Thanks for the info guys, was nice of them to put double attack and store tp on spells we may actually want to equip.
How severe is the accuracy penalty on Heavy Strike? Bad enough to not even use? For the time being is Quad. Continuum still the best dmg spell on BLU?
Wait does "Auto-crit" mean Heavy Strike is a 100% crit hit?
I was farming Sharabha for DRK hands last night and even when I wasn't blinded I definitely wasn't capping hitrate in a full STR set. Capped + merited sword skill and acc bonus trait set.
It's very efficient when it does land and obviously Abyssea blows its utility out of proportion, but yeah for more current content (or anything EM+ tbh) I'm hesistant to use it over our old spells.
On IT++ mobs, the damage even with CA and Efflux drops off considerably down to maybe 1000-1100 and on HNMs it just sucks. I was doing much bigger numbers on the Hydra in Grauberg using CA + Efflux with Vanity Dive than with Heavy Strike (VD was 1500-1800 and HS was 800-900 with CA and Eff, and without was like 800 and 500 respectively).
Basically, it's just another spell to toss into the mix on HNMs for low TP feed because it is cheap and relatively high attack so it hits harder on high Def mobs, but it only seems to produce impressive numbers against mobs no one cares about (Too Weaks to straight IT normal mobs).
Add in the Acc problem, and it's almost a non-spell that you set for traits and stats and never use.
The acc penalty is like -40 or -50 easy.
It's very likely more than that.
Did you guys check to see whether the penalty is after all calculations or prior? The former meaning you'll always cap at X% hit rate and the latter meaning you'll just have a static ACC-X to overcome.
I think Prothescar did some formal testing that indicated a straight -acc penalty. Less formal, but I have no issues whatsoever landing it in Limbus.
It appears to be an acc penalty similar to slug shot/sidewinder. it also seems to be worse than either.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.htm...02435280804372 limited data and poor control, but it's -50 or greater with a 95% CI. could be much higher than that, given acc floor, but I doubt it.
If any of the new spells added in this update combine to create any of those traits, it might be worth testing to see if they upgrade it a tier. The only one I read that's been confirmed is that Mortal Ray does not give Dual Wield III.Originally Posted by Camate, Official Forums
I know I read White Wind can be used for Auto Regen. It'd be pretty easy to test if setting White Wind+Healing Breeze+Sheep Song gives Auto Regen II (which I'm sure would be totally worth the set point cost), but I'm not on FFXI right now.![]()
Well we're on 5 spells for DW trait; A 6th spell is required (supposedly, if they keep their promise) in order to obtain DWIII trait.
Finally got enough time to cap my blu skill and it's sitting at 447 in my level 90 sets. If I did the math correctly I've just broken a tier at 446? I just want to confirm so I can figure out what would be best to cast in.
What kind of sets are you guys using for 95 on your major physical damage spells?
