EDIT: nvm, looks like I goofed the math last night. Almace/DA attacks about 2.6% faster outside Abyssea, 0.43% inside if using AoA.

So been playing around with azure lore and idk things just don't skillchain sometimes when they should. Like I've tried doing vertical cleave ram charge a few times with different timings and nothing then did vertical cleave as AZ wears off. So did CA ram charge and bam skillchain. It almost seems like the effect doesn't start for a couple of seconds after you 2hr and doesn't end till a little after it. Idk.

And sometimes they work and sometimes they don't it's kinda weird

Yeah Idk seems like it needs a fix. I'm just playing around without gear swaps and it's not that I'm blinking out it just fires sometimes and doesn't others. Especially at the start it seems

Between Isador, DA Khanda, and STR Shamshir, which 2 should I be using until I get my Almace? Also, once I DO get my Almace, is STR Shamshir the clear winner these days, or is it still a tossup?

I would use DA khanda and STR shamshir until you get Almace imo. Isador isn't doing much for spell dmg which would most likely be your biggest dmg source before CDC. While DA khanda isn't either, it is more beneficial than Isador for sword dmg/vorpal. Once you do get Almace, it's been said a lot in this thread but I think the DA khanda is ahead of STR shamshir only by a little and that isn't taking into account the 9 str affecting spell dmg as well.

DA Khanda's marginally ahead (~1%) before spell damage if you're relying on DW I or II instead of /NIN DW III. If cRatio capped then obviously it'll win there too.

Does it matter in the end? If people were looking for raw damage, they'd bring another job. I think Magian wise, you wanna focus on other swords before a DA Khanda, or an OAT Khanda.

You're right, how foolish of me to care about my damage output in times where I don't necessarily need to focus on a different stat in my offhand. I have seen the light!

I'm glad I helped you see the light. If you don't need to focus on a different stat in your offhand, you should probably be on a different job. Or you can spend time on a DA Khanda for those times when you should be on a different job, but are on BLU instead. Probably a lot easier and faster to switch jobs at a moogle.

If you're just arguing about how to increase BLU sword DoT that's fine. BLU sword DoT is pretty irrelevant overall though, low damage, feeds TP, poor WS. Why not focus on what BLU does best instead?

I didn't say that either. For group play, keeping DEF Down on mobs, Enervation/Sound Blast, Auroral Drape, Reaving Wind on mobs is more useful than most of what we can do, Head Butt spam (When not trying to proc/mob isn't immune), Delta Thrust for plague, etc.

Situations where being in range doesn't matter/TP feed doesn't matter/most jobs can solo/duo, by all means go nuts with swords and spells.
