Blue Mage: Best thread ever

Just a thought for anyone that likes to solo on BLU.

Was thinking you could possibly solo Fenrir using Regurgitation, Diss Poison, and Head Butt on BLU/NIN. Would probably need a reasonable amount of meds, but if Regurgitation has a good bind proc rate I think it would make for a pretty cool solo.

The bind is pretty good, and it has a fairly low recast, but at 69 MP you're gonna need a lot of meds to keep your MP up, even with auto refresh and conserve MP (come to think of it, if Fenrir has MP, you should be able to use magic hammer too). Would be fun to try I'm sure, but I personally don't have the money or inventory space to spare, else I might have had a go at it.

Wouldn't Magic Hammer risk breaking the bind though? Pretty sure he'll be in range of hitting you while binded as well

It would, but assuming you used it with Regurgitation recast up, the first part wouldn't be a problem. Magic Hammer should have a range slightly larger than melee range though, like most BLU spells, so the second part shouldn't be a problem (even though you'd be in range for offensive TP moves, but that wouldn't be too much of a problem if you planned around it).

Anyways, I'm curious how well this would work, and though I'm still not up for soloing it, I might give duoing it with a RDM a try and see how well that works out.

Off the wall question, but rather than start a new thread in Newbie, I figured I'd ask here. Why not mainhand Perdu Hanger & offhand Perdu Wand?

Do you get the Accuracy & Attack bonuses for both weapons when you're under 100% TP?

Yes, but if you're subbing NIN and you're taking your melee damage into consideration, (practically any) sword would be superior in the off hand. If you're /NIN on HNM (for some reason) attributes from Ifrits or D- Slayer or something will be more useful than a +5 acc boost from a weapon that has a much lower skill rating, which will disappear if/when you go over 100% TP for CA Cannonball.

Tried breath spells with new gear in dyna-xarc and was getting 1200+ w/ heat breaths, then got bored later on and went with self-destruct, got some nice dmg. Used convergence with BA.

What gear were you using for HB and SD?

Self-Destruct's damage is based on HP, but not 100% HP. Unless they changed something in the damage calculations. I have never had it do damage equal to my HP before.

So unless I'm missing something else, shut the fuck up.
