I didn't get much info off Odin (Was our first run), but it seems that Sword + Shield still triumphs over Staff + Brave Grips.

Q: What does physical potency merits do for blue mage?
A: It is a simple increase in accuracy for physical magic attacks.
LOL @ Wiki then
* Category: Job-specific - Group 1 (Blue Mage)
* Limits: 5 Levels (Merit Point progression: 1>2>3>4>5 = 15 points total)
* Description: Each level of this enhancement provides +2 attack power of physical Blue Magic spells per upgrade, up to a maximum of +10 attack power when merited five times.
* "Potency" in this case means "attack power". Translated from the in game menus of the Japanese version of FFXI.
Isn't the merit called something like blue magic attack in the JP client? I thought elmer or somebody translated it in this thread somewhere.
wiki is wrong a lot since its user-updated/added
someone go add in accuracy too!
Anyone find this funny or sad? I lmao...yet pitty the kid.
(I don't know how to quote it right!)
Q: Is there a type of job you feel Final Fantasy XI still needs?
A: (laughs from the team) In a previous interview, a gentlemen had a request from a young child from the Make A Wish Foundation. The child asked if we could make a Bee Mage.
"Hahahahaha dying children's ideas are SOOOO stupid. *Wineglass* *cigar* *eyes wide shut orgy*"
Good to know it's acc, it makes it pretty nice now.
Still need to do testing on how much acc does it boost. That'll be great to know. My last testing with Delekii on "PP = accuracy?" was bad on the first place. So we couldn't conclude it.
Well, it's not like /check works for spells and the amount is probably too small to really nail down in another fashion. For now, I'm content with taking it at face value (+10 spell acc @ 5/5.)
I'ma go with +10 Spell Acc as well.
So what gear would you need to keep the same # hits to 100tp? Also, any word on where this is? What's the model for it?
And for the ring, I wouldn't completely dismiss it. It's no huge deal either way but if you need to use magic skill merits for other jobs there's a couple combinations where this allows you to just hit a damage tier while putting 1 more merit into enfeebling/elemental/singing etc.
Even if you hit another tier, isn't str+5 still better?
Well on second thought, you'll stay at 18 hits to 100 tp with 5+ store tp (rajas) with the store tp trait equipped, but if you don't, you'll be losing a hit to 100, unless you're wearing some of that cobra gear or something. Not exactly a big deal for blu, just pointing it out since it's really the only drawback to offhanding that sword. Numbers should look like this, assuming you're using suppa:
perdu(225 delay)/236 delay sword(ifrit's blade, beast slayer, etc.)
0-5 store tp = 20 hits to 100
6-11 store tp = 19 hits
12-18 store tp = 18 hits
19-25 store tp = 17 hits
26+ store tp = 16 hits
perdu/kogg (224 delay)
0-2 store tp = 21 hits
3-8 store tp = 20 hits
9-14 store tp = 19 hits
15-20 store tp = 18 hits
21+ store tp = 17 hits
As for the +2 skill ring, even if it let you hit another tier, it should still be worse than a +5 str ring.
Marinara Pizza:
Attack+20%(CAP250@50)
Accuracy+10%
HP+20
^ Winnar?
If you hit a tier with the ring but without the af2 hat and have the 6 str 4 dex hat...
Koggelmander looks awesome but its going to put my Hofud out of a job![]()
That's only possible if you specifically have 4 blue magic merits. If you have any other number, it's not possible to hit another tier with AF body and +2 skill. And even if you do hit that tier, a +5 str ring should be better for everything except spells without a str mod, which as far as stuff worth casting is only hysteric barrage. And even if you have exactly 4 blue magic merits, it's -1 inventory for +1 base damage on hysteric barrage, and only if a +5 str ring wouldn't give you +2 fstr.
