You mean that if the BLU, for example, was trying to unlock a Dissector, that closing with a spell wouldn't count?Originally Posted by liefe

I'd think the first example would give 1 point, and Im pretty sure the second would give 5. I dont think the game distinguishes how an SC is made, just checks to see if you made a Skillchain, and if you did, you get the appropriate points.Originally Posted by Priran
Is there something I'm missing here? It's impossible to finish your own spell with your own weapon skill and you'd only get 1 point if you started any renkei anyway.Originally Posted by liefe
If you use Chain Affinity to open a skillchain with a spell your TP is lost and you won't be able to use a normal weapon skill to close.Originally Posted by Russta
You can only go Sword WS > CA+Spell to chain.
edit: nm that, I misunderstood what Russta said.![]()
I know, that's what I'm saying which is why his post didn't make much sense.Originally Posted by Kurp
His post makes perfect sense. He is saying his spells aren't giving him points to unlock his latent. Which makes sense because its not your weapon that is being used to chain its the spell itself.Originally Posted by Russta
But that's obvious. It didn't need someone to post and say that because no one would think it did.Originally Posted by Razz
Even if BLU could close their own renkei, its faster to SC with someone else anyway.
I guess, but you can't always drag somebody to kill crabs with you. I just solo'd robber crabs inbetween exp sessions (farmed seals too :D)Originally Posted by Koyangi
Well, since they're based on your sword accuracy I figured they might help to unlock it. But yeah, whatever they don't. :/
Hey, in the end, liefe confirmed something for us. Maybe it seemed obvious, but until he confirmed it, no one could say for sure. So I'm gonna say thanks liefe. Now the rest of us don't have to waste our time.
I think it was somewhat obvious...
1-you cant close a blu-self-SC seeing as how CA spell will take your TP.
2-The SCing "ws" isnt a weapon skill, and it definately is not from the trial weapon.
Sorta same direction here:
Has anyone noticed that if you use CA, WS, then use your spell to close a skillchain... that the spell receives the TP bonus of when you used CA even though the weapon skill reduced it to zero before you casted it? I continue to notice a much higher damage with spells in this scenario, even though im casting with 6% tp after a WS.
Is it possible the TP bonus for CA is calculated when you use the ability, and not when you cast the spell?
(I apologize if this is as "obvious" as liefe's post, but this is just something I happened to notice the last few exp PTs and im looking to see if its confirmed or not)
Yeah I've been wondering that too. I would've thought that if I used say for example, frenetic rip with 100TP it would do more damage but it seems to do the same as when I do it with 6%, so I've never bothered to build tp for CA+f.rip alone, always a weaponskill before it for more damage output. I'm sure SATACA death scissors does more damage at 100tp than 10tp though judging from all the screenshots of Battosi using it.Originally Posted by Celeras
Is there any way to force a Dragon (hopefully Shadow Dragon) to Body Slam? I'm getting close to the learn level for that spell and can duo it no problem with my BLU + 75MNK, but is there any method to trigger a Slam and not one of the other 400 TP moves Dragons seem to have?
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvYeah, from the level 80+ mobs in Mount Z.
Have anyone actiualy gotten Body slam yet... i been holding Shadow Dragon for 1hr+ now and it's used like 40+ ws (Thornsong, Heavy Stomp, Petro Eyes, Wind Breath)
Been 75 for a few days now and this is by far the most anying ws to get.
someone said earlier to make it body slam was to pull hate in every direction (back/siudes/front) and force body slam guess its maybe like a spike flail move for this thing...?
I tried all the sides, when i was standing behind it the damm thing would just turn if it used a WS where it needed to face me...
I think you will need help for Body Slam. I'm guessing Gulkeeva meant that you need to have someone else pull aggro off you from behind (or another direction than where you are) for a dragon to body slam.
I think, but I'm not sure, body slam is "activated" or added to its WS list after you do some large nukes to it. Was helping a blu friend do this for awhile and couldn't get those Dahaks to body slam at all by just meleeing and giving it TP. Decided to nuke with Bliz 3 and it would start doing Body Slam afterwards. Maybe hate has to do it with it too as mentioned... would make sense since ash dragons love to body slam black mages in dynamis-xarc![]()
