Blue Mage: Best thread ever

BLU is honestly a huge powerhouse now, I really hope it doesn't get nerfed because I'm really enjoying it lol. Just wrecks almost all jobs on good majority of old content especially with an almost never ending mp pool with small-none support (rdm w/refresh2 maybe) and holds its own very well on the new stuff.

I agree and disaggree. BLU is a powerhouse but so are other jobs espacially in abyssea. Atmas make amazing difference too. Like this crit Atma probably adds at elast 50% to dmg on jobs that use crits WS or even turn lol WS in some crazy shit (MNK avg 2k Ascetic furys on NMs). New WS are also broken for some jobs Fudo for example. All jobs got massive boost especially in abyssea with Atmas. I agree tho that if BLU is not equal now in pure dmg to melee jobs its for sure much much closer then it was. Also I enjoy specyfic build on BLU a lot. Like sanguine blade doing 1.5k with ascetic + BT + atma is so funny (I like to imagine that poor PLDs that using it in abyssea exp pt for 350ish and seeing my 1k+ lol). recovery chest are also so much fun lol. Try Final sting on yellow mobs that down you to 1hp then sanguine blade on 300%tp that puts you back to yellow hp. People dont even know what happened watching your hp bar lol.

Yeah I know, I meant mostly from old content. Sky gods/sea jailers/dynamis/einherjar/limbus etc, BLU just rips through mobs with little to no support so easily...

Disseverment is the only old spell I can even bother setting now, the dmg on Frenetic/Hysteric are so low compared to the new spells that it's sad.

Osmosis is turning out to be a really nice spell as well, rolling Drain and Voracious Trunk into one neat spell combination for monsters with nice boosts I can take for myself.

Yeah if they have a lot of self buffs, otherwise I don't like setting it for 5 points when I get healed otherwise. Yeah, I mainly only use Disservernment now, don't bother with F rip at all and sometimes H barrage depending on support.

I want to max Sanguine as much as I can, I honestly don't have enough room to pack all of my BLU gear in my inventory anymore. ;_; It's fucking terrible.

Edit: Also, anyone else having trouble with Benthic missing more often than not? It's friggin annoying wasting CA on it when it whiffs.

I love the dex on tayt+2. I almost never miss a hit when using Dissevernment outside of Abyssea. Still no idea what the enhances Efflux does.

Is there no damage tier past 377? With full merits, Mirage Head, af body, tayt+2, & tathlum I hit 387 skill. Wouldn't that be at least one more base?

I keep a lot of gear satcheled at any given time these days Even with that I could stand to have a bit more room for shit when I'm meleeing.

Benthic is annoying, I'm pretty sure I'm still parsing 95% on it but all those whiffs are fucking frustrating.

I actually made a shimsham AGI set up for BT. It's pretty nice dropping 1k every once in a while for DEF Down effect. I should totally move my mage gears around for a Sanguine Blade set up as well. ; ;

My SB setup generally follows my magical builds for regur/firespit etc so didn't have to go too far outta my way (and most of it used on blm too)

Ahh yeah, that's how it is for me a swell - can just pool over SCH gear since it doubles as Regurgitation/Sanguine Blade gear. Just sucks that I probably wont be able to hold that set and BT together outside of satchel. ; ;

Obviously it has a DEX mod. Try casting it on an VT mob while naked, then again in full DEX gear and see which does more damage.

Trying to solo damn isnm 3000 puk but having some difficulty. Was all gungho that I could do it easily with whirl of rage but apparently they always spawn with 3 shadows which I don't remember since we always had a BLM aga them... So then I tried frypan > whirl of rage and it worked decently but kinda messes my MP and if it misses some they just keep beating on me, 50~80 dmg each with cocoon up. I used sole sushi, prolly should use tav taco. Gonna try again later with battle dance > whirl of range to knock out shadows, and I already have sub zero smash set for fast cast so will do that if any stragglers. Maelstrom is an option but it takes 165 mp which is more than rage + frypan combined so I don't wanna use it. Also don't wanna resort to meds lol, but anyone did this before?

Edit: Could also yawn them all... I wonder if that would work.
