Did cook book quest with just 80/80 and sam seal out of the 4 that it can give, got 8 in 112 runs. Also did sausage quest when doing cookbook, had drk and rng seals while being 80/80 and got 7drk and 7rng when I got my 8/8 sam seals. So yes, you don't get seal if you're 80/80 except for the ones in your inventory.

for the 80/80 trick you need at least 1 seal of the type you're looking for. and also remove any other seals from your gobbie bag. then complete the quest while you have full inventory and have auto sort on. it will sort the seal matching the one in your gobbie bag (provided the quest gives that seal) into your gobbie bag. it doesn't give you anything or increase your chances of getting a seal. it basically tosses the unwanted seals.

For instance if you have 80/80 inventory with a BLU seal in your inventory, and you do 20 runs and the quest was going to give you 5 MNK 1 blu 1 pld, the game would toss the MNK and PLD seals for you and you'd only see the BLU seal fall to your inventory out of the 20 times. In a way, it keeps you from seeing other seals and getting frustrated when you have 2x as many seals for other jobs than the one you are going after.

It's depressing even if you get a seal, since it's likely one you don't need. . ___.

Not if you do the 80/80 trick. But i dunno what's more depressing, seeing another jobs seal you don't need, or not getting at all lol seems to be about the same to me though =/ either way it's a waste

You people should just solo/duo/trio the Orobon NM, preferably with a THF. Got 4 seals today doing just that. To hell with the Murex Quest.

Spent 6 stones worth of time killing the Orobon with only DRK/SAM/WHM seals to show for it. The pop item itself is fucking rare, compared to the rest of the abyssea pop items that in grand total, I think a whole stone was spent farming those alone. :<

:< Yikes. Have you tried the Flytrap NM? IMO both NMs are still better than Murex Quest; I'd rather spend my time getting multiple seals for myself and friends and some small money on the side (800k earrings) than walking in and out of the Maw for tons of hours ._.

If the despoil rate on Murex was more pimp, those damn things would be 5~10k on AH instead of 30~70k.

Drop rate on pop item definitely blows. I've been duoing Asanbosam instead, doesn't take very long. He doesn't put out either but meh, at least I'm not burning a shitton of stones in the process.

Tried Bat NM yet? That thing can be kited/pinned.

Flytrap is a douche with his hate reset on Palsy Pollen+Weight Aura, and I've never actually seen the bat NM up. It's always dead when I pass by, lol.

@Villian: Whereabouts is the pinning spot?

It's not clear whether this is a potency increase or increase in stat modifiers.

If anyone who understands the math better than I wants to devise a more accurate test (including a way to determine if it's a potency or stat mod increase) I'd be happy to run it over the next couple days.
Has anyone else done any more testing on this? If you have to keep it equipped during the spell cast, it means you can't equip Mirrage Head to break into the next tier (Merits, AF Body, AFv3 Legs, Tathlum, Mirrage Head), and you'd need to get the +2 pants to balance that out.

It's not really a pinning spot but more like a kite place + weird pathing bath.

I would solo Asanbosam on SCH simply by de-aggroing it, keepuing up a DoT and a Helix, if both were up, i'd nuke > De-aggro. It will path weird through the colibiris, and down near the Frigatebirds

finished pants orobon is easiest, rdm/sch takes 17 minutes with 2hour about 23 with out, its easy to find help if you offer kemas earring to people. Problem with bat is people will steal it and fuck the fly trap, also fuck the quest 1/27 trading Testing Eflfux enhancement is hard due to the pants having skill and most physical spell modifiers. edit took about 9-12 orobon to get 5 seals.

Been using hat in a separate gear set just for closing skillchains, can pretty definitively say the hat must be on during spell cast, and in fact only has to be on during the spell, doesn't need to be on when using CA. Don't have AF2 head so can't compare difference in tier to potency from hat but it seems to be roughly a 20% increase in damage so should be better than any tier increase.

How would one go about soloing the Orobon on SCH? Any special tips or just kite/nuke? Resists grav/bind/sleep?

We went last night with RDM, BLM x3 on Orobon NM. We did about 5 pops and each fight took us about 7-8 minutes.

If a BLM can land gravity on it (ours did), I doubt a SCH would have any issues. Just gravity, kite, and nuke (lightning elemental nukes). If gravity wears, use bind. Leeching Current (drain attack, goes through shadows) is quite capable of one shotting a mage and has a bit of range on it, so don't get too close to the mob. Hypnotize (sleep) seems to be avoidable by keeping your back to it.

The only possible issue you might encounter is gravity/bind resists if the fight goes on too long.

Just to add onto this, Bind resists a bit more often than Gravity will. Gravity will only start to lose potency after about 10~15 mins, but it'll still land very well. Cryohelix, grav, bind, then drop Bliz4/3 and Thunder4/3 nukes as much as you can. It's pathing is terrible -- it'll wade from side to side (instead of running straight) if you path him between the Ancient Orobon spawns and the Martello. Very simple (bring more people so your time isn't wasted). Leeching Current has a start up time of about 3.5 seconds and a circular AoE range of about 15.1", so you'll want to keep running if he starts that up.

The only real problem is getting extra cheekmeat pop items really. However, I'd recommend buying them from the AH even.
