Has anyone tested the hate generation of the 2 new spells? This might be a question more directed towards Kaeko. If Triumphant Roar is at least 320 CE and 320 VE like amplification/blank gaze/dispel, it could be a decent enmity generating tool and reduce chances of hitting hnms for 0. Also, it would be interesting if Sub-zero is like regurgitation and has odd enmity settings.

Fast cast procs if you have it on when you start the spell, what you have on at the end will be what procs on the recast. So you start with all fastcast gear and sometime during the cast you can switch out those slots where greater haste is available. You don't have to give up anything, fast cast in ANY slot is awesome.

While this is true in theory, it's not easy to swap mid-cast on quick-casting spells such as Utsusemi: Ni.
I can't even get Spellcast to do that because my PC sucks and lags like hell, and fails to swap gear mid-cast on said spell and other quick ones (< 3s casting time).

Of course if that's not an issue then FC in every slot when starting to cast in indeed awesome, which is why I've been considering that.

I have no problem swapping Warlock's Chapeau and Duelist's Tabard in and out during Utsusemi: Ni using good old fashioned FFXI macros, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to swap 1 piece as Blue Mage.

You mean start casting in AF1 hat+AF2 body and swap to whatever gear you use after Utsu: Ni has been cast? There's no reason to do differently since they're the best FC and recast pieces available to RDM, and I can do that too.

As BLU, what I mean is:

1) Start casting in FC gear (Mirke+Salade) > Fast Cast kicks on casting time, which is reduced;
2) spell is being cast;
3) swap to Haste gear (Nashira Manteel+Turban) before the casting is over > Haste kicks on recast;
4) spell goes off. Instead of having -5% recast time from Mirke+Salade you have -8% recast time from Nashira+Turban.

All of the above within ~1.1 seconds.

Even if you physically do that, the game takes its time to register the switch if you're lagging, which may result in recasts calculated as if you had Mirke+Anwig instead of Nashira+Turban. I have tried that both manually and with spellcast (as RDM. FC set > spell > casting set on quick-casting spells), and it happens no matter what. So I just assume it's a PC speed issue.

Warlock's Chapeau and Duelist's Tabard aren't the best for recast, you even listed Walahra Turban and Nashira Manteel in your post. It's quite simple to start casting in Fast Cast and finish in Haste (or potency).

I may be getting wooshed but... I was always under the impression that RDM AF hat and AF2 body gave 5% recast time down each, just like a 5% haste piece would. So macroing in turban and manteel at the end is actually a decrease in recast (5 +3).

Negative, the recast benefit of a Fast Cast item is 50% of the Fast Cast value itself. RDM AF(+1) Hat grants the benefit of -5% recast. Where it gets tricky is that I'm told it is apparently multiplicative, not additive like i originally thought, with any reduction given from Haste effects.

Point: You can easily swap Fast Cast into any spell that takes at least 0.6 seconds to cast. Even with some lag, your equipment should be swapping in under 1 second. You can do this to end casting in Haste on Utsusemi, or end in Strength for physical spells.

Spellcast is quite laggy for me as well, I'm really not sure that my fast cast gear is always procing like it should be all i can do is roughly time it using the %'s which are exceptionally inaccurate even on 18 sec cast spells like teleports. I'm sure there is a better way to go about checking it but I'm not sure i have the tools to do that.

On Rdm I've heard that for some reason or another fast cast isn't as potent as haste for spell recasts but from what i've seen in practice the difference must be so little it doesn't matter. I already blink 3 times a cast as it is though so I still do it.

I've tried various times the new Fast Cast JT, and it was honestly already amazing, head butt's stun effect not even finished and already another head butt ready to go, unvalidating the stun effect if you try to just spam it. Gotta wait for the effect to wear off, costantly

This basically. Golden if you have Trait + Homam Legs + Loq Earring. And personally I'm content with Nash Body + Wala Turban, it's my own slack ass PC that sucks for the recasts-- even then I'm still pulling 16 second recasts on Ichi, 27~ on Ni.

That is not possible. If you have a .dat browser, check out ROM/220/58.DAT which lists every possible augment in the game. "Seedspray" is NOT a possible augment and is therefore false.
