Blue Mage: Best thread ever

Rolled out with some Combos today, upgraded my gear a little too.

Managed to hit 999 Atk with Stalwart's Gambir and Red Curry Bun using AoA/RR/Apoc and needless to say the WSs were... crazy high (constantly 5-6k) with crit's in the 700's from Aftermath - Liked that combo a ridiculous amount. Dropped Gambir, managed to get my attack at 886 I think, was doing around 4.5k-5k average, which is a hell of a boost on 2.5k's lol... So yea, the AoA/RR/Apoc combo is ridiculous for TP gain and WSs (which hovered around 4k without any drinks), especially with the DblAtk sword in offhand and TripAtk+25% overall, madness.

Now I just hope that with Lv95, they split the Khanda path because I did OA4 first, and can't get me another Khanda+2 with DblAtK+10, so sticking with the +1 version atm :/

Curious what were you fighting that this performed so well against? I used those atmas but still had wild swings on CDC damage and not close to ur average some great highs but quite a few stinky lows as well.

Odd question here...but is Morgana's cotehardie worth its weight in matk +8 within abyssea (instead of teal saio) seeing as accuracy wouldnt be too hindered? Or am I looking at just a -1 inv slot that should be filled with the saio (morrigans if i can get it later)?

And about the cdc build are the aclide's suggestions really better than af3+2 legs, mirage hands +1, and snow belt ? Or is this one of those situations where you can substitute several things to give the same effect?

I'm fairly certain Alcide's+1 is almost always better unless you don't need the attack. Pretty sure Cuch always beats Snow belt too.

How exactly were you so consistent on dmg? I mean you only like 70%ish chance to crit would add alot of variance as would the triple attacking

Who would care about those non crit 2k, just erase them from the memory and you have constant 5-6k

QFT I tried those combos and the damage was all over the place the only thing that was consistent was that it was't consistent at all....

I've junked my previous Shantotto Pants, and am considering using it for BLU at the moment. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I might do?

For reference, I refuse to ever wear Darksteel Subligar because it's a subligar.

At the moment, I'm considering PDT + Cure Potency so it can serve two functions.

Intend to use BLU for mostly Abyssea Cleaving, but if anyone has alternative ideas, I'm open to suggestions.

I made my pants into -PDT and movement speed(didnt have a reliable method of getting w.legs when I did ASA) but even for cleaving on my BLU it's pretty good, but not entirely necessary. If you have W. legs already for running then what you suggested is perfectly fine, since there's not many cure pot options for BLU

Well, kirin not that hard to farm/buy and kill. Should get crimson pants and augment them with evade and fast cast since you're gonna cleave. Fast run speed makes a non dead blu. Should probably use af3+2 pants for cleaving anyhow, so asa for something else perhaps? If no crimson then fastrun and pdt prob your best bet for them.

Starting to think Grapevine cape is a waste of gil lol, 30 extra mp? I guess it can be useful outside of abyssea or solo.

But in all fairness, I was fighting Snowflakes, Gears, Mechanics, Spectators, etc (worked through the Ule mobs for a bit) to get those numbers. Highest WS was on a Spectator. But the Trip Atk rate with the Khanda DblAtk and other crap makes it a pretty good setup. Maybe someone else with Thief tonight so I get to BLU tonight's run to test it against everything else and some NMs.

I'd just use normal str set. Some differences if you care though would be af3 gloves. Maybe morrigans robe and Morri feet.

If you want to finish chain with spell there is no reason to not use cdc earlier.

Benthic > Ram > CDC > Rush > Cleave > Quad

and the option for /thf
CDC/quad > Rush > cleave > Ram > TA quad/CDC > SA benthic

Tried this combo for 2hr and it didn't work unless I did something wrong?

Did BT > Ram, which did nothing, followed with CDC (didnt see SC due to gear swap) > Gob rush > fusion > cleave > swapped (gravitiation i think i saw) > quad (it died lol). Did we ever figure out what the best combo for a zerg would be?

With its Secondary modifiers: STR: 30% MND: 30% I use a STR heavy set similar to savage blade which has str 30% + mnd 50%.
