Oh no, I'm not necessarily saying I'll be fulltiming it either. Hell, I even try to avoid casting MP Drainkiss because of the casting time.
Do keep in mind though that if you had higher attack, the proportion of damage that comes from swords would be higher.
Hmmm...
Test if Triumphant Roar has any effect on these spells:
Claw Cyclone
Grand Slam
Uppercut
Mandibular Bite
Dimensional Death
Body Slam
Tail Slap
Vertical Cleave
And whether or not Sub-Zero Slam has any damage boost if the enemy is behind you. I can't log on for several hours or I'd do it myself.
I didn't notice any damage boost when casting backwards.
Tried this on colibries. Both looking at it and turned around, spells did 250ish (without any special gear, but always the same). I don't think there's much need to test past that, tbh. If there IS a difference, then it's marginal.
It may still affect paralyze potency, but that does look unlikely to me.
Thought it was worth testing, as Ruszors only use it when you're behind them and its all flail-like.
Concerned if it will be worth using Fast Cast trait in merit bird or to just stick to STR in general. Usually no MP issue in general though.
But yes, T. Roar before Vorpal = win
Edit: Seems these two spells served their own purpose
T. Roat = Cheap STR boost + Attack up without /War's Berserk
S.Z Slam = Cheaper alternative to Paralyze with decent damage for the MP cost and time and create a good job trait (Fast Cast)
I doubt SE is planning to replace the Big 3 or Vertical Cleave/Cannonball anytime soon. Seems to want to find more useful general spells instead of damage ones (and lazy to fix our other costly spells usually magic based ones)
I wouldn't set fast cast for merits. Pretty much it's soloing and tanking only.
When servers are back up, I'll mess around and see if Triumphant Roar has any sort of hidden effect on spell damage.
4x blu + brd + RDM @ imps/flayers in Hediva Isle, is only way to properly meripo on blue (' ')/
Anyone figure what type of damage SZ-Smash is?
Common sense would suggest me blunt but then again we're talking about those who made Foot Kick slashing and Asuran Claws blunt.
Have the enmity values for Triumphant Roar been found yet? Having another decent enmity buffing spell would be a nice boon, me thinks.
If I had to guess, I'd say it was similiar to Warm up. Caused hate, but I didn't notice a spike per se. I'll have to mess around with it in parties more.
Back to the whole Roar being 1/2 a Disseverment thing...
If you're parsing at around 2/3 spell damage (In quick-paced senarios where you can recover MP quickly, this is your best bet), Roar probably isn't worth the casting time and MP cost (though keep in mind 1/3 of that 3 second casting time shouldn't be taken into consideration since 2 Disseverments makes that up anyway). Also, take into consideration that in fast-paced senarios, you'll be dead in the water for those 3 seconds when you're buffing with this to Vorpal Blade. The mob won't last long enough to get caught up with this. But if you're at 1/2 melee damage or better, it's a worthwhile pre-WS buff at the very least.
Either way, it's a great buff for using between fights if the puller doesn't have the mob already at camp waiting for you.
I don't even know why I bother glancing at this anymore. Can we have an advanced Blue Mage thread please? This one doesn't belong here anymore.
I don't disagree that it shouldn't be fulltimed, but let me ask you this:
How often do you seriously have MP issues in a merit party? From personal experience, I can say that I only ever have problems if the RDM is lazy and repeatedly forgets to Refresh me.
I was getting no refresh in a merit party on Monday, using this to buff before almost every weapon skill, and I had no MP problems. I did have to ride MP Drainkiss a little closer, but I never went below 400 MP. I also had an incredibly badass SAM and DRG in the party so the parse was already won anyway.
You're joking right? BLU can always cast more spells and get more damage with more MP. If Frip and Dissev are ever off cooldown and not immediately being cast because of MP issues, you don't have enough MP. Even if you're spamming them as much as you can, Hysteric Barrage can add even more damage if you still somehow have excess MP. BLU is one job that can never have too much MP in merits. I've done Gjallarhorn (2x Ballad)+Refresh parties and I still could run out of MP.
You're a terrible person. Pull your own damn weight.
No MP issues = You're doing it wrong.
