Quadrastrike will outdo Continuum in abyssea with crit atmas and 1 JA, either CA, Efflux, or 2hr.

Maybe crit atmas plural as you said. I only use razed as far as crit atmas go and haven not found this to be the case.

Anything with a high enough defense will find Quadrastrike being the superior spell.

Antica Ring would get you to 498 but yeah, you can't actually hit 500 skill for a 10th shadow right now.

Alright, so I'm finally getting some play time post-update and it's high time I got my BLU spells. Making sure I've made reasonably good choices for where to hunt:

Quadrastrike - CoP/WotG Kindred are a bust? Would prefer not to give up a Dyna run, but if Xarc is my only practical option (fuck camping Sabnock) then I'll go there.
Absolute Terror - Nauls
Vapor Spray - Sea (duh)
Gates of Hades - Orthrus? I doubt Cerberus will be up.
Thunder Breath - Balaur, or Kindred pets if I go to Dyna-Xarc
Tourbillion - Is it possible to learn this from Khimaira 13? My mule is conveniently a couple of cutscenes away from this fight, so if spamming this BC and having the mule exit until I succeed is an option then I'd imagine it's easily the best one
Amorphic Spikes - Aby-Konschtat or the old BLM camp
Orcish Counterstance - Jugner (S)
Pyric Bulwark - Ningishzida?
Barbed Crescent - Phomiuna/Sacrarium
Bilgestorm - Dvalinn
Bloodrake - Oupire, Bostanieux Oubliette

I can't seem to figure it out from looking at the actual equations.

Are you actually looking? Take a number, plug it in. If you get a whole number increase then congratulations, you broke a tier.

Dyna-Xarc is the easiest place to get Quadrastrike, but I timed out before getting Thunder Breath and ended up soloing Balaur. He's up every 15 mins and he always uses the spell, so I found him to be the easiest and fastest.

Most people are getting Tourbillion from Captain-level Assault, so that's the only one that can't be soloed right now.

Quadrastrike+Thunder Breath: Really nothing wrong with going to Xarc. The Forgotten Hopes are worth quite a bit if you don't want to hold onto them for a body piece, and currency isn't awful, just random pieces.

Gates of Hades - Yes, Orthrus

Tourbillion - Wondering this myself tbh. Would be the bets option if so. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to learn it unless Shantotto breaks the wings like an asshole.

Does this mean Skill level 498 is 167.34 and and Skill 497 is 167.01, meaning you break a tier at Skill 497?

Or do you floor the value inside the parens first before you multiply by three? That would mean the skill tiers were somewhere else.

Just got Tourbillion from the FL assault, I would honestly say that is your best bet if you are FL+. Just turn and spam a few spells on it for hate and then back tank it while the gob spams dice, you don't need to feed either of them TP. Don't use Heavy strike or melee it at all.

Base skill+merits is 440, so 99 D base.

107 with Magus body+Mavi legs+Mavi tathlum.

109 with Magus body+Mavi legs+Mavi tathlum+Mirage head(+2)

You only get one chance to learn it compared to an assault that you can repeat? You also get points for salvage. I was also talking in general, not everyone has a mule on that mission.

Trying too hard. Was in direct response to my post, so you were still responding to the discussion I opened about the possibility of spamming Khimaira 13 given that I do have such a mule. Obviously those without would need to explore other options.

Have done the assault many times and not broken wings with non CA DD spells aside from Heavy strike.

Trying too hard to do what? I was trying to help jesus, lol. If you have a mule then I can see it being the best option. I wouldn't get my mule up from start to the mission just for the spell if I'm FL+ however.
