    Maybe I'm giving them too much credit, but I'd like to believe they've held off on releasing Atamos and Cait Sith because they know that won't fix Smn, that they're waiting for some sort of rebuild of Smn to release them. Whether that's actually the case or not, one can only hope. I think I remember some sort of official response saying that they wanted to push out the new SPs first before bringing out the avatars, however I think that was just bullshit PR, since the SPs are just as much (if not more so) vapor ware than the avatars.

    You may be thinking of the SMN with a scythe. The original promotional video is kind of on its own level though- beyond flying fafnirs and goobbues, much of the game didn't really resemble the final product.

    I'm pretty sure SE said that the new SPs are coming out in the fall update.

    They took them off the test server and they didnt add GEO/RUN yet to the test server so I bet they will be pushed back.

    Not to mention the last I saw they were still horribly horribly unbalanced from each other. Some resembling the best most OP ability ever while others being weaker than lvl 15 job abilities we already have <.<

    You mean how a DRK or two with a KC can render a mob unable to us TP moves at all for like 30-60 seconds under their new SP2? Or how SAM becomes immune to all TP move effects/damage and with each TP move they evade, their own WS damage increases like 25%? Or how RDM's SP2 just allows their next enfeeble to be 100% accurate and then the SP wears off?

    Yes something like that... except they said rdms wasn't even 100%. They actually made it sound like it was weaker than elemental seal... like not be 100% but just alot more accurate and not even lower chance of partial resist iirc. As bad as the first idea for rdm was this was actually even worse. But yeah or like how smn could chain bps but mnk gets double hp lol. I think the shit storm over those kinda is what pushed them back so much. I mean really draining like 50 tp per hit... you wouldn't even need a kclub

    I think RDM's old SP2 is going to be RUN's. It's a 30 second duration Embolden without the duration penalty. It fits the same model as other jobs getting a powerful SP/SP2 and then having a 5-10min JA that mimics their 2hr for one use.

    BLU- Unbridled Learning/Unbridled Wisdom(SP2)
    SAM- Meikyo/Sekkonoko
    WAR-Warrior's Charge/SP2
    RDM-Spontaneity/Chainspell
    BLM-Manafont/Manawell
    RUN-Embolden/Old RDM SP2 that doubles enhancing magic potency

    Whenever they do finally get around to releasing the new SP's (been like 2 years now?) I'm sure they'll be disappointing. Blu's was okay but really, there's no need for unbridled learning to be a JA as is, none of the spells are so broken that having their own recasts doesn't solve the issue of use.

    Yeah. they should have just had higher set costs and higher recasts if anything. An ability that let you use any spell on your list regardless of being set would have been more appropriate.

    Well the thing about BLU SP2 is it had potential to grow with new UL spells they add in the future. Right now it's very lackluster but new spells could change that.

    imho most used UL spell is harden shell (especially with diffusion), shit is retarded after the attack/defense update.

    Pretty much that and absolute terror are the only ones I bother casting 99% of the time. I'll occasionally throw out a thunderbolt since it's an accurate long duration aoe stun.

    Bilgestorm's effect is okish though I think that is one of the ones that doesn't work? Tourbillion would be awesome if it ya know they finally fix it after 3 or so years. Also can't find the amount but wasn't the -int on GoH pretty nice?

    Bilgestorm debuffs have always worked afaik, the duration just sucks. Idk about the int down on the burn, but I've always liked GoH for some quick burst AoE/magic dmg, when you might not have whisker/whatever set.

    Really most of the UL spells are good, just not 5 minute shared cooldown good. I've always liked the idea of just shortening the cooldown on UL and making it have charges like stratagems.

    Yeah I always wondered about their reasoning on the shared 5 min timer... I mean I thought the idea was to limit the usage of them in order to be able make them more powerful but in the end don't really fit that. Sure they are good but outside of terror I wouldn't rate any of them at a set 5 min non shared timer lol. At their current power lvl it makes the sp2 seem like something that should be their anyways... and weren't we supposed to get the fay wind series of moves for UL?

    I was always under the impression it was so you had access to a variety of decently powerful spells regardless of how you had your spells setup. Assuming everything worked well, its a mix of powerful nukes, debuffs, +def, drain, stun, etc. Not to say that they're worth the 5 minute timer, but having access to any of them regardless of your spell layout always seemed like a nice touch. Gotta echo the above regarding a JA that allows a cast of ANY spell though, that'd be really nice.

    The weirdest thing to me is, that, despite having a 5 min cool down timer, each spell has it's own recast time built in.
