This is how I always saw it in my last ls. Don't ask me to come BLU without proper support or the job won't be able to function to its potential.
My last LS, Virtue, would never... ever give me a bard, and in the odd chance that I snuck my way into the BRD PT... the brd would refuse to minne me. I just gave up and stopped coming BLU to events.
As for BLU at events, I was easily able to keep up with strong black mages at Tiamat.
I guess I had a lucky LS. If we had enough SAMs they would always throw out the "You wanna come BLU?!". Outside of SACA Cannonball whenever it's up, you can throw in just regular Cannonballs. Hell, if you even have your timing down you can also do just SA Cannonballs.
1k+ SACA Cannonball
600~ SA Cannonball
300-450 Cannonball
Nothing to scoff at. Although that is a lot of balls. All with BRD support the majority of the time.
This is how it always is. People don't understand to place certain jobs with the right support in order to reach full potential. When I did Sky and various other HNM events in the past, I had to beg to get a brd and not only that, I had to beg to get Minne'd to which I was ignored 99% of the time. This is similar to putting a COR in a BLM pt on Kirin. I had to ask multiple times to get placed in a BLM pt (To enhance magic attack/acc and to boost Quick Draw on my end), but they would mostly throw me into the melee party because they didn't understand.
You underestimate how lazy Bards are.
Well, HNMs where we use MNKs, Ridill WARs, SAMs, etc are going to be HNMs where heavy DD are just going to do more damage than BLU because of the level correction. HNMs where BLUs shine with SA cannonball are generally SMN shindigs, so it is a matter of dealing with the hate-free damage that SMNs can do every 45 seconds or so, versus the "hey, let's spike flail this" fun of BLUs CASA'ing cannonball which will keep building up hate. Yes yes, "tanks never lose hate", unless an accidental double-attack, wing, and ga spell drop down the total hate even for a few seconds.
So basically, you have to prove that the risk of bringing a BLU is going to be worth the damage that they can do logistically and in terms of efficiency. Yes, I love Atum's BLU, yes I want to use it more, but I'm going to need some more convincing before I bug Sonomaa about changing HNM strats.
My belief is that if the BLU/THF is a decent player, he'll know how to control hate, and at least Cannonball after a mob uses TP -> stand with the tanks after Cannonball for a while.
However, I've caused a few flails (Cerb, Khim) just from doing too much spike damage from 0 to no hate, so I understand where Sept is coming from.
Plague Swipe is Khim's flail move.
Speaking of enmity issues, any conclusive tests on Hydro Shot? That spell has potential on paper but how effective is that?
