This might also be kind of "obvious," but I haven't seen it stated anywhere.

Reactor Cool is only an 11-12% defense bonus compared to Cocoon's 50%. The spikes do about 15 damage. Against Phuabos the spikes seemed to paralyze very often. It has a minute recast with a 1:30 duration.

It is just like the NPC version though and can't be dispelled or overwritten.
However, if you cast it and you are already stuck with a greater defense down status, the defense up won't stick.

If it was about 25% defense up instead of 11-12% it would be so much more useful. :/

You can cast Reactor Cool first then Cocoon and you get Ice Spikes and +50% def.

No screenshots, but I don't see why they would make this up, unless they were just mistaking Beseiged for something else perhaps.
Well, I will believe them on this one because you have to remember that besieged DOES give exp points in the end. Not sure what I could try and learn from them that I don't already have though.

I realize that, but it seems like kind of a waste of MP post Plasma Charge and defeats the purpose of a non-overwritable defense boost.

I think vertical cleave is darkness (gravitation), so you can make darkness with that too? Not sure.

What do you sub? THF is, from all accounts I have read, the best high level sub. BLU is survivable enough with cocoon, stuns, etc.

How does that help your spells :/ Or is it the awesome sword selection that we can DD with that makes those great.

EDIT: Or does DA work on Blue Spells?

I'm sure 99,9% that DA works based in my experience.

How good is Yawn? I haven't read anything about it yet and I've not been impressed with any of Blue Mage's sleep spells in the slightest. If it's better than the rest I'll make the effort to drag him up to Zhayolm and learn it from the bastards from hell.

Havent used it outside of ballista (it got resisted lol) and it doesnt work if the mob isnt facing you but you can learn it easily from the apkallu on the boat to nashmau, they con too weak at 75.

And maxx, I don't sub thf because like other melees, its just not worth doing SATACA once per 1/2 minutes instead of just going for DPS with barrage, rip and disservement spam. I really fail to understand why people sub thf when in TP burns the mob is erratic in hate to the point where your SATACA will not hit properly anyway. With auto refresh, refresh and evoker's roll or ballad I can spam said 3 spells along with WSes (self SCs) and do so much damage its sick.

Its like DRKs subbing thf in merit PTs when they could do much more damage on /nin or even /war (note I do not sub war because my spam gets me alot of hate making me blink tank alot).

Cyberfoxx asked if there was a good use of Vertical Cleave, I said Sneak Attack and you said "lolthf". Don't know where you got the asumption I used /thf in EXP. I use NIN too in exp. /THF is great for harder stuff.

I got the impression some people (like bulk and battosi) use /thf in EXP, so I raised the question as to why they would.

adding to mitzki's post because I staticed with him and Zanon (aka Elrik now anyway) to 75:

Blu can solo T and lower mobs better than blm and rdm, and for way less mp. Frip, Head Butt, Hbarrage, Head Butt, Disseverment, Head Butt, melee, melee, CA WS w/e dead shitty mob for like 140mp most of the time. BLU is godly when given the ability to pump spell damage and melee, with shadows for safety if they happen to pull hate (which they will).

    TRUFAX

ps: we got chain30+ (I forgot the final number, I didn't take a screenshot) with pld blu blu blm cor brd in caedarva mire and did, at one point in time (Lv72) 18k/hr
