Blue Mage: Best thread ever

I thought that too at first...but there is no record of it happening in the log. And that is after multiple times. Sometimes it fires off and sometimes it doesnt : | I have even tried with and without blinkmenot...same thing happens.

As a note, if you blink an SC then you may or may not get a message in the log depending on when you blink. I've had that happen before.

Now why it's doing it with blinkmenot up? I'm not sure. Are you blinking at all? I know that blinkmenot's default settings are different now so you may need to configure it to make sure you don't blink.

Best test you can do is find a mob you know the hp value for and do a few self scs on it. If afterward the mob is at a lower% than expected for the damage your ws and spell did then you know it worked even if you can't see the damage.

The only other thing I can think of is that you're just timing it wrong or have exceptional lag.

In regards to calculating D of physical Blue Magic Skills, how much Blue Magic Skill can you add before it caps?

I've read that the cap is 14-15 levels above the level you learn the spell.

That's about how it is for lower level spells, but I recall testing indicating that spells 60+ did not cap when we leveled up to 80. I wouldn't be surprised if they still haven't at 90.

I am attributing it to mad lag....cause the main factor is that the macro either does or doesnt fire off the spell and then i have to manually do it. I know that sometimes I get interrupted (which is about 20% of the time) which is a given because of the macro but 80% of the time spell just doesnt fire off and the mob didnt even swing once or twice. Either way my workaround now is to check for the message "unable to use spell" and spam the macro for blu spell to complete SC correctly.

I forget though. What mob uses Crystaline Cocoon? And what is teh effect? Wait, is that the name of that Giant moogles attack in that mini expansion? lol

Crystalline Cocoon is used by Aern, and it gives them Protect and Shell. So hopefully the effect transfers over to BLU.

Trying to perfect my cleaving sets, can anyway share their Thermal Pulse/Whirl of Rage or do people generally not gear for those two sets specifically?

Hmmm regarding the original BLU's XML, I see

Can I simply remove the type="BlueMagic" and Element="Unknown" from the first if? Will it remove the small lag?
How about ValidTarget="Enemy" ? What does it do? Is it also safe to remove it?

That portion basically asks

Is the spell Blue Magic?
Is the Element unknown (Physical spells and some magic spells like Cocoon; yes, I know it's earth when you look at it, but the DATs have cocoon as unknown element last I checked along with Diamondhide too I believe)
Is Enemy a valid target (Avoids spells without an element like cocoon)

If you remove Element, then it won't distinguish between Physical and Magical spells (Meaning the <else> rule equipping STR gear will apply to offensive magic spells)
If you remove the ValidTarget=Enemy line, then stuff like Cocoon will be casted in STR gear
If you remove Type=BlueMagic, then it will activate on White/Black magic spells with an unknown element (May or may not be a problem, but that might actually increase lag since it will proc on those spells)

After one look at Yugl's BLU .XML, I assumed that he didn't do anything that wasn't necessary. I recall him being very vocal about badly written/redundant .XMLs, and he hasn't shown himself to be a hypocrite.
