Asuran Claws from some minor testing seems to be slashing. Went to Tavnazia and took on some Bugards, Asuran was doing about 1k and Hysteric Barrage was doing about 1k. Then went to Greater Birds, Asuran doing about 700-800, Hysteric Barrage doing about 1-1.1k.
Also Asuran against Lesser Colibri at 29% moon was doing 400-500, at 50% moon against Greater Birds 700-800. different mobs I know but both birds...
So Spiral Spin looks like a replacement to the tried and true mandibular bite?
Asuran is probably mostly there for mob correlation, counter, and tp feeding >_>
It reminds me of Magic Hammer actually... a niche spell that is inferior to its grassroots cousin (Hysteric Barrage) that people will whip out in the Full Moon so they can make sparkly blue spheres on the enemy.Originally Posted by Maxxthepenguin
maybe closer to full moon the more it does?
Selenes Bow, in the palm of your fists?
I suppose we'll know tomorrow evening. At least, according to the tracker, that's when the next Full moon hits.
Quick Cannonball /thf question:
Crimson Mask or NQ Wivre Mask:
34 DEF vs 20 DEF 2STR - +65 STR without wivre mask using taco / fish mithkabob, usually have either double minne or minne x1 and etude x1 for cerb / khim / tiamat, still unmerited STR and only 3 BLU magic merits since I just hit 75 on it about a month ago and it's my first 75 job :\
Im really disappointed with asuran claws, one minute recast, long as fuck to cast, and weak damage. For the amount of TP it gives a mob I expected more :/
48% wax Asuran Claws... Hardly any better than my Vorpal against lesser Colibri
Please let this be a bug
Full/New Moon go~
Ok; Took some time to test the new spells in ballista(lol)
My test subject was a 75 mnk / whm (For Erase)
Base: 392 Attack, 271 Def
Frightful Roar(As a comparison)
243 Def (10% Down)
Seed Spray 239 Dmg
249 Def (9%? Down)
Corrosive Ooze 182 Dmg
372 Attack(5% Down) 257 Def (5% Down)
Testing Spiral Spin:
I casted Spiral Spin, After which my subject(Changed to blu) cast Warm Up, the Acc down effect remained, however when he started with Warm Up, the effect would not stick.(Tested a Couple times just to make sure) Make what you want of this. I'm stumped ; ;
Just for fun; AClaws(No Chain Affinity) did 270ish dmg Waxing Gibbous
I tried Asuran Claws on bunnies outside Sandy and last night at 70% moon, was pretty consistent between 142 and 149 damage. It is now 90% full moon and the first 3 casts were 145, 149, 147. Pretty sure that its not effected by Moon Phase, or if it is, its not remotely significant.
Only did one quick cast, but 95% full moon still in the waxing stage to a Bhuta (Ghost in Behemoth's Dominion) 0 TP chain affinity did 428 damage, pretty similar numbers I did to Gnoles with it shortly after getting the spell. This makes me.
Asuran Claws: Same as the above, 93% Full Moon, vs Lesser Colibiri, aprox 550-590 at best, a few 500ish. Average STR gear, Physical Damage setup.
Regurgitation: Is giving me some really odd #s. +18MAB, M.Atk Bonus from /RDM, 62+60 INT (Melon Pie, INT Spells set), NQ Water Staff: Constant 383 damage. A few times with Burst Affinity was 480-low 500s. BA+Convergeance gave me 559. BA+Convergeance+Memento Mori: 643. This was quick testing on Lesser Colibiri before maint started. Was using Errant Body and not Magus Jubbah. No Blue Magic Skill merits.
The majority of times, the Bind effect lasted until the recast was up, or almost up. Killed 3 birds like this, only 1 or 2 times did I Regurgitation > recast > Regurgitation and got "The Lesser Colibiri's Bind effect effect wears off". So it's hard to tell if my Regurgitation broke the previous one's Bind, or the newer one's Bind just wore off extra fast.
There are plenty of improvements to be made to the gear I was using for the spell, I just grabbed whatever was on hand, but if it can be kept at a steady 400-450 damage, and the Bind effect is potent enough, it would become a pretty useful spell to have equipped in a lot of cases, and maybe even a new soloing method, for weird mobs or NMs, not XP ^^
Has anyone (besides the guy with the brd on the last page) tried stacking a shit-load of attack? Cannonball was only used by wamoura in their defensive stance, and turned out to have a defense mod. Asuran claws is only used in the standing up (pissed off?) stance. Should be easy to see if attack does something, with berserk and some attack food and/or minuet.
First thing I tried when I got the spell was had my BRD friend who was with me single double Minuets, it made no noticeable difference in 3-4 castings, if that helps any.
Even if you assume there's no stat bonus (Base damage = 69 only). Those numbers can only appear when pDIF = 2.0 (very far from cap)Originally Posted by leviathanertai
Here's something I noticed about Asuran Claws, it's just an observation and not a proper test though.
CA'd Asuarn Claws were doing between 450 and 650 on DC smilodons in Jugner_S during 50ish % moon phase and roughly 700 during Full Moon 90%.
Numbers on TW birds were roughly 700ish before full moon and 900+ during it.
Based on this it may be possible that Moon phases act as an "attack" modifier, pretty much like DEF works with Cannonball. This would explain its consistency damage-wise against wild rabbits.
I had no time to do proper tests, I will after maint is over if I get the chance.
