly well, but I am having issues with Colibri moves. Is my timing just bad or does the Head Butt stun not stun their TP moves a lot of the time? I feel like I'm timing it right, but I don't stop as many of the moves as I'd like. Pecking Flurry I seem to have a better time with, though. One of my favorite things about BLU is precisely the ability to stop many TP moves (of course, DRK and BLM can help as well with that.)

    I've noticed in parties at the mid-levels I am extremely competitive with damage, although I imagien this changes once more higher-level gear comes into play. My best spells seem to be Head Butt, Sickle Slash, Mandibular Bite, and Cold Wave (for the 18/tick DoT, just wish I could get it to stick more). Has anyone had success using an Ice Staff for it when they have low TP? (Such as the beginning of the fight). I'm finding I am generally using those opportunities to MB MP Drainkiss with Dark Staff.

    Edit: Many of my parties have lacked a BRD or RDM so on Colibri I seem to do better by focusing on great sword DoT (acc and atk gear) but macroing in some stats to make the spells I cast hit harder or be more effective...but it's mainly a lot of Head Butt, occasional Sickle Slash, and fairly frequent Mandibular Bites. The frequent 100+ MP drainkiss is what's saving me though right now, though. Stick to this strat or should I be using more/less/different spells?

    On Head Butt: with some TP moves, it's just a matter of getting lucky. Some are easier to stun than others. Plus, sometimes, even if your Head Butt lands, the Stun effect won't proc. I don't like it either, but it's the way it is. :-/

    Elemental staves all always give their matching magical spells a M.Acc bonus. I've not explicitly tested this on Cold Wave, but I don't see it being an exception to the rule. One thing to remember though is, Colibri seem resistant to magic to begin with so it might be more difficult to land spells on them regardless.

    On your party techniques: Whatever you do to strike a balance between MP spent and MP recovered is fine. If you have no Refresher, take it easy on the spells. If you do, lay into the mob a little harder. I've found I perform at my best when I keep my MP fairly level, no matter the circumstances.
