I know that Skill 300 -> D69. What I'm wondering is (please disregard the AF2 hat stats) since I'm not going to push into the next damage tier is there any point to adding more skill via merits when I'm @ 301 now?

Dusk or Enkidu work fine. Or if you're pressed on cash. Tabin Boots +1 are pretty good since they give +3 Accuracy.

Unlocked Exapiacion the other day but was curious to know of a proper gear setup for it if anyone can help me out on that. Tried my Vorpal Blade setup but doesn't seem to work as well with that type of WS.

Head: Voyager Sallet (waiting for Morr head 35 to drop, Maat's cap and Gnadbhod's helm are better though)

Earrings: Brutal + Suppanomimi(Triumph is probably better than the latter)
Body: Morrigan
Hands: Enkidu's
Rings: Flame x2
Cape: HQ Amemet, there are better options though
Waist: Warwolf
Legs: Mirage (waiting for Morr legs 25 to drop off BC)
Feet: Denali

Expiacion is STR INT mods so this setup loading STR accu (and INT where he can)

I say the gear for Expiacion doens't matter because it's a shitty and almost completely useless WS anyway.

Far from useless.. damage isn't that bad and self-darkness w/ Vcleave is very good.

It just CA Vertical Cleave can produce wide range of number.
Sometimes I can only do 800ish on Aht Urhgan Attercop, sometimes it can spike up to 1200ish.

I prefer Savage Blade + Disseverment because sometimes it's the difference between no DMG and ~700DMG depending on the mob.

The only thing Expiacion > VertCleave offers over savage > disseverment is the ability to MB dark/earth spells. If you have a situation where you need that then more power to you I suppose <_<

Peronally, for ice MB (the only reason i'd ever need darkness SC) I'd rather be using savage > disseverment because there is much less chance of the spell missing and completely wasting your skillchain.

I guess if you really dont want poison on whatever you're fighting you could opt for darkness...but yea, I said it is almost useless because there are very few sitiuations where I would opt to use it.

and the gear you wear for it, honestly, since you are doing it purely for the skillchain purpose, I'd even say just wear full acc gear so you dont miss the damn thing.

I like the new WS and the ability to selfchain Darkness. My usual SBs are the same damage as Expaicain, and same for Disserverment and VC when I use /NIN.

/THF is a different story. If I'm lucky enough to not pull hate after Expiacion, a CASATA VC will make something very dead or me dead.

I usually only use self Darkness for Nyzul, but my static has an Apoc and Bravura, for the bosses or high HP mobs/NMs I just open self darkness or self light for the double light/darkness. Otherwise I usually only self Darkness because I'm bored.

Gear I use for /nin WSs and Spells is:

Weapons: Perdu Hanger/Wing Sword+1
Ammo: Olibanum Sachet
Head: Enkidu's Cap
Neck: Fortitude Torque
Ear: Suppa/Minuet Earring
Body: Magus Jubbah+1
Hands: Enkidu's Mittens
Rings: Rajas/Flame
Back: Cuch. Mantle
Waist: Warwolf
Pants: Enkidu's Subligar
Feet: Denali Gamashes

With that gear my Expiacions are equal or higher then my SBs, but they are far more consistent.
