Is that how he works then? Was already up when I got there, looked like he'd just finished faceraping a few people who didn't know he was active yet...

Attohwa quest is pretty easy. Talk to Brutus at Conflux 8 at the middle of the map in the caves, go to Conflux 7, go SW until you find the Chocobo Spoor(becomes inactive for a few mins), trade greens, run away, and then try to sneak up behind the choco and then click on it. Sneak and invis seems to help somewhat. Bring extra greens.
Quest kinda sucks in that I did it like 10 times before I got any seals at all, but the one I did get was a BLU head seal.
And yeh, saw the iron giant in Vunkie murdering people at Conflux 00 as they popped in. Such fun. Was able to outrun him with Atma of Ambition, so he should be killable with any kiting strat easily.
Once I know how to pop him for sure I'll get some LSmates and get that mavi tathlum.
I got access to the Brutus quest by doing (sorry, forgot the names): Cura II quest, the one where you get supply packages for a Mithra, and then two Crimson Carpet II bastion OPs. Given the drop rates on amoebans, probably best to just skip that one.
thanks much guys
Just soloed the Ironclad Executor to 20% as blu/nin in ~80-90min. Sam/nin and blu/thf friends came to help, Pluviale did not drop but I think 2 blu/nin can duo this in under 90min. :D happy hunting!
The way I soloed it as blu/nin was kiting and cannonballing/disserverment. It's melee attack either take 2-3 shadows, you can wait for it to swing/stomp then come close to it to disserverment for ~600-1100 + poison. It's tp move (Incinerator) hits for ~400-600 with ~50ish burn dot (can't remember). The only trouble I had was keeping my HP up so I wont die when I try to disserverment it since I only had 120 minutes. Plenty of room to kite in vunkrel inlet too, I kited it from E-8 to G-8 since I was unable to find a good pinning place. I notice my damage did 0~80 at times, it usually go back to normal when I deaggro it unclear if it rages or just my damage suck.
I think Fantod hate got nerfed. Tried spamming it while kiting last night, did not turn out so well for my party members. I'll test is later, it would be disappointing if such a great tool was rendered useless immediately.
Yea, I heard about rdm and sch soloing this thing. Will try other spells instead of just cannonball and disserverment next time. :D
Did you have ASA atma? All I had was w.legs so keeping it away from hurting me was a bit tough due to no pinning.
Tested it again, still 320 CE/VE.
Edit: And on an unrelated note, Cold Wave DoT is going up, no particularly detailed testing because of interferences and the fact that it's not all that useful, but it seems to be up to 20 HP/tick at 85. Expecting it to go up 1 damage for every 5 levels. Don't know about AGI down, might test another time.
Yeah, I used ASA, as did one of my friends on his SCH. The other simply used Sandstorm -- kite around rocks between G-8 onto H/I-8 (theres a ramp up to a cliff drop here that you can use as well.) No matter what, you'll take a few hits, but even then its not bad at all when you finally get a hang of it.
I'm this friend Sho speaks of! ASA atma (movement speed in general) isn't required to take down this thing, but it helps alot, especially since it has 5/tick refresh. I've killed this thing ten times (2/10 on the Pluviale drop, finally got it for myself) and I've got quite good at him, he's really easy. In fact, 2 RDM/nins can duo speed kill him in about 20-30 minutes. Although we're mostly BLUs so, I'd recommend either regurgitation spamming (safer), or if you're duoing with a SCH or RDM, bounce hate back and forth with them using QC (hits quite high numbers on this guy as per usual) followed by Temporal Shift so you have a short time to gtfo of range before he can eat you.
He doesn't actually melee, but swings his sword or stomps, which is an AoE melee attack that hits 2-4 times (shadows absorb) anything within 15' of the direction he's facing. Even if there's nobody in range he'll swing/stomp, which makes kiting him quite easy.
He pops at I-8 about every 1 hour and 15 minutes (that's how long it took for repop, in my experience, that's 10 fights) and lies all crumbled into pieces on the ground, in his "dormant" state. As soon as you step over his pieces, he gets himself put together and immediately starts attacking you.
Hit my SCH/NIN with -40% PDT and Protect 5 for about 250-300 a hit, with Arm Cannon hitting me for around 600. Similar damage from Incinerator with MDT-12% and Shell 5 (didn't bring an MDT set since it never really landed either TP moves on me). Incinerator also inflicts a burn, which was doing around 50/tick to me, but it wore off pretty quickly (in my experience at least, I've only got hit by it twice in my 10 runs).
The best area to kite him is G-8, west of his pop area. There's alot of trees and boulders and random little rocks plus a hill where you can just keep cycling, this was the best area hands down for kiting because of him stopping to stomp/slash and using rocks/trees/bushes/etc to make him path oddly while you and your partner(s) bounce hate.
Dunno what else to say, I think I got mostly everything? Enjoy your easy to obtain ammos guys, hopefully SE doesn't put a flee affect on this guy, either way I've got what I wanted!
For Cannonballing, Bibiki Seashell still beats a tier-jump from Mavi Tathlum, correct?
50% VIT mod means the +4 vit gives +2 base damage, but with a side-effect of +2 def, vs. Mavi's straight-up +2 base damage due to the tier jump, assuming Gobli has the DMG tiers correct.
I love how the Bibiki Seashell NPCs both say they'd love to go again, but the quest still isn't repeatable. I tossed mine before they made them untossable.
And beat 9k Quad. 9310, too lazy to upload the screenshot and I want to make a DBZ tribute with it first anyway.
