So I have a nagging question.
If Vertical Cleave is 1 hit STR mod 3.0 @ 100, 200 and 300 (not even positive this is correct but I can't spend a lot of time looking I'm @ work) how come on Imps my CA Vertical Cleaves can range from 700 ish to 1200 ish...
Can anyone explain why this is, didn't think spells could critical without being forced by SA.. so not sure why the spikes in my dmg
Hmm maybe I worded that wrong,
I can CA V.Cleave on imp A and do 750 @ 0-60ish tp+(30) from enchainment
then
CA V.Cleave on Imp B 1 minute 30 second later and do 1200 dmg @ 0-60ish tp+(30) V.Cleave.
the "ish" is probably +/- 20 tp from each other.. can that small variation in tp really add this much dmg, im still at a loss...
Since Campaign's still kind of a clusterfuck for lazy EXP, I've been thinking about digging up my BLU gear and giving Cointeachs a try for solo. Has a good camp or two been settled on?
I don't think my LS has ever made a Wall of Death reference in Xarc, so I don't quite know what that infers to. Is it the one pull that's like a bunch of eyes lined up along a slope?
Here's a random question I need to get off my chest. I got into an argument with a guy about TP'n in a W. Turban instead of Homam head. In his defense, he said he didn't have enough Acc. gear, and that he felt 2% Haste isn't gonna make or break him. I told him that the extra haste from W. Turban will help out with recast timers, but he scoffs it off and says +15 haste is all he needs for everything, including ichi/ni timers.
On /NIN, how much Acc/Haste is a good balance? His point of view got me thinking a little bit. I'm sitting over +40 Acc (not including job traits) and +18 Haste. Is there a soft cap where I can sacrifice some Haste for some Acc or vice versa? This is assuming I'm in a situation where I'm parsing against other DDs (other BLUs included).
My current TP set: http://www.ffxiah.com/item_sets.php?id=95133
I was always told that get as much Haste > Acc as possible for TP'n overall, but the other guy made it sound like that anything after +15 Haste is a waste for BLU.
He's fooling himself. Much like the DRG with Homam pants that told me 1% Haste doesn't do anything and that 4STR=10Extra DMG on melee hits (And that SE fucked up the formulas so math people are always wrong?).
Anyways, in future questions such as this, FFXIGear is much easier on people looking at the question. First, looking at your gear set, on birds, you'll cap out on ACC if you have at least four merits into sword and are using Crap Sushi. Thus, the ACC from Homam helm is negligible. Second, assuming 420 ACC needed on other mobs, you'll be safe at five merits (Though at that point, max might be ideal?) with Sole Sushi. Third, ACC+5 Ring > Iota in your case. Iota appears on par with Ulth in terms if ACC grants using that gear. I believe you use that White Tathlum for an sTP set mentioned by Suiram (I remember this from another thread), so I won't mention Tiphia Sting here. Overall, in most situations where 407/420 are the ACC goals, Turban > Homam Helm with the help of sushi.
Technically homam head is alrite for soloing since we have to spam head butt.![]()
turbans better for tp unless you do 10 acc/3% haste kupo helm and actually needed the acc.
For TP piece, Kupo +5% haste +2 (str or dex) is the best, while turban is only marginally behind. The rest doesn't really have the place to stand. Good sushi will cap your acc on most situation, if your acc is overkill then aim for pizza(+1). If you're going to lose your food at anytime, crab sushi is your friend.
So, as I mentioned in the Random Question thread, I want to begin to try to figure out how exactly DEF is converted to "Attack" for the purposes of Cannonball damage. Nothing I have yet is even close to being conclusive, but Yugl, in that thread, suggested just getting started and posting the method I used here in case others want to pick it up and help out, which seems like a good idea.
So I went up and got 110 cannonball values against EM steelshells, matching my DEF to their DEF, and my STR to -10 their VIT. My friend, nivlakian, helped out by hasting and refreshing me, sleeping the crabs between spells, and dispelling after scissor guard and metallic body to save me MP. This is what I have so far.
Relevant Crab stats: Lv75, 96 VIT, 366 DEF (as per Studio Gobli Gf[^--although I confirmed the DEF value using /check, I'm taking their word on the VIT)
Relevant BLU stats: 75BLU/37NIN, 292 Blue Magic, 86 STR, 80 VIT, 366 DEF. 5/5 Physical Potency (just in case it doesn't actually do what they say it does lol)
Predicted Base damage:
D: 2*[292*0.11] + 3 = 67
fSTR: STR-VIT = -10 should give fSTR=0
WSC: [[86*0.5 + 80*0.5]*0.83] = 68
fTP: 1.75 (CA was never used)
[(67+0+68)*1.75] = 236
Observed damage:
Low: 179 (~0.758 PDIF)
High: 323 (~1.369 PDIF)
Mean: 248.85 (~1.054 PDIF)
Data Record (second column is frequency):
So that's what I have so far. I think next I'd like to try it at a higher DEF value and start to see how it scales as player DEF exceeds mob DEF. I'm not sure how to interpret what those PDIF values would correspond to as "Attack" for regular melee hits/WSs, if someone knows how to make that conversion. Any thoughts on how to proceed are welcomed.Code:179 1 181 1 183 1 184 1 186 2 190 1 191 1 195 1 198 1 201 1 202 1 207 2 210 1 216 1 217 1 218 1 219 2 220 1 223 1 226 1 227 1 233 1 236 4 237 5 238 2 239 1 240 4 241 4 242 3 243 6 244 2 245 4 246 4 247 5 250 1 252 1 256 1 257 2 259 2 262 1 263 2 266 2 271 2 273 1 274 1 275 1 278 2 282 3 285 1 287 1 295 2 296 1 298 3 301 2 302 1 303 1 305 1 307 2 312 1 313 1 315 1 323 1
It shouldn't affect HB, just that homam has the def/hp/mp/acc/haste on it and it's nice for soloing. 2%haste for tp shouldn't matter that much since we'll be casting HB or other spells. For me, who does not uses anything other than SE windower/full window, it's pretty nice because I don't have to hit 3 macros to cast a spell then 2 macros to switch back solo gears once every 5 seconds. Plus hitting that much macros while soloing something tough is kinda annoying.
Anyone using Homam Head on any job is doing it wrong.
To be fair, it isn't a terrible Breath head if you don't have a Mirage Keffiyeh or Saurian Helm yet.
I use Homam Head for its MACC on MP Drainkiss. ><;
