I'd think that they don't do it for the macc, really, they do it for the mp. 90 mp is nothing to sneeze at, while at the same time not being better than the str and dex swords. Plus, with Battery Charge mp is not nearly as much a concern as it used to be.
I haven't done the dark path on swords, but if otherwiki is to be believed there's another draw: the mob requirements for dark path are almost cut in half compared to other trials. You only need 150 kills for the last trial, just for instance.
Changing the subject: has anyone seen Tyrfing drop from Karkinos yet? It was reported awhile back that it dropped from it, but nothing has corroborated that yet, I think.
Pretty sure most of the people who do the magic accuracy swords do it because they think it increases physical spell accuracy.
Its on Tizona so it must be good !
A lot do it on my server also... maybe some hidden effect that only the JP know about!
I did one mainly to nudge up the accuracy of Head Butt's stun effect (It can be finnicky on high-INT mobs, after all). More accuracy for the Roars and other debuffs if I happen to be using them doesn't hurt, either. Magic merits are also tied up in Elemental and Enfeebling, too. I just kind of look at it as if I'm on BLU for something, it's probably for the utility. If my LS wanted damage, it'd probably pick another job that's easier to work with.
Hahaha, had to explain that tonight at Limbus. Finally got around to buying a pile of specific gear and upgrading spellcast to cover every STR, INT, DEX, MND, or Fast Cast need in detail (I just half-assed STR mods previously). Took about 1 mob for them to notice I barely ever re-appeared.
blinkmenot is their friend!
How does x2 STR Shamshir compare to say, DA/STR?
Woot!

(and I got Abyssite from them as well)
Was it ever estabilished whether m.acc affects physical spells' added effects proc rates or not? If yes, that's the most logical reason to wield 2x m.acc+10 swords.
Other than that, they can get some use if you really like casting Temporal Shift and such while keeping your TP.
Yes macc affects proc rate on added effect but it doesn't make logical to do maccx2
Since you'd be better off doing +acc on one and +macc on the other since you still need the physical spell to land in the first place before you can get the added effect to proc. Especially since there's no hard numbers backing up how much acc a blu needs for physical spells to land.
If you don't change gear on every single spellcast, you shouldn't play Blu. Or Rdm. End of discussion.
At the risk of sounding like I'm trolling(genuinely not trying to), why do you all care about melee weapons? I understand that BLU has(one?) niche and a few things that they're decent alternatives for, but I can't think of a single thing that BLU is even remotely good at that involves you meleeing.
You could apply this logic to THF since they aren't "good at anything" besides tagging a mob with Feint/TH as well. Relic Hands, THF Knife, Pizza and you're good to go!
Point is, if you care about a job then you should be gearing it appropriately regardless of what the ideal situations are where a job shines. That is the point of this thread.
