Yes
I've post mine on 476. I ended up taking out sound blast and cocoon to make space for sudden lunge (+1 from head butt) and 6 more points for Triple attack trait. What kind of sets are you guys using for 95 on your major physical damage spells?
I'm wielding Almace, so that's probably not the same for everyone.
I've got Almace but is Triple attack worth all those points?
Anyhow, my spell sets vary greatly based on what I'm doing but I'm mostly looking for equipment sets for the new spells as well as modifications to the old ones given the new tiers and available gear. I have issues calculating this stuff out so I'm not sure what will be best anymore and I often overlook new options.
What is the formula again for working out blu magic physical damage? I know it was posted some time ago but I keep on forgetting it.

There you go.....Code:Physical damage calculation is the same with PC WS damage calculation: Final D value =floor(D+fSTR+WSC) * Multiplier D is calculated as floor(Blue Magic Skill*0.11)*2 + 3. There's upper cap for each spell During Efflux, D is calculated as floor(Blue Magic Skill*0.11)*3 + 3. WSC Related to Stats. Similar to WSC, there is level correction factor α fSTR Modified by Your STR - Opponent VIT. If dSTR = your STR - Opponent VIT is 28, fSTR is 8. For the rest of the value, whenever dSTR+4 → fSTR+1. Example: if dSTR=84 → fSTR is 22. All melee spells, except for Smite of Rage, has upper cap of 22. For Multi Hit Blue magic spells, it's not yet been confirmed that second and consecutive hit will have multiplier 1.00 (Most likely, it is 1.00) During Azure Lore, a certain multiplier is in effect. TP:Damage Correction only? During Chain Affinity, Secondary Attributed Modifier value(WSC) are doubled. i.e. The formula become Final D value =floor(D+fSTR+WSC*2) * Multiplier The multiplier can be enhanced/reduced depending on the opponent's monster family
After trying it out for quite a bit... nope, I probably gonna set back to double attack (cheaper now... acrid stream and heavy strike cost 1 less point than the old acrid stream + empty thrash combo).
Taking back Vanity Dive(+2), Cocoon(+1), and Sound blast(+1) in.
Also adding Fantod(+1) for Store TP trait with sudden lunge
58/60 set points with 20/20 slot filled (We need more slot!)
Speaking of which... what is the damage type of heavy strike? Blunt?
Oh, and duo'd Metal Chip Temenos with myself on BLU/RDM and other guy BLU/NIN, CA+Efflux quad takes about 50% off an aern. Both used marinara pizza cause of what had been said about mobs' defense. Practically never missed with Heavy Strike, Delta Thrust damage was great, and we were doing fine on time till some very bad timing...group of 5, 3rd mob we fought turned out to be mnk and popped 2hr right when a BRD woke and horde lullabied ... mapping out what jobs are where we'd be a lot more prepared and I'd say duo shouldn't be too bad at all. Astral flow hit for very low damage as well. Would call MNK the only problem really. Easily take out any single mob in 5-10 seconds and only the BLU/NIN had MP issues. And hadn't even thought to bring Korin Obi.
Probably going to go with 3 people next time to get an idea of the whole run, all BLU/RDM or 2 /RDM + BLU/NIN...even might do well BLU/SCH since there's enough to aspir there and spell damage was very good.
Edit: Also noteworthy Sudden Lunge was golden there.
Edit: and not makin a 3rd post but completely separate question, wondering, not that I have it but curious, Toci's Harness vs Magus Jubbah +1 for spellcasting? 13 STR 13 DEX 10 acc sounds like it might give 15 skill a good run for its money.
Been wondering about Toci's myself, not for spellcasting though, more for CDC. Would it outdo Loki's on its own? With the +1 headpiece?
Yeah, Toci's is good for STR/DEX physical spellcasting. Though Benthic Typhoon inside Abyssea will still find Magus Jubbah +1 better (by not much), but then again, there's 14 acc higher than Magus Jubbah +1, so I think it's a good all-round piece.
Even without CA, 8 STR is giving you 5 (unlikely 6) base damage on Heavy Strike, vs the 2-4 of 15 skill. If Efflux is up, Jubbah gives 3-6, and so might be better, but other than that, I'd use Toci's. (I'd use Toci's all the time really, the acc is more important for Heavy Strike.)
http://www.ffxiah.com/item-sets/231866 Seems like a good set up for heavy strike. It's got about 80 more Acc than my usual blue magic sets so should make up for the Acc penalty on it.
11 attack from Jubbah is a ~2.1% increase in damage (increasing with level correction but then acc becomes an issue, back to Toci's), best case for Toci's (6 base D from STR, 2 from skill) comes in just under 2% as you should be a bit over 200 base damage in a non-acc set. Obviously I support Toci's for acc builds.
Heavy Strike is an automatic crit, making attack less valuable. Assuming it takes you from 2.00 to 2.02 cRatio you're only gaining 1% damage off blue magic attack, not 2%.
You'd need to be at 1 cRatio to gain 2% (meaning 0 before the crit), and if level correction is pushing you there, the 2% extra attack might still leave you at the cRatio floor.
Ah, that's true. Now I just have to get a harness![]()
It's a VW drop I'm sure so someone's WHM mule will get it before anyone else in their group.
Wouldn't be surprised if it comes from Qilin or Aello to coincide with Ace's Mail from Uptala.
Edit: wait, nevermind, it's one of those set pieces. Probably Jeuno branch then.
Edit2: In fact yes, it's from Pil. Son of a bitch this has probably already been known for like 2 weeks D:<
Edit3: things that you might not know, at least some of our multihit spells have fTP added to all of the hits. Asuran Claws as an example, 0.625 fTP per hit, 3.75 in total, giving the entire spell a total of 3.75 after all 6 hits. This is different in that additional hits usually supply a static 1 fTP. It explains why Asuran Claws sucks so bad and why QC gets so powerful at higher TP values.
Goblin Rush does this (1.25)x3 and also has an attack bonus, roughly 40%Edit3: things that you might not know, at least some of our multihit spells have fTP added to all of the hits.
