No cap on Magic Barrier yet, it absorbs equal to BlueSkill if I recall, so roughly ~350. It's nice.

jimbob was talking in relation to Vertical Cleave I believe, which is Damage varies with TP modified.

Furthermore, while it's true that we may need it for future fights, that could be said of any preexisting spell, but we don't discuss those, so why do we (FFXIAH included) discuss SATACAing spells?
Eh, most other physical spells are pretty much stack STR and go to town. BT's certainly different with the AGI mod. Not really much to a discussion on Breaths as it's just get high HP then enough MACC by whatever means to land them. Regurg is INT stack while EoM goes for CHR. These have all been talked about in the past, perhaps not to dead horse status, but BT's just the new kid on the block with BLU itself gaining popularity through Abyssea. And people love big numbers. As I think I said in my earlier query about it, I'd underestimated BT until I saw it doing 800+ with no swaps just dicking around. It's easier getting caught up in QC damage since 3k+ isn't unheard of with stacked buffs. But yeah, the time I was rostered /THF was when we went to kill Eve for clear/Atma. There was one other I'm blanking on, but doesn't much matter I guess.

The problem I'm trying to point out with "It may not be useful now, but it might be in the future" statements is that you can apply it to ANY spell. We could be discussing the best way to make Chaotic Eye land because it may be useful in the future, but we don't (Not that I want to, but do you see the dilemma here?).

Could probably do Enhanced mobs or elementals. Could complete but it would be a little rough. Set a sleep spell for enhanced mobs, and kill them normally. Will want remedy for paralyze on tigers, set mp drainkiss or hammer for beetles and elemental zone. Avatar can be stunned, elementals aren't too threatening either.

Is there some reason I see over 9000 JP BLUs running around with 2X [+60MP & +14M.Acc] Shamshir+1s?

Perhaps the Darksday/Weather trials are just the easiest to complete for some 52 DMG 230 Delay swords with stats on them?

Maybe massive M.Acc for breath builds (though I see quite a few of them full-time these even solo)?

Are they just bad at the game? A fair number of them have very nice gear otherwise... I feel that I must be missing something.

You're missing Head Butt additional effect, as well as additional effects of other spells. If a JP BLU fails to land Head Butt/debuffs reliably on HNMs, he is considered gimp/noob. Getting 50 more damage (just a random number, sorry) from STR swords per spell is considered less important/laughable than stunning HNM TP move/spell. Might suprise you, but JP DDs generally don't suck (no such thing as burning 30->85 in Abyssea and pretending you can do anything next day), so BLU is free/expected to focus on other aspects of the job in party/alliance than pure damage.

There's nothing "not suck" about using competent DD as a justification for having your BLU sit there and essentially do nothing.

Hmm, so in your opinion QC/BT/GR spam = good BLU, job well done? Well, you might play your BLU this way and be happy with this, I don't mind. I was explaining how more less JPs expect BLU to be played. To them, there are plenty of jobs that can put out 3k+ damage (even AoE - hello WAR/BLM), but fewer that can stun every 3s, keep ATK-, DEF-, MDEF- full time etc. They're just making best use of unique aspects of the job. It's kinda similar to why JPs go COR/WHM to xp/events. The job is just hybrid - if your DDs suck, sure, you can take over and if you know what you're doing put them in shame, but if they don't, kick RDM from your party, grab another WAR/SAM/MNK instead and increase their output with your little support.
Anyway, Sylvrdragon asked why they do what they do, and this is my explanation, to the best of my knowledge.
You're free to disagree with it and do your own thing.
PS: If you haven't yet, consider removing that Head Butt from your palette - it's damage is pitiful and you could use up those blue points on Vanity Dive/Smite or Rage or even some STR+ spell. Hell, even Final Sting looks more awesome in the chatlog!
Edit: Also, please note I was writing all of this with some decent challenge+ HNMs or low-man NM fights in mind; in case you were looking for some Pachypodium {Battle Strategies}.

Tsuko isn't a blu, he was just commenting on how awful the idea of spamming debuffs is. When WHMs have cure 5/6 for timers and unlimited mp, nobody gives a shit.. do the most damage you can or go home. That said, really should just avoid going blu in the first place and use a real dd.

Grellow triggers can be done even on resists if I recall. That being said, with the enormous amounts of STR+ you can get in Abyssea I don't see the point in STR Shamshirs. I believe Yugl made a similar argument[1] and I would have to agree. BLUs can get 'enough' STR now when in Abyssea and Haste+% or ensuring I stun some annoying TP move (e.g. Nucleic Implosion) is more of a priority to me.

BLU outpaces a lot of DD since Minkin+VV makes for endless spike damage.

Edit: In 2-3 member PT situations at least.

I was referring more to the whole "why use blu at all?" argument which inevitably rears it's head, but it's still good to know (been abyssea leeching my own blu so my LS has more flexibility with jobs when it comes to ensuring we can trigger !!s, but if I can still trigger on resists then I don't have to worry as much about going out of my way to gear it).

I still have yet to see actual proof of a resisted spell triggering...seeing as how people still think that dnc flourishes trigger stuff, aga2's are triggers, requiem...etc etc. I'm trying to farm my mules their rdm/blm seals and I've been doing Quasimodo as thf/nin blm/whm rdm/brd, I triggered a grellow !! from Threnody, but it wasnt resisted, it actually landed...much to my surprise and dismay.

This^ , granted, my opinion of BLU has been slightly altered with the implementation of atma that essentially grant infinite MP. I still think you're better off with melee, but I'd be a fool to not recognize the increase in the job's power.

That aside, you seem to be pretty passionate about defending the silliness of JP practices. Protip: Most of them are terrible at this game. They're actually at a terrible disadvantage in that regard. They still have the same retard population the NA does, in addition to having most of their more "elite" players using retardedly conservative practices.

Well to me though how much macc is too much (Probably missing shit here too)
    Sturms report - 2 macc | Mavi Tathlum - 5 skill
    Homam - 4 acc 4macc 3 haste | Nashiras - 5 macc 2 haste | Ebur Tam - 2 macc fastcast | Mirage 5 skill
    Lieutenants gorget - 4 acc 2 macc | Mavi - 4 sword 4 skill
    Macc set earrings - 5 macc | 2 Incubus +1 earring - 6 macc
    Nashiras Manteel - 5 macc 3 haste | ebur talar - 3 macc fast cast | AF+1 - 15 skill
    Nashiras Gages - 4 macc 1 haste | Morrigan - 5 macc | Symbios - 5 skill
    Balrah's ring - 4 macc | Omega ring - 3 macc | Insect ring 2 macc
    Mirage - 3 macc 7 acc | Hecates - 3 macc
    Moblin Cest -2 macc
    Mirage +1 - 5 macc 5 acc | Denali - 3 macc 3 acc | nashiras - 3 macc 2 haste | Mavi+2 - 15 skill 4% haste
    Mavi+2 - 8 macc | Denali - 3 macc 5 acc | Nashiras - 2 macc 1 haste

I have a hard time believing that if you had 1/2 this shit you still would need another +14 macc let alone a full +28 macc.

This is my opinion an optimal headbutt set up
    Mavi talthum 5 skill
mavi Kavuk +2 12 acc 7 sword skill 6% haste
Lieutenants gorget 4 acc 2 macc
    Incubus earring +1 3 macc
    Loq. Earring - fastcast
    Nashiras Manteel - 5 macc 3 haste
    Nashiras Gages - 3 macc 1 haste
    Balrah's Ring - 4 macc
    adler ring - 8 acc
    Mirage Mantle - 7 acc 3 macc
    Speed belt - 6 haste
    Mavi Tayt +2 - 15 skill 4% haste 8 dex
    Mavi Basmak +2 - 8 macc 10 int.

    +20 blu skill
    +31 acc
    +7 sword skill
    +20% haste
    +28 macc
    +8 dex
    +10 int
    +fastcast

They trigger, but this is just the observation of someone flustered with being the LS BLU bitch for the past 6 runs while other people lot BLU stuff. Still haven't +1'd anything and lost feet to 4 different people. Go team~

More specifically, the resisted spell I've seen trigger has been 1000 Needles, three times (One on Percy, another Whiro, then some random Vunk NM). Probably one of BLU's more fickle spells in terms of land rate.

That'sd actually very i've been asking myself why those damn .... Magic acc swords... but well guess that makes sense... however sorry if i am a noob but.. the add effect is based on magic acc and not acc ?

Also i've seen very weird swords on jps...

Double chr+6 sword.... or dual magic eva swords.... and well guess those will have their own explanations... ( i just did the str and dex ones tbh)

Btw i know almost no one does DI anymore but my ls tried last night and i did 2.5K Bentic with SA + CA + EFFLUX.

It was very surprising at least for me ><

Accuracy helps the headbutt itself land, but MACC increases the chances of the stun effect landing. However, there is a point at which both accuracy and MACC are both capped, which is the argument against MACC swords.

    o.O; WHM aside, I don't think I've ever seen a light-based weapon.
