Blue Mage: Best thread ever

All apollyon zones are easily clearable by blu, and I've seen the blu mat drop from all of them, so on that front I don't think it matters much which zone you pick. For temenos I would stick to west, and only open chests on odd floors, since blu mat only drops from those. I would recommend swapping spells to cleave the vultures on the final floor.

CDC and Amorphic Spikes should easily be outperforming Requiescat and QC, particularly in situations where you'll actually be capable of self-skillchaining to begin with, as Requiescat is a rather weak link. You're simply shifting the balance of suck to the other side of the chain, while Amorphic Spikes isn't quite as bad when compared to QC as Requiescat is to CDC.

Well I'm mainly using req -> QC on old content, where req actually does fine (1.5-2kish in limbus/dyna/etc, and that's with a mediocre set for it), and is pretty comparable to other blus CDC from what i've seen. For VW obviously I'm not SCing at all, and for abyssea I use vorpal -> QS, unless I'm not using crit atmas.

Second floor of Northeast drops BLU mat the most often from what I recall, and wiki concurs. Temenos West is probably your best bet for the other mat as mentioned.

Could go in the RQT too I guess, but I'm just curious, has anyone actually learned Body Slam from Vanguard Dragons? I spent most of three Xarc runs trying to learn it from them with no luck. Finally said screw it, went to Dahaks, and learned it from the first one that used it.

Obviously I could have had very odd/bad luck with it, but the experience just made me wonder.

Should be possible, I learned Thunder Breath and Quadrastrike in Xarc, so the ability to learn spells is there. Probably just bad luck.

Same for me with those two. I'm not so much thinking Xarc, but maybe if there's a subclass of dragon or something.

It is possible that it is like Fire Spit and Warm Up. All Mammol Ja do them, but you can only learn them from the mages and melees respectively. (Or is that an outdated mechanic now?)

Aye, which is what I did. Learned from the first one that did the move.

Just odd that I could see it like 30-40 times in Dynamis-Xarc and not learn it. That's why I was curious if anyone actually had gotten it there, or if it was just added to the wiki/blue mage hunting grounds/etc because they use the move.

Shouldn't really even be considered, wasting time in dynamis is just wasted gil, and as said Dahaks are the easier option. Doubt many people bothered to try learning this in dynamis, seeing as they could have been killing monsters for currency instead.

Probably the 2nd non-T6 VWNM other than Lancing Lamorak I need sushi to get good hit rate.

I can get 2.4k-2.5k even 3k spikes on it but doesn't happen often enough due to crap TP return (hence I think I need sushi)

Shouldn't be hard if you stun -gas and attempt to stun Tyrant Tusk.

Yeah its really easy with a decent evasion set. Just make sure you stun Tyrant Tusk and spells. You could even sub WAR for procs on the NMs. Might not even need the evasion set at this point and how fast you can kill it.

How much evasion do you think I'd need? The set I used for bri and co. is:

EDIT: And whats your guys experience with barbed crescent for that matter? On briareus NMs it seemed like it was generally either wearing fast or not landing at all (not getting wear off message), so I stopped bothering since I was capped on them anyway.

That seems fine, the atma is not necessary though as you should go with DD atma. I would also bring remedies along in-case you get hit with paralyze.

And whats your guys experience with barbed crescent for that matter? On briareus NMs it seemed like it was generally either wearing fast or not landing at all (not getting wear off message), so I stopped bothering since I was capped on them anyway.

I haven't been able to use it recently for solos so I'm not sure of its duration/land rate. For atma, I would probably do RR/GH/Apoc. With temps and battery charge you should be fine on MP.

Is VV really that much better than GH if I'm mostly just meleeing anyway? I've been using RR/GH/apoc for eva solos.
